YSRC, JSP diligent to bag votes in Kapu bastion

VIJAYAWADA : Part of the Diviseema region, a small deltaic island in Krishna district, Avanigadda is one of the seven Assembly constituencies under Machilipatnam parliament segment. The segment is well known as a bastion of Kapu leaders, where the electorate belonging to the community make up the largest proportion of more than 35 per cent, followed by fishermen at 13 per cent, Mala at 11 per cent, Madiga at 10 per cent, Shettibalija at 10 per cent, Kamma at 7 per cent, Yadava at 5 per cent, Vaishya at 3 per cent, Devangs at 2 per cent, and Muslims at 2 per cent. Considering these caste equations, the YSRC and JSP have fielded candidates hailing from Kapu community to contest the seat. While the YSRC has nominated sitting MLA Simhadri Ramesh Babu, Jana Sena has fielded Mandali Buddha Prasad, expecting to garner a significant share of Kapu votes. Nevertheless, the competition is poised to intensify, especially considering the substantial support among the lower and middle-class populace who have benefited from YSRCs welfare schemes, across other social groups. Enduring frequent cyclones, the constituency has been plagued with several problems for decades. Filled with potholes, the condition of the roads, especially on the Koduru-Avanigadda main road, in the Assembly segment is deplorable forcing the commuters to take lengthy detours spanning 13km. Though repairs have commenced, the overall road infrastructure remains a pressing concern for the constituency. In addition to this, most of the farmers are facing numerous challenges due to the lack of irrigation water. Although this issue affects all areas within the constituency, it is particularly acute in Nagayalanka and Koduru mandals. Moreover, the people are also facing problems due to a lack of drinking water in coastal villages such as Edurumondi, Kammalamula, Nali, Hamsala Deevi, Palakayathippa, Machavaram, and others. However, residents believe that despite the governments provision of water through tanks, it is insufficient to meet their needs. Parankusam Ravi, a resident of Avanigadda, expressed his concern over the authorities delay in desilting the main drains and agriculture drains, leading to the sinking of crop fields even with small rains. He mentioned that the outfall sluice, constructed during the British era, has been neglected over time. Even during the modernisation of the delta, necessary repairs were not carried out, resulting in the inundation of fields. Highlighting the delay in construction of Edurumondi-Etimoga bridge across Krishna river, which connects the main land with villages including Edurumondi, Etimoga, Elichetla Dibba, Nachu Gunta, and Gollamandala, D Govardhan, a resident of Yedurlanka village, said that with no other option, the residents are still risking their lives and relying on country boats to cross the river. Govardhan emphasised that this issue has persisted for a significant period, with both governments responsible for its resolution. He lamented the lack of effort to address it. Additionally, Govardhan mentioned the pressing need for the Yedurlanka Bridge, a problem raised during the YSRC tenure and not yet addressed. Avanigadda MLA and YSRC candidate Simhadri Ramesh expressed that it is encouraging to see the overwhelming support from underprivileged and middle-class people for CM Jagan Mohan Reddy and his schemes. Ramesh highlighted his efforts, including his opposition to GO 22A, which troubled farmers owning 17,840 acres of agricultural land in the constituency during Chandrababus tenure. He also mentioned his contribution for the establishment of a dialysis centre at Avanigadda Government Hospital. Regarding the construction of the Edurumondi Bridge, he acknowledged delays due to the Covid-19 pandemic and alleged interference from Machilipatnam parliament member Balashowry Vallabbhaneni, resulting in a standstill despite the allocation of Rs 110 crore.

Naidu and alliance leaders responsible for hardships of welfare pensioners, says YSRC

Vijayawada: YSRC general-secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy has said Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has put all the possible promises in the YSRC election manifesto but the Chandrababu alliance put all the impossible promises in its joint manifesto. Ramakrishna Reddy held Naidu and alliance leaders responsible for the present problems of elders in receiving social security pensions. Addressing the media on Thursday, he said that the people knew the manifesto announced by Chandrababu was a hoax and that the YSRC is acting as a responsible party in fashioning its manifesto. Ramakrishna Reddy asked why there were no photos of the BJP in the alliance joint manifesto and why did the BJP AP unit incharge refused to hold the manifesto at its release event. He recalled that the photos of PM Modi and BJP leaders were printed on the alliance manifesto in Sikkim and Arunachal Pradesh states. The BJP has understood that Chandrababu's manifesto promises cannot be implemented and hence it did not want to take any responsibility thereof. Ramakrishna Reddy said Chandrababu was spreading lies on the Land Titling Act which should be implemented by the BJP government at the Centre, and if there are any doubts about that Act, then Naidu should ask his alliance partner about the Act instead of accusing the YSRC and CM Jagan. He said Naidu did not understand what is happening and who formulated the Act and spread falsehood. Chandrababu alleged that through the Land Titling Act, all the land will be taken away by the government. If so, PM Modi should grab all the land and sell those after the Act is in force, according to the statement of Chandrababu. The YSRC leader asked the BJP state and national leaders to give clarity on Land Titling Act. On Nov 25, 2019, NITI Aayog has constituted a committee to draft the Model Act and the rules on Conclusive Land Tilting that includes six senior officers from across the country. He said the YSRC understood the financial situation of the state and announced only what can be implemented. He recalled that in 1999, the TD promised to provide one crore jobs to the unemployed youth in the undivided Andhra Pradesh but it deceived them. During Chandrababu's rule, two months before the elections, the pension was enhanced to `1000 but he failed to deliver it properly. Ramakrishna Reddy stated that the opposition alliance moved the court, complained to EC and stopped the volunteers from keeping the pensioners to various difficulties. Naidu and the alliance are responsible for the hardships being faced by the senior citizens and the disabled, he stressed. He said, The volunteer system will be totally removed and the TDs Janmabhoomi Committees will be back to show hell to the poor and marginalised if TD returns to power. Chandrababu is angry that people defeated TD in the 2019 elections and is ready to mess with the lives of the poor.

Rahul Will Arrive in AP for Election Campaign Soon

Vijayawada: AICC in-charge for the Congress in AP, Manickam Tagore, has noted that the Telugu Desam has forgotten the Special Category Status demand, and avoided its inclusion in its election manifesto following its electoral tie-up with the BJP. The joint manifesto of the alliance is a mixture of the manifestos of the TD and Jana Sena, he said. Tagore said the Congress party if elected, will grant SCS to Andhra Pradesh for ten years. Can Chandrababu Naidu make this promise, he asked. He said Rahul Gandhi would be arriving in AP soon for the election campaign and the dates would be announced in a day or two. Manickam Tagore asked Naidu whether he would dare announce Muslim reservations in the presence of Prime Minister Narendra Modi at any public meeting. The Congress party would form the government at the Centre by repeating the 2004 results and Rahul Gandhi would be the next PM, he said. So far, two phases of the seven-phase general election have been completed. The Congress party-led INDIA bloc would have an edge over the BJP and win 60 per cent of the Lok Sabha seats. The Congress party is contesting 158 assembly seats while the CPI, CPM, and CPI (ML) have some more seats. Tagore alleged that the YSRC and Telugu Desam are making money through corporate politics in the state. Corporate giants Adani and Ambani are supporting the TD-JSP-BJP alliance and YSRC respectively. The YSRC has allotted a Rajya Sabha seat to the Ambani family, he pointed out. He said the Congress party has promised to provide 4 per cent reservations for Muslim minorities. Chandrababu Naidu is the trusted son of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while Jagan Mohan Reddy is his adopted son. The TD politics is backed by Adani and the YSRC politics by Ambani. However, there is no difference between the YSRC and TD, he said and urged the people to vote for the Congress-led INDIA bloc.

Such talk stems from desperation and helplessness. I will not be cowed down by such lame threats as I have the blessings of the people in abundance. They stand as a shield to me, he averred. Vibrant James Street of Secunderabad

HYDERABAD : A photograph taken by Lala Deen Dayal between December 1887 and February 1888 captures a picturesque wide street bustling with people and carts. In the centre of this image stands a structure topped with a colonial-style clock tower. The street, originally named James Street in honour of James Achilles Kirkpatrick, the third British Resident in Hyderabad, is now known as Mahatma Gandhi Road. It remains a vibrant thoroughfare in Secunderabad, adorned with prominent landmarks like the Gandhi Statue, Chermas, Asrani Hotel, Paradise, and the Parsi Fire Temple. The bustling General Bazaar and residences flank its sides. The clock tower and the building that once served as a police station were generously donated by the munificent benefactor of Secunderabad Dewan Bahadur Seth Ramgopal Malani, after whom the area on the west of the road was named Ramgopalpet. (Described as such in City of Secunderabad, published by Secunderabad Municipal Corporation, 1955) His old house still stands a few metres away from the police station building, all newly painted red and green like a bride. Additionally, James Street is home to a railway station bearing the same name. Established in 1874 by the sixth Nizam of Hyderabad, Mahboob Ali Khan, this station was part of the railway project that connected Secunderabad to Wadi Junction. It was the second station constructed along this important route after Secunderabad. The Nizam agreed to finance the initial construction costs, and the capital for the line was raised through the issuance of redeemable mortgage debentures. Construction commenced in 1870, and in 1874 the Secunderabad-Wadi Line was completed. Subsequently, between 1874 and 1889, this line was extended first to Kazipet and then to Vijayawada. Initially being carried out by the Indian Peninsular Railways under the British, the project was later taken over by the Nizam with the formation of a management company and with a guarantee by the Nizam to pay 5% of the companys revenue to the British. In 1899, the broad gauge connection between Bezwada (Vijayawada) and Madras (Chennai Central) was established, facilitating rail travel between Hyderabad and Chennai. Subsequently, in 1916, the Kachiguda Railway Station was built as the railways headquarters. The area is also known for some of the oldest bazaars that came up in a sprawling British cantonment in the 20th century. General Bazaar was known for its gold and silver jewellery and Regimental Bazaar extended to Alexandra Road, (now Sarojini Devi Road), which intersected with Oxford Street, now Sardar Patel Road. The area now known as Ranigunj was named after Queen Victoria.

The financial condition of the State is so pathetic that the State is bearing a burden of Rs 13 lakh crore debt and even the salaries of the government employees are not being paid on time, he regretted and said that revenue can be generated only by creating assets and Jagan Mohan Reddy is raising loans by mortgaging the assets created during the TDP regime. Andhra Pradesh: YSRC trying to create mistrust on manifesto, alleges TDP leaders

VIJAYAWADA: Even as the YSRC claims that the joint manifesto released by the TDP and JSP does not have the acceptance of the BJP, leaders of the TDP in their internal talks felt it was only meant to create a rift among the NDA partners. If the YSRC leaders feel that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had no confidence in the TDP implementing the manifesto going by the experience in 2014 elections, it will only remain a futile attempt to sow seeds of mistrust among the NDA constituents. The TDP leaders argued that if it was the case, then it should be the BJP that has to be blamed as it did not deliver on its promise of granting SCS, which is the major demand, and which forced the TDP to exit the from then NDA. In fact, the YSRC leaders appear to be targeting the BJP and Modi by shooting with the gun from our shoulders, a TDP leader observed. As of now, we dont want to prolong the issue as we are an ally of the BJP, he added. When asked whether the decision of the BJP not to associate with the TDP-JSP joint manifesto, damaged the election prospects of the tripartite alliance, one TDP leader told TNIE that the BJP leaders are announcing that they are endorsing the joint manifesto but in practice, they are not. We have explained to the Telugu Desam cadre the line taken by the saffron party that it will confine to the manifesto at the national level and support manifestos by its allies in the States, another TDP leader said.

When the petition came up for hearing on Wednesday, JSPs counsel YV Raviprasad expressed satisfaction over the ECI orders, following which the HC disposed of the petition. Meanwhile, the TDP filed a petition in the court on Wednesday, seeking directions to the ECI not to allot the Glass Tumbler symbol to any independent of RUPP candidates in any of the Assembly or parliamentary constituencies in the State. It maintained that the TDP, BJP and JSP are contesting as an alliance, and the allotment of the Glass Tumbler symbol to independents would affect their prospects. The petition will come up for hearing on Thursday.

Naidu vows to abolish Land Titling Act

Vijayawada : Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu on Wednesday vowed to append his second signature on the file to abolish the AP Land Titling Act once the three-party alliance gets the peoples nod to form the next government. Addressing a large gathering as part of Prajagalam at Chirala in Bapatla district, he alleged that the act would result in illegal grabbing of lands of the people and demanded an apology from Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for framing the law. Naidu had already announced to sign the first file for issue of a notification for conduct of DSC to recruit teachers in government schools. The TD chief called upon the people to read the manifestos of both the NDA and the YSRC to find out difference. He listed out a series of welfare schemes mentioned in the manifesto including the 10 per cent reservation for EBCs in education and employment, sanction of `10 lakh loan to Dwcra women to set up units for their financial self-sustenance, a health insurance coverage for `25 lakh per family, setting up generic drug stones and supply of free medicines to patients suffering from high blood pressure and blood sugar, a BC Declaration and financial aid to the weavers. Naidu targeted the CM by saying that Jagan Mohan Reddy allowed upward revision of power tariff nine times in the last five years, resulting in the tariff going up from `200 per month to `1,000 and causing hardships to the commoners. He also listed out how prices of fuels, essential commodities including rice, dals, sugar and others had gone up. He asked the people whether the cost of cheap liquor a quarter from `60 rose to `200 and alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy was supplying his own brands. Naidu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy sucked the blood of the poor by supplying substandard liquor and causing situations of several women becoming widows. He also asked whether sand was available at present and alleged that a tractor load of sand, which used to cost just `1,000, is now priced at `5,000 under the YSRC rule. Naidu castigated Jagan Mohan Reddy for beginning his governance soon after getting elected to power in 2019 by destroying the Praja Vedika and alleged that he was associated with the sand, liquor, mining mafia. Claiming that he has the knowledge on how to generate wealth, Naidu alleged that Jagan Mohan Reddy did not know it, and hence he raised loans worth `13 lakh crore for AP. He said that there was no money with the state government even to pay wages to its employees and even to clear the bills for the Aarogyasri scheme. He promised to develop Chirala by developing a tourism centre, an IT tower and set up a textile park and several amenities if elected to power. In another public meeting held in Guntur, Naidu announced several sops to the Muslims. They are: pension at 50 years of age, land to be allotted for construction of Idgahs and Khabarastans, financial aid of Rs 1 lakh to take up Haj Yatra, corpus fund for Rs 100 crore per annum, interest free loan up to Rs 5 lakh, Imams and Mousis to be given honorarium of Rs 10,000 and Rs 5,000 respectively per month, Rs 5,000 for maintenance of masjids, efforts to protect proposed four per cent reservation to Muslims as it is pending in the Supreme Court, allotment of house sites and construction of houses, sanction of Tidco houses and others. He said Chief Minister Jagan Mohan Reddy was trying to take away capital city from Amavarati when a large number of Muslims stay in parts of Guntur and Vijayawada.

Weathermen said Tirupati, Jangamaheswarapuram, Kavali, Tuni, Nandyal and Argoyavaram experienced heatwave conditions on Wednesday while the remaining parts of the state experienced hot and humid weather conditions. Severe heatwaves will sweep across Rayalaseema till May 5 while the remaining parts of the state will experience heatwave conditions till May 5. Referring to the current extreme heatwave conditions in the state, IMD Amaravati scientist Karuna Sagar attributed the extreme heat to a combination of weather patterns that included a lack of low pressure in April and an anticyclonic flow. The absence of sea breeze entering eastern and peninsular India due to anticyclonic flow is the major reason for the heatwave conditions, he added. Tuni town in Kakinada district recorded the highest temperature of 46.4C on June 17, 2023 and Vijayawada recorded the highest temperature of 46C on May 22, 2020 as per the IMD data between 2018 and 2024 (April).

According to the submission made by ECI to the single judge bench headed by B. Krishnan Mohan, returning officers of constituencies in the state have been ere instructed not to allot Glass Tumbler symbol to independents or others in the assembly and Lok Sabha constituencies, where Jana Sena has fielded its candidates. In a related development, Telugu Desam has moved the High Court with a plea to issue an interim order to reserve the Glass Tumbler symbol for Jana Sena in all Assembly and Lok Sabha segments in the state. The petitioner said as TD-JS-BJP are contesting as an alliance, the JS symbol should be reserved only for Jana Sena. ECI orders freezing of allotment of Glass Tumbler symbol to others

Vijayawada: The Election Commission has ordered freeze of the Jana Sena party symbol Glass Tumbler to Independents and to contestants from the registered unrecognised political parties in certain Lok Sabha and Assembly constituencies. It directed returning officers to revise the allotment of symbols to the contestants accordingly. The EC stated that in the Lok Sabha constituencies where the Jana Sena is contesting, there will be no allotment of Glass Tumbler symbol to the candidates in the Assembly constituencies falling under such jurisdiction. Similarly, in Assembly constituencies where the Jana Sena is contesting, there will be no allotment of Glass Tumbler symbol to other candidates in the fray in Lok Sabha constituencies linked to such Assembly constituencies. This is to avoid public confusion over the JS symbol. The order came in the backdrop of Jana Sena representations to EC to reserve the Glass Tumbler symbol and remove it from the list of free symbols so that the same symbol would not be allotted to any other candidate. The party even moved the High Court citing difficulties and hardships due to the confusion being created due to the common symbol Glass Tumbler being allotted to other unrecognised political parties and independent candidates in the constituencies where the party did not field its candidates. Jana Sena is an unrecognised political party and when it got registered with the ECI, it was allotted the common symbol of Glass Tumbler for the AP polls. As Jana Sena, in alliance with Telugu Desam and BJP, is contesting the polls, the three parties shared the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats among themselves for the contests. Accordingly, the JS share is 21 Assembly and two Lok Sabha constituencies. They are: Anakapalli, Pendurthi and Elamanchali that fall under Anakapalli Lok Sabha segment; Palakonda that falls under Araku LS; Nellimarla that falls under Vizianagaram LS; Visakhapatnam South that falls under Visakhapatnam LS; Razole and P Gannavaram that fall under Amalapuram LS: Polavaram and Ungutur that fall under Eluru LS; Pitapuram from where the JS chief Pawan Kalyan is contesting and Kakinada Rural that fall under Kakinada LS; Narasapuram, Bhimavaram and Tadepalligudem that fall under Narasapuram LS; Rajanagaram and Nidadavole that fall under Rajahmundry LS; Avanigadda that falls under Vijayawada LS; Tenali that falls under Guntur LS; Tirupati that falls under Tirupati LS and Kodur that falls under Rajampet LS. The two Lok Sabha segments are Kakinada and Machilipatnam. Each LS constituency comprises seven Assembly segments. As per norm, the Glass Tumbler will not be allotted to others in 13 Lok Sabha segments. Kakinada LS has seven Assembly segments including Kakinada City, Pitapuram, Jaggampeta, Peddapuram, Kakinada Rural, Prathipadu and Tuni. Machilipatnam LS also has seven segments-Gudivada, Penamaluru, Machilipatnam, Avanigadda, Pedana, Gannavaram and Pamarru. As per norm, there will be no allotment of Glass Tumbler in 14 Assembly segments where JS is contesting - two Lok Sabha segments - to others. Following this order, the returning officers concerned started calling the independents and others from registered unrecognised political parties who got allotment of Glass Tumbler as a common symbol, to ignore the assignment and now wait for allotment of another symbol. The RO from Visakhapatnam LS called contestant G. Rajesh from Navataram party as he got allotment of Glass Tumbler symbol earlier and said this would be changed to Mike. The Rajahmundry Lok Sabha seat contestant Meda Srinivas from Rashtriya Praja Congress who got his Glass Tumbler symbol will have this changed to gas cylinder. Similar is the situation happening all over the state where several independent contestants or others who got allotment of Glass Tumbler symbol are getting their symbol withdrawn and new symbol is being allotted to them as per norms of ECI.

VIJAYAWADA: In yet another major development and advanced infrastructural upgrade, Vijayawada Division, South Central Railway has commissioned an advanced Automatic Block Signalling (ABS) System for a stretch of 14.82 km between Nidadavolu and Kovvur stations. This aims to enhance safety along the divisional railway network. A total of Rs 21.83 crore will be invested within nine months to execute and materialise this ambitious project in the most congested section of the Nidadavolu-Kovvur section. The project was executed by Gati Shakti Unit of Vijayawada Division. The ABS system in Indian Railways is a method of railway signalling that divides a railway line into successive track sections or blocks. The system controls the movement of trains between these blocks using automatic signals. ABS operation allows trains to operate automatically, enhancing sectional capacity. It helps to accommodate more trains in a section thus reducing the detention of trains and swift movement of rail traffic than regular Intermediate Block or Absolute Block Signalling System working. The 37.7 km stretch is equipped with an ABS system across the division. Other stretches commissioned in the division are between VijayawadaGannavaram and VijayawadaKrishna Canal Junction.

Doctor kills mom, wife & kids before ending own life in Vijayawada

VIJAYAWADA: A 40-year-old orthopaedic doctor allegedly killed his mother, wife and two children before ending his life at his residence in Gurunanak Colony under Patamata police station limits on Tuesday morning. Police suspect financial problems might be the reason behind orthopaedic surgeons extreme step. The deceased were identified as Darawath Srinivas (40), his wife Usha Rani (36), two children Sailaja (9), Srihan (6) and his mother Ramanamma (65). Srinivass elder brother Durga Prasad is a judge in Hyderabad while his younger sister resides in Visakhapatnam. His father was a retired DSP. The incident came into light on 9 am when the housemaid arrived at the residence and found Srinivas's body hanging near the corridor. She immediately alerted the neighbours and informed to Patamata police. NTR District Commissioner of Police PHD Ramakrishna, DCP Adhiraj Singh Rana and other officials rushed to the spot and inquired about the incident. The clues team, sniffer dog and fingerprints experts collected evidence from the house. The police found Srinivas body at the entrance of house while remaining family member bodies were found inside the house in a pool of blood. Speaking to mediapersons, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Adhiraj Singh Rana said the head of the family Dr Srinivas, used to work in a private hospital and later started a hospital of his own. He took loans from various banks and private financiers. After the hospital ran into losses and incurred huge debts, depressed Srinivas handed over the hospital to another person to reduce the burden. Unable to bear the financial problems, Srinivas took the extreme step. We suspect that he might have killed all his family members with a knife by slitting their throat and later died by suicide. Before the incident, Srinivas put his car keys in the opposite house post box and a paper where his brothers number was written on it, said the DCP. A case has been registered under suspicious death and police seized a knife as well as suicide note from the spot. Srinivas also recorded a voice note in his phone where he explained the reasons behind killing all the four family members and his suicide, said a senior official on the condition of anonymity. It is also learnt that Srinivas was asked to work in the same hospital which he gave lease to another person. Starting a hospital on his own was his dream and he has put in a lot of blood, sweat, and tears for Srija hospital. Unfortunately, it did not work out as he expected. After handing over the hospital maintenance to another person and was allowed to work in the same hospital, he might have felt insulted and could have resorted to extreme steps over depression, said the police.

BJP doesnt agree with Naidu's promises: Jagan Mohan Reddy

VIJAYAWADA: Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Tuesday said the BJP, the alliance partner of the TDP-JSP, is not a party to the manifesto released by the NDA alliance. In the 2014 manifesto, the photos of TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu, Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Jana Sena Party chief Pawan Kalyan were there. There were the signatures of the three leaders and the signed pamphlet was sent to every household in the State, Jagan said and claimed that before Naidu unveiled the manifesto, the BJP headquarters notified him not to use the Prime Ministers photo. This proves that his promises are unattainable, and the BJP dont agree with it, Jagan said. Lashing out at the Opposition, Jagan said the difficulties in the distribution of pensions were due to the complaint lodged by Naidu with the ECI. Listing out the achievements of his government in the past 58 months, Jagan on Tuesday sought votes on the performance of his governance. The Chief Minister, as part of his campaign for the coming elections, held public meetings at Kondepi, Mydukur and Pileru Assembly segments where he lashed out at the Opposition alliance. Jagan said the Opposition is in frustration, disarray and dismay and lost coherence in speech and attitude. Naidu and his gang are so frustrated that they are hurling abuses at me and even went to the extent of speaking about eliminating me. They are venting out their anger as I had asked them to name their achievements as they have none, he said. Not just the alliance partners but even the Congress has been letting out its frustration in many ways and the elections are not a war between Jagan and Naidu but a battle between pro-people YSRC and feudal forces led by TDP and its allies. People, who can not deliver, get angry when they realize their helplessness and the outbursts of Naidu and his gang stem out of their endless frustration. People should be aware of the deceitful nature of Naidu and his allies who fought the 2014 elections in alliance and took the people for a ride after winning the polls, he said. The CM, in his address, listed out the gains achieved through volunteer system, village and ward secretariats, RBKs and the implementation of slew of welfare schemes like Amma Vodi, Rythu Bharosa, Jagananna Vidya Deevena and the reforms carried out in education and health and medical sectors. He said they gave YSRC a clear edge over the Opposition. He said while only 32,000 government jobs were created during the TDP regime, their number went up to 2.31 lakh during the last 58 months when the YSRCP was in power. The rural economy has picked up with administration being taken to the doorstep of people. We have fulfilled 99.7 percent of election promises. The TDP had back-stabbed and betrayed peoples aspirations by throwing the party manifesto into the dustbin after winning the elections in 2014 with with false promises, he alleged. The elections are not just meant to elect MLAs and MPs but they are crucial in deciding the peoples fate for the next five years, he stated, underscoring the fact that a vote for the YSRCP will result in continuation of all welfare schemes while a vote for TDP will lead Naidu to wind up all of them unceremoniously. The CM said that he is seeking the blessings of the people again based on his performance and progress report of his administration and sought the peoples support to ensure a clean sweep of all 175 assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats.

YSRC Dares Naidu to Say How Much Funds are Needed to Implement TD Manifesto

Former minister and Krishna district YSRC president Perni Venkataramaiah (in picture) came down heavily on Nara Lokesh for comparing the houses given to the poor with bathrooms. Facebook Former minister and Krishna district YSRC president Perni Venkataramaiah (in picture) came down heavily on Nara Lokesh for comparing the houses given to the poor with bathrooms. Facebook Vijayawada: YSRC MLA and former minister Perni Venkataramaiah alias Nani has dared Telugu Desam chief Nara Chandrababu Naidu to state how much money is needed to implement the TD election 2024 manifesto that was released on Tuesday. If Naidu has guts, he must state this, Nani said, and pointed out that the TD-Jana Sena joint manifesto was 90 per cent copy paste from the documents of other political parties. Addressing the media on Tuesday, he asked Naidu, Why did you say you will implement Jagan Mohan Reddy's schemes? Where is the promise of special category status and implementation of bifurcation assurances? There was no mention of these in the manifesto. The former minister dared Naidu to tell how many promises were implemented from your 2014 manifesto. CM Jagan daringly said he implemented 99 per cent promises of the 2019 YSRC manifesto, and is asking votes on the basis of fulfillment of his poll promises. What of you, he asked. Explaining the financial situation of the state, he said that despite all the difficulties, CM Jagan spent `71,000 crore annually for the poor through the welfare schemes. If Chandrababu Naidu is really honest, he should tell us what all of the promises given in the manifesto signed by the three parties in 2014 had been implemented by him. He further asked Naidu, Have you mentioned anything about Kadapa Steel Plant and Visakhapatnam Steel Plant, that you will stop these from being sold? Some 90 per cent of TD's joint manifesto is copied from Jagan's manifesto and the rest 10 per cent copied from the Congress manifesto in Karnataka. This looks funny. Do we need a Chandrababu Naidu to implement Jagan Mohan Reddys schemes, he asked.

Kapus to decide fate of YSRC & JSP in Tadepalligudem segment

RAJAMAHENDRAVARAM: Known for its commercial centres in Coastal Andhra Pradesh, Tadepalligudem Assembly constituency, one of the seven Assembly segments in West Godavari district, has been grappling with significant developmental challenges. While on one side YSRC has fielded Endowment Minister and sitting MLA Kottu Satyanarayana to retain the seat, on the other hand, as part of the tripartite alliance, Jana Sena nominated former Tadepalligudem municipality chairman Bolisetty Srinivas to contest the constituency. With little more than 30 per cent, the Kapu community has been detrimental in dominating the constituency politically, socially and economically. It is interesting to note that the segment has been branded as an endowment ministers constituency, as for the past 40 years, three MLAs who were elected to the Assembly from Tadepalligudem have served as endowment ministers in the State cabinet. With hundreds of rice mills and godowns for fruits, onions and chilli exports located in the town, Tadepalligudem is considered to be one of the most prosperous and wealthy towns in the western delta. There are 2,13,229 voters in the constituency, including 1,04,059 male and 1,09,160 female voters. Tadepalligudem is a bastion of TDP since the inception of the party in 1982. While Telugu Desam won the seat in the 1983, 1985, 1989, 1994 and 1999 elections, Congress emerged victorious in the 1987 by-elections and 2004 general elections, Praja Rajyam in 2009, BJP in 2014, and YSRC in 2019 elections. Though people of the region are venting out their dissent over the incomplete poll promises, the region has not seen any concrete efforts from the governance end. The electorate laments that there is no second summer storage tank in the region to tackle the water shortage. Though every year, the rural areas of Tadepalligudem suffers severely due to the Yerra Kaluva floods, leaders continue to promise to address the issue by constructing retaining walls. However, the promises are only confined to papers, the people rued. In addition to this, with no halt for long distance trains at Tadepalligudem railway station, the commuters are forced to board the train either at Rajamahendravaram or Vijayawada. With all these issues, the political analysts are opining winning the seat is not a cake walk for the candidates.

Andhra Pradesh: Glass tumbler allotted to TDP rebels may split opposition votes

VIJAYAWADA: The allotment of Glass Tumbler (Jana Sena Party symbol) to independents is likely to upset the calculations of some leaders, including TDP State president K Atchannaidu, as it may lead to split in Opposition votes. The symbol was allotted to independents or little-known parties in at least 50 Assembly and Parliament constituencies across the State. For instance, in the Konaseema district, all the seven Assembly segments have a candidate with Glass Tumbler symbol. Tension mounted among the NDA alliance candidates as the election officials allotted the Glass Tumbler symbol. The NDA alliance candidates of Vizianagaram and Shrungavarapukota Assembly segments feared losing votes of JSP sympathisers in the ensuing elections. The Vizianagaram returning officer allotted the Glass Tumbler symbol to Meesala Geetha, who is contesting as an independent candidate after TDPs high command denied the ticket to her. Geetha unsuccessfully contested the 2009 elections from Praja Rajyam Party and won the seat in the 2014 election from TDP in the Vizianagaram Assembly segment. In addition to that, Geethas younger brother Gurana Ayyalu was a Jana Sena leader and is playing a key role in the Vizianagaram Assembly segment. Therefore, Vizianagaram Assembly segment TDP candidate Aditi Vijayalakshmi Gajapathi Raju Pusapati fears losing the votes of Jana Sena sympathisers as they may vote for Glass Tumbler symbol. Similarly, the Shrungavarapukota returning officer allotted the symbol to Lokabhi Ramakoti Kotyada, who filed the nomination as an independent candidate after the JSP denied ticket to him. Shrungavarapukota TDP candidate Kolla Lalitha Kumari is now in a fix as the JSP cadre votes might go to the independent candidate. In the erstwhile East Godavari district, the Glass Tumbler symbol was given to independents and parties like Telugu Janatha Party. In Kakinada City, Munagala Sai Gopi of Telugu Janatha Party was given the symbol and similar is the situation in Jaggampeta, where an independent Patamsetti Suryachandra got the symbol. Two more seats in the East Godavari district, Ramachandrapuram, Amalapuram and Mummdivaram also have candidates with Glass Tumbler as their symbols. Budireddy Srinivas, Jaggampeta JSP mandal secretary said the allotment of Glass Tumbler as the symbol for independents will cost them dearly. Each candidate with Glass Tumbler symbol is likely to get a share of more than 4,000 to 5,000 votes and this would be a loss to the TDP or BJP candidate. These independents, otherwise, would get 1,000 or even lesser votes, he said. In Prakasam district, of the eight Assembly constituencies, Glass Tumbler symbol was allotted to independent candidates in the Giddalur and Markapur segments. Similarly, in Ongole Parliament constituency, the symbol was allotted to an independent. A similar situation prevails in Tekkali where TDP AP chief K Atchannaidu, in Kuppam where TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu is contesting. Same is the situation in Amudalavalasa, Vijayawada Central, Mylavaram, Gannavaram, Tanuku, Mandapet and several other constituencies.

AP polls: Commoners working as star campaigners for YSRC

VIJAYAWADA: Amid the popular trend of enlisting film stars and celebrities as star campaigners for elections, the YSR Congress has adopted a reverse model of introducing commoners as the partys main campaigners. Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, as YSRC chief, has taken this decision, a historic first in the country. The commoners will campaign with top guns of the YSRC, including the CM himself, stalwarts like Botsa Satyanarayana, Dharmana Prasada Rao, Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, Peddireddy Ramachandra Reddy, YV Subba Reddy, V Vijayasai Reddy, Md Abdul Hafeez Khan and others in the present state-wide election campaign. The YSRC has submitted a list of 12 commoners to the Election Commission, designating them as YSRCs official Star Campaigners' for the polls. The party said these 12 will represent each and every one of the approximate 5 crore people of Andhra Pradesh. At a broader level, the YSRC believes that every person in the state is its star campaigner. These individuals, hailing from humble backgrounds, will campaign for the party on the ground and help propagate Jagan Mohan Reddys messages till the last mile. Notably, even before the Siddham campaign, Jagan Reddy had said, My star campaigners are the ordinary people, and I dont want anyone else to campaign for me or the party. He slammed the Opposition for stitching unholy alliances and trying to get as many film stars, influencers etc on board to campaign for them. Throughout his visits to various constituencies as part of the Siddham and Memantha Siddham campaigns, the CM sought blessings from the beneficiaries, whom he called his Star Campaigners, who he expects would go door-to-door in the coming days and help him have a resounding victory. Out of the twelve YSRC star campaigners, four are homemakers, two are farmers, one is an auto driver, one a tailor and four are former government volunteers. Star campaigner Pandalaneni Sivaprasad, Avanigadda constituency, Krishna district, hails from a simple family of farmers; Katari Jagadish, Anakapalli constituency, Anakapalli district, runs a roadside shop sewing seat covers for two-wheelers; Anantha Lakshmi, Rajahmundry city constituency, East Godavari district campaigns in her village. Through Jagananna Chedodu, a neighbour set up a clothing shop that supports her family. Syed Anwar, Nellore Rural, Nellore district, is another of Jagans star campaigners. Challa Eswari, Mylavaram constituency, NTR District, worked as a government volunteer. They are all eager to campaign for the YSRC and CM Jagan. Eswari was all praises for CM Jagans commitment to uplift every poor person in the state and for his focus on women's empowerment. She highlighted the ease of accessing government services, citing the swift issuance of caste certificates under the Jagananna Suraksha programme. Eswari hails CM Jagan's vision for the state. She has seen families in her cluster starting successful businesses with the financial support they received from state government schemes. She believes he runs a people's government where the downtrodden and the underprivileged were prioritized for governmental support and care.

Naidu warns he will handle those who implicated TD cadre in false cases

Vijayawada : Alleging that the Telugu Desam leaders and supporters were implicated in false cases, Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu Naidu has hinted at lifting such cases if the TD-led alliance wins power. I will take to task all those who have booked such cases, he said at a public meeting held as part of Prajagalam at Denduluru in Eluru district on Tuesday. He said former Dendulur MLA Chinthamaneni Prabhakar was implicated in nearly 43 cases and that he was also sent to jail. Claiming that the people had seen only his soft side so far, Naidu wanted to show how hard he could be in handling certain issues. He warned of serious action against those who booked TD leaders and cadre in various cases. The TD chief said chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy wasted his time and did not develop the state in the last five years. He asked the people whether the prices of essentials had gone up or not, and whether their incomes were down while day-to-day expenditure to run households had gone up. He vowed to abolish the Land Titling Act once the three-party alliance was elected to power. He said Jagan Reddy revised the power tariff nine times during his five year rule. But, during the previous TD term, there was no tariff revision, he claimed. He listed the series of taxes imposed by the YSRC government and promised the people that he would make efforts to withdraw them based on feasibility. Referring to Jagan Mohan Reddys assurances to announce DSC, issue of job calendar etc, Naidu said that he failed to fulfill his own promises. He blamed Jagan Mohan Reddy for adopting the politics of murder, referring to cases of Y.S. Vivekananda Reddy, a Dalit driver and others. He listed out a series of sops mentioned in Super Six of the party manifesto and vowed efforts to complete execution of the Polavaram irrigation project works and the Chintalapudi Lift Irrigation scheme in addition to taking up two more lift schemes on Polavaram Right Main Canal to ensure supply of water for irrigation to the farmers in its command area.

Hassles Continue for Social Security Pension Beneficiaries in May

AP government logo AP government logo Vijayawada: Nearly 50 lakh social security pension beneficiaries in AP are waiting to receive their pensions through their bank accounts in May. The absence of bank branches in their localities is troubling a majority of them. The YSRC alleges that the leaders of Telugu Desam, Jana Sena, and BJP created trouble for lakhs of elderly, disabled, and sick people by obstructing the normal disbursement of pensions through Volunteers. They complained to the Election Commission seeking a temporary halt of the volunteer service by citing the election code of conduct. The state government made alternative arrangements for the distribution of the pensions to the beneficiaries, using DBT (electronic transfer) or the regular government staff. It decided to disburse social security pensions through DBT for 8,92,503 out of the 65,49,864 pensioners, forming 74.70 per cent in this mode. The rest of the beneficiaries who were aged and unable to move would get pensions at their doorsteps through the Village and Ward Secretariat employees. There are 27,800 villages in 26 districts. There are 10,000 bank branches in AP, but a majority of them are situated in urban and semi-urban areas. The absence of a bank will force the beneficiaries to go to their account-holding bank branches to withdraw the pension amounts. A majority of the pensioners do not have a UPI facility. Those who had the pensions at their doorsteps for the past five years are deeply upset over the EC-inspired decision to deposit the money in their bank accounts. Several beneficiaries say there are no bus services at their places to go to the bank and they spend money to hire autorickshaws. Hence they are forced to opt for auto-rickshaws. Worse, they are worried about the health impact because of the harsh summer. To receive Rs 3,000 we now spend RS 50 for travel and other expenses, a pensioner said with a tinge of sadness. The beneficiaries sought continuation of pension disbursement at their doorsteps a system introduced by Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy - considering their present travails. YSRCs grievance cell state president Narayana Murthy said around 36 elderly persons died in their bid to receive pensions at secretariats during this month. This was a conspiracy by Chandrababu, he said in a direct hit on the Telugu Desam chief. YSRC MLA Sudhakar Babu said, Jagan Mohan Reddy brought the biggest revolution through the Volunteer system under which 2.66 lakh volunteers rendered selfless service for the past five years for a nominal honorarium. Naidu and his supporters were jealous and inhumanly stopped the Volunteer services. Naidu must take the responsibility for the death of 36 beneficiaries.

Voting for Naidu means bidding adieu to welfare schemes: Andhra Pradesh CM

VIJAYAWADA : Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy on Monday reiterated that the people will lose all the benefits of welfare schemes, if TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu is voted to power. He said: All the welfare schemes will become Govinda Govinda (withdrawn). While addressing election rallies at Chodavaram, P Gannavaram and Ponnur Assembly constituencies, Jagan pointed out after the bifurcation of the State, Hyderabad was supposed to be the joint capital for 10 years, allowing the Andhra Pradesh government to administer the State from there. However, due to Naidus involvement in cash for vote case, Andhra Pradesh lost that as well, he added. He observed that though the people of the State witnessed Visakhapatnams promising future, Naidu overlooked it and proposed to establish the capital elsewhere in Amaravati. People trusted Naidu that he will get Special Category Status to the State, but he compromised on it with the BJP at the Centre. If you vote for Naidu, all the schemes that are now in implementation in the State will be discontinued, he said. Noting that people who believe in Naidu will lose all benefits, he showed the pamphlet of TDPs 2014 promises, which were not fulfilled. He also highlighted the unkept promises of TDP like unemployment dole of Rs 2,000, farm loan waiver of Rs 87,612 crore, Rs 14,205 crore loan waiver for DWCRA groups and others. He said: People voted for Naidu in 2014 trusting that he will keep his promises, but what happened after the elections? Govinda Govinda, Jagan quipped. Naidu ruled as chief minister for 14 years, but can anyone recall even one good thing he had done? Do you remember any of his schemes? he asked the gathering. Highlighting the initiatives taken by his government, Jagan said, I deposited Rs 2.70 lakh crore through DBT without the beneficiaries having to pay any bribes. But what did Naidu do during his regime apart from looting the State. If Naidu pays you money for votes, take it since the money is ours, but everyone should think before voting. If you want to change the future of the poor and continue all the welfare schemes, vote for the fan symbol and make it win all the 175 Assembly seats and 25 MP seats, the YSRC president said. Likening the upcoming elections to the Kurukshetra battle, he said the elections are being fought between the poor and a habitual liar that Naidu is. He failed to fulfil even one of the promises he made, whereas I can confidently say I have accomplished 99% of the promises made in the manifesto. I am fighting against the opposition alliance led by Chandrababu Naidu, his foster son Pawan Kalyan, along with them a party which has a vote bank smaller than NOTA numbers Chandrababus Congress, the CM said. Naidu is desperate to defeat the YSRC since the government has disbursed benefits to all sections of society and provided welfare measures like supporting 53 lakh mothers to help them send their children to school through the Amma Vodi scheme, Jagan said. We have all seen how Naidu has disregarded the manifesto from 2014. Since he cant claim a single accomplishment, he is hurling abuses at me. He calls me a bacha (child). The bacha is contesting in all constituencies all alone relying on the States progress, Jagan said and ridiculed the Naidu for taking the help of the other parties by striking an alliance with them.

Sajjala: Naidu shedding crocodile tears over plight of pensioners

VIJAYAWADA : YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy accused TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu of shedding crocodile tears over the plight of pensioners after hindering the process of disbursing social security pensions to the beneficiaries at their doorsteps. Hours after Naidu demanded the State government to disburse pensions at the beneficiaries doorstep rather than transferring the money into their bank accounts, Sajjala quipped that the government does not need the TDP chiefs guidance. You are responsible for the plight of elderly people who were made to walk in heat for their pensions. You are to be blamed for the death of 32 elderly people, Sajjala alleged. He also blamed Jana Sena Party president Pawan Kalyan and BJP State unit chief Daggubati Purandeswari for the fiasco. Sajjala asserted that people will not lose trust on Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy, if the door delivery of pensions is stopped for a month. People show love towards a person who does good for them and volunteers have earned that goodwill of the people. It was your (Naidu) wrong thinking that they will influence the voters before elections, he said and added that people will remember the one who is giving the benefit and not the one who delivers it. Further, the YSRC leader alleged that Naidu got the door delivery of pensions stopped through a benami as he feared backlash. As the first of the month is approaching, Naidu is demanding that 1.20 lakh secretariat staff should be used for disbursing pensions at their doorsteps, Sajjala claimed.

TDP chief accuses Jagan of conspiring to grab lands

VIJAYAWADA: Claiming that the people might lose power over their lands once the AP Land Titling Act is enforced, TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu alleged that Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy was conspiring to grab lands through the Act. Addressing a public meeting at Dhone and Nandikotkur in Nandyal district as part of Praja Galam on Monday, he called on the people to chase the pyscho Chief Minister away. Since the British era, we have the land records and Pattadar passbooks on our names. But Jagan has announced to digitise the records. This will ruin our lives as influential persons will get hold of your lands simply by changing the names online. A person in Vontimitta committed suicide recently because of such an incident, Naidu said. Asking the public whether they have ever seen any Chief Minister in the country who did not go to the Secretariat during the entire five-year tenure, Naidu sought to know, Did Jagan build any project in the State in these five years or provided even a single job to anyone? The TDP chief accused Jagan of mortgaging peoples health by not clearing pending dues to the tune of Rs 1,500 crore to Aarogyasri-empanelled hospitals. In a dig at Finance Minister and YSRCs Dhone candidate, he said Buggana Rajendranath neither goes to the Secretariat nor is he present in his constituency, but always stays in New Delhi seeking loans for the State. Buggana must realise the fact that being in power does not mean seeking debts or narrating cock and bull stories. Instead of strengthening the financial system, this government has mortgaged even the State Secretariat, he alleged. Claiming that YSRC leaders are under the false impression that power is permanent, he accused them of trying to illegally grab the lands of innocent people by taking law into their hands. Reiterating his commitment to provide 20 lakh jobs in the coming five years, the former chief minister remarked that the youth in the State can prosper only if the NDA comes to power in the State and at the Centre. If I am elected, I am promising you all that power tariff will never be revised and there will be no power cuts. Also, I am assuring you all that a better Pay Revision Commission (PRC) will be announced for the government employees, the TDP supremo asserted. Naidu slams govt for dodging door delivery of pensions Speaking to mediapersons in Kurnool district, Naidu sought to know why the government is not taking steps for distribution of pension to the beneficiaries at their doorstep despite having sufficient employees. He said the YSRC government, after claiming several lives by forcing pensioners to go to the village secretariats for getting their pensions last month, was now forcing them again to go to the banks in the blazing heat. He added that the government will have to take responsibility, if any pensioner dies in his attempt to receive pension. Naidu said that it was unfortunate on part of some of the officials involved in the conspiracies of the ruling YSRC in distribution of pensions. There are about 1.26 lakh secretariat employees, 15,000 Panchayat secretaries, 5,000 each of Velugu and agricultural department employees and 3,000 horticulture staff members at the governments disposal at the village-level. The exercise of delivering pensions at the doorstep can be completed in a single day by using their services, he said. Terming the deaths official murders, Naidu said, What is most regrettable is that officials, too, are becoming partners in the perpetration of crimes by the ruling party. He charged Jagan with not discharging his bounden duties and instead resorting to cheap politics. He alleged that the YSRC chief was deliberately forcing the elderly pensioners to go to the village secretariats as he was aware of the lack of funds in the State exchequer. Further, he accused the ruling YSRC of making lame excuses such as employees do not know the addresses of the pensioners to avoid doorstep delivery of pensions. With the ECI directing the State government to pay pension through DBT and doorstep delivery, Naidu asked how did the government manage to get pensioners bank accounts now. Blaming Chief Secretary KS Jawahar Reddy, and other officers for the delay in distribution of pensions in April, Naidu made it clear that the official machinery, too, should not take into consideration the directions of the CM after the Model Code of Conduct comes into force.

Andhra Pradesh: NDA suffers double whammy from rebels & common symbol

VIJAYAWADA: In a setback to the tripartite alliance, several rebel candidates of the TDP, BJP and Jana Sena remained in the poll fray as they did not withdraw their nominations. Allocation of the Glass (JSPs election symbol) to independent candidates in several constituencies came as another blow to the parties. This is expected to hinder the smooth transfer of votes between the alliance partners. With the Election Commission of India declaring the Glass as a free symbol, several independent candidates vied for it as people are familiar with the poll symbol. Except in the 21 Assembly and two Lok Sabha segments, from where the JSP candidates are contesting, the EC kept Glass as free symbol in the remaining constituencies. Interestingly, some TDP rebels also got the Glass symbol. With time allocated for withdrawal of nominations ending on Monday, TDP rebels remained in the race in Undi, Vizianagaram, Madugula, Kavali, Amalapuram and some other Assembly segments. From Undi, Siva Rama Raju, who aspired for a TDP ticket refused to withdraw his nomination. He is expected to breach the vote bank of TDP candidate K Raghu Rama Krishna Raju to some extent. Subsequently, the TDP suspended six rebels who remained in the fray defying the party line. Meesala Gita, Venkata Sivarama Raju & 4 others suspended The suspended leaders include Siveri Abraham (Araku), Meesala Gita (Vizianagaram), P Syam Kumar (Amalapuram), M Surya Chandra Rao (Polavaram), V Venkata Sivarama Raju (Undi) and J Rajasekhar (Satyavedu). Former MLA Meesala Gita is set to square off against TDP candidate Aditi Gajapathi Raju. Gita was one of the leaders who was given the Glass symbol. From Madugula, TDP rebel Ramanaidu will contest against former minister Bandaru Satyanarayana Murthy. On the other hand, JSP rebel Patakam Suryachandra, who is contesting the election as an independent from Jaggampeta constituency, also got the Glass symbol. With three independents vying for the Glass, the officials took a lottery and allocated the symbol to Suryachandra. Similarly, BJP leader Paripurnanda Swamy, who aspired to contest either as an MP or an MLA from Hindupur, did not withdraw his nomination for the Hindupur Assembly segment. The face-off will be between Swamy and TDP candidate N Balakrishna. As per reports, the Glass symbol was allocated to independents contesting from Madanapalli, Srikalahasti Chandragiri, Raptadu, Kavali, Kamalapuram and some other Assembly constituencies.

VIJAYAWADA: The joint election manifesto of the TDP-BJP-JSP alliance christened Praja Manifesto will be released at the residence of TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu at Undavalli on Tuesday. Naidu along with JSP chief Pawan Kalyan and prominent leaders of the BJP will release the joint manifesto. The TDP, which had already announced its first part of manifesto during the Mahanadu held at Rajamahendravaram in May 2023, later forged an alliance with the JSP and BJP. The manifesto was prepared with the theme - Rashtra Prajala Neti Avasaralu Teerustham Repati Akankshalu Sakaram Chestam (To fulfil the present day needs and work towards realisation of the future requirements). Sources further informed that the manifesto focused on development of every region and welfare of people without levying a burden of high taxes. Through the manifesto, the tripartite alliance will present a clear roadmap on development in the coming five years, and will have schemes that will bring changes in the lives of the people, besides ensuring the comprehensive development of the State, the sources added. CPM, CPI, Congress slam YSRC, BJP, TD for caste-based politics

Vijayawada: Leaders from the Communist Party of India (Marxist) (CPM), Communist Party of India (CPI), and Congress raised concerns about increased caste-based politics and economic distress under administrations led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Minister YS Jagan Reddy, and former Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu during an election rally in Vijayawada's 24th Division on Monday. At the rally, CPM candidate Ch Baburao, CPI leader KV Bhaskara Rao and Congress leader Misala Rajeswara Rao, criticised rival parties for exploiting caste sentiments to garner votes while neglecting public issues. They pinpointed the struggles of small and middle-class traders, attributing these to the GST, demonetisation, and the COVID-19 pandemic. They also expressed concerns about rising prices in transport and construction, exacerbated by stagnant projects like the capital Amaravati. The YSRC promise to relocate the administrative capital to Visakhapatnam was condemned as a betrayal, they said. The communists said that they are sole opponents of policies like the GST and the dominance of large retail companies. They committed to supporting small and middle-class traders and industries, ensuring a peaceful environment in Vijayawada free from violence.

Election Commission Allots Glass Symbol to TD Rebels

Visakhapatnam: The allotment of Glass symbol for some Independents in the assembly and LS polls in Andhra Pradesh this time is causing a new headache for the TD-JS-BJP alliance leaders. Glass symbol is associated with the Jana Sena, but it remains a free symbol. It can be allotted to any independent candidate in constituencies where the JS has no nominee. This means that in constituencies where the JS is supporting candidates of its alliance partners TD or BJP, an independent can contest on Glass symbol. The deadline for withdrawal of nominations has passed. Meesala Geetha, a former MLA, is running as a rebel candidate for the Vizianagaram assembly seat. Geetha was unhappy when the TD gave the Vizianagaram ticket to Aditi Gajapathi Raju. She filed her nomination as an independent. The Election Commission allotted her the glass symbol. Similarly, independent candidates in Madanapalli, Sringavarapukota, Jaggayyapet, Maidukuru and Vijayawada Lok Sabha seats have also been allotted the Glass symbol. This is a matter of serious worry for the three-party alliance. Many TD rebel candidates and independents have been allotted this symbol in various constituencies. Jana Sena is conteting 21 assembly and two Lok Sabha seats while it is backing the alliance partners TD and BJP in the rest of the 175 assembly and 25 LS constituencies. The election campaigns are in full swing. The glass symbol has been associated with JS since its inception.

Pawan Sent Out Kapus from Jana Sena

Vijayawada : YSRC leader Potina Venkata Mahesh has alleged that Jana Sena leader Pawan Kalyan did injustice to the Kapus. Mahesh alleged that Pawan Kalyan took a package from Telugu Desam chief Chandrababu and pledged the self-respect of the Kapus to the TD chief. After 2019, why did only Kapus leave the Jana Sena party? Were all the Kapus sent out of the party by orders from Chandrababu or TD broker Nadendla Manohar? Why did Anjibabu leave the party, Mahesh told the media on Monday. Why was there no response from Pawan when Kapu leader Mudragada Padmanabhams family was attacked? Why did he not answer the letters written by Harirama Joggayya? Nothing is permanent in Pawan Kalyan's life, all are temporary affairs? Chandrababu Naidu is levelling baseless allegations against Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. We are ready to discuss unemployment and job creation. Does the alliance have the courage to discuss this? Chief minister Jagan Mohan Reddy brought BR Ambedkar's ideology into reality by doing justice to people of all communities. Jagan Mohan Reddy did good for the Kapus while Pawan Kalyan is working to convert the Kapus into the Yellow Army, he said.

Jagan Lashes Out at Naidu for his 'Bacha Jibe

Vijayawada : Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has lashed out at Telugu Desam chief N. Chandrababu Naidu for calling him a bachcha (child) and asked him why he failed to care for the states poor during his rule. Why could you not implement any welfare scheme during your 14 years reign, unlike what I did in the last five years, he asked Naidu. Addressing a rally as part of his campaign tour at Ponnur Island Centre in Guntur district on Monday, he listed out his welfare initiatives, the Rythu Bharosa Kendras, Village Health Clinics, Family Doctor programme, development of government schools and hospitals under Nadu-Nedu, Amma Vodi, Aasara, Cheyutha, EBC Nestham and pension scheme of Rs.3,000 among others. If I am still a bachcha in politics, why did you not show the courage to fight me straight rather than allying with other parties before the polls, Jagan Mohan Reddy asked Naidu. Jagan Mohan Reddy urged the people, I appeal to you all to elect all 175 YSRC nominees for the Assembly and 25 for the Lok Sabha without giving even a singe seat to other parties. I promise you to continue with the welfare schemes for all your benefit. Pulling out the manifesto of the Telugu Desam released in 2014 with the photos of Naidu, Jana Sena chief Pawan Kalyan and BJP leaders, the Chief Minister asked Naidu, You slept for five years. When are you going to implement these promises? The CM claimed, Nearly 31 lakh house site pattas were given away to women beneficiaries of our housing scheme and construction of 22 lakh houses is on. The CM said that when he formed the Cabinet, he gave fair representation to disadvantaged sections of the population. Some 68 per cent of it comprised ministers from SCs, STs, BCs and minorities, he said. I pressed the computer button 135 times to transfer Rs.2.70 lakh crore to the scheme beneficiaries, of which 75 per cent were poor. Even for the 175 Assembly and 25 Lok Sabha seats, 50 per cent of the nominees belonged to the SC, ST, BC and minorities. The YSRC is committed to the cause of social justice. Earlier, while addressing a meeting at Ambajipeta, the YSRC chief said the present elections were not between himself and Chandababu Naidu. It rather is a fight between the poor and the fraud perpetrated by Naidu. If the YSR Congress is elected to power for a second term, it would continue all the welfare schemes with more benefits to the beneficiaries. But, if the TD-led alliance forms the government, it would discontinue all such schemes. Naidu has a habit of not implementing his promises, he stressed. Earlier in the day at Kothur Junction of Chodavaram of Anakapalli district, Jagan Mohan Reddy said, If you vote for Chandrababu Naidu, all the welfare schemes in the state will turn into GovindaGovinda. Naidu failed to get Special Category Status to AP and he failed to keep Hyderabad as the common capital for both AP and TS. He was in a hurry to exit from Hyderabad and reach the newly formed AP, for fear he would be jailed there in the note for vote case, the CM said.

Naidu, Pawan Should Disclose their Stand Muslim Reservations

Vijayawada: YSRCs Muslim Minority leaders are objecting to the BJP plan for cancellation of 4 per cent reservation to the Minorities. They demand that TD chief Chandrababu Naidu and his associate and JS leader Pawan Kalyan announce their stand on this issue. YSRCs minority cell state president Khader Basha asked, Who gave Chandrababu the right to play with Muslims lives? How can he support the cancellation of Muslims reservations? The BJP leaders are saying that they will cancel the Muslim reservations. Does Naidu have the guts to say this will not happen? Recalling a recent statement of Union minister Piyush Goyal in Vijayawada, Khader Basha said Goyal clearly mentioned the BJP plan to cancel the Muslim reservations in AP but, sadly, there is no response from Chandrababu. Muslims will not forgive Chandrababu for any mistake he makes in such matters. Naidu had registered cases against Muslims for demanding implementation of the promises he gave to Muslims during the TD term. Khader Basha noted that Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan silent regarding the Muslims reservations issue raised by their ally, the BJP. Chandrababu cheated people by giving 650 promises and not implementing them. Chief minister Jagan Reddy offered 11 posts to minorities in his government including the Deputy CM post. Naidu and Pawan should announce their stand on reservations for Muslims as NDA's stand is already known. Several minority leaders of the YSRC criticised Naidu and Pawan for not responding to the decision of the BJP cancelling Muslims reservations.

Andhra Pradesh govt yet to release Rs 1,500 crore dues under Arogyasri scheme: ASHA

VIJAYAWADA: The representatives of the Andhra Pradesh Specialty Hospitals Association (ASHA) stated that the governments negligence in paying funds related to Arogyasri, Employees Health Scheme (EHS), and other health schemes in the State will make managing private hospitals extremely difficult. The State government is not providing sufficient payments to private hospitals through the Aarogyasri scheme, and further aggravating the situation by delaying payments for more than six months, stated Vice President of the association Dr Y Ramesh Babu. Managing the hospitals has become burdensome as they have to invest in the beneficiarys care. Dr Babu revealed that nearly Rs 1,500 crore of Arogyasri payments were yet to be released by the government and appealed to the authorities to release the arrears every 45 days as per the MoU. Another Vice President Dr K Vijay Kumar pointed out that the government made partial payments to hospitals in August and for some in September, but since then, they havent released any further funds regarding arrears. He stressed the distinction between surgical and medical procedures, emphasising that the costs of medical procedures cannot be standardised.ASHA Secretary Dr Avinash recommended that the incoming government consider implementing an insurance method similar to that during the launch of the Arogyasri scheme under Dr YS Rajashekar Reddys tenure, as the current packages do not adequately cover the actual procedure costs. District Coordinator Dr Nageswara Rao noted that when Arogyasri was launched in 2013, under poverty line beneficiaries were minimal, with an income ceiling of Rs 70,000 per family. However, this has since increased to Rs 5 lakh, and the number of procedures covered has risen from 900 to 3,200. He said several high-end hospitals have expressed inefficiencies in implementing Arogyasri which shows the current situation and the number raised of the situation remains the same.

Naidu says YSRC spewing lies, NDA wont repeal Muslim reservation

VIJAYAWADA: TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu on Sunday accused the YSRC of spreading canards that the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) will repeal reservations for Muslims, if voted to power. He emphasised that it was the TDP which fought legally in support of 4% reservations for the Muslims. Incidentally, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, during an election campaign in Telangana recently, promised to scrap the 4% reservations implemented by the Congress and BRS governments in the State and provide the benefit to Scheduled Castes (SCs), Scheduled Tribes (STs) and Other Backward Classes (OBCs), if NDA wins the Lok Sabha polls. Addressing a gathering of Muslims in Nellore, Naidu alleged that the YSRC was resorting to false propaganda on various issues concerning the Muslims. I ask YS Jagan Mohan Reddy (Chief Minister and YRSC president), whether or not his party had extended unconditional support for the amendment of CAA and NRC in Parliament or not. An MP, who is now contesting for Nellore Lok Sabha seat, spoke in the Rajya Sabha in support of the Act. Now, they are claiming that injustice is being meted out to Muslims (by the NDA), the TDP supremo said. Pointing out that the issue pertaining to 4% reservations for Muslims is in the Supreme Court since 2014, the former chief minister recalled, Through your (YSRC) leader, Aziz, who was then the Nellore Mayor, I had engaged lawyers and fought the case in favour of the reservations. Assuring Muslims that they will not be discriminated, the former chief minister said the TDP has been a part of the NDA earlier, too, but it had never allowed any kind of injustice to be done to the community. Once the NDA comes to power in these elections, all welfare schemes for Muslims that were rescinded will be revived. New schemes will also be introduced, he asserted. Stating that he was the one who had constructed a number of mosques in the State, he charged the YSRC with ignoring the welfare of the community. Naidu promised to extend Rs 1 lakh financial assistance to every Muslim for Haj pilgrimage, if the NDA forms government in the State. While the TDP has built a Haj House for the benefit of the Muslim community, Jagan has built palaces for his own comfort, Naidu alleged. Recounting that the Urdu University in Hyderabad was established during the TDP regime and when Atal Bihari Vajpayee was the Prime Minister, he said Haj Houses, too, were built there by the then TDP government. He regretted that attacks on Muslim women were on the rise in the past five years in the State. Muslim brethren in Hyderabad are far ahead of people of their community in other parts of the country because of the initiatives taken by the TDP, Naidu said.

Be wary of TDPs impractical promises: Andhra CM Jagan

VIJAYAWADA: Kick-starting his third phase of campaigning for the Assembly and Lok Sabha elections, YSRC president and Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday urged people to vote for his party to ensure continuity of welfare schemes and development projects. However, he cautioned them against voting for Chandrababu Naidu and his TDP, claiming that he will only end welfare and development measures that being implemented now. Addressing election rallies at Tadipatri, Venkatagiri, and Kandukur, Jagan reiterated that he only made promises which he could implement, unlike TDP which does exactly the opposite. The TDP has no intention to keep any of the promises it makes. They will come out with impractical promises to deceive the people, he said. In Kandukur of Nellore district, he said Opposition leader Chandrababu Naidu, his foster son Pawan Kalyan, and sister-in-law Daggubati Purandeswari are outsiders as they live in Hyderabad. These kitty party non-local leaders are the New East India Company members who are here to loot and share the spoils among themselves, he said and urged people to reject such leaders. In Venkatagiri of Tirupati district, Jagan criticised Naidu for his inability to claim one scheme or project as his achievement in his 14-year-long stint as chief minister. Unlike Chandrababu Naidu who failed in delivering on his promises, we have implemented welfare schemes which included YSR Cheyutha, Aasara, Jagananna Chedodu, financial assistance to farmers, Jagananna Thodu, Kapu Nestam, and EBC Nestham in a transparent manner, he pointed out and challenged Naidu to try and stop any of the schemes. The Chief Minister also asked Naidu whether TDP will restore the Janmabhoomi committees by suspending the volunteer system if they come to power. You (Naidu) have served as chief minister for 14 years, whereas my tenure was for 58 months. Despite this, when it comes to the welfare schemes, your approach seems to consist solely of duplicating my efforts and amplifying them to sway voters during the election, the YSRC president claimed. In Tadipatri, referring to the movie characters and their famous punch lines like Chandramukhi (Laka Laka Laka) and Pasupathi (Vadala Bhomali Ninu Vadala), the Chief Minister said Naidu will be like these characters who do not leave people until they satiate their thirst to plunder the State. Dont be misled by his assurances, Jagan cautioned the people. He said the YSRC considers the manifesto a holy book like the Bible, Quran, and Bhagavad Gita. Reiterating that he has fulfilled all the assurances he had made in 2019, he promised to do so, if elected again. I have pressed the button 130 times to credit Rs 2.70 lakh crore to the bank accounts of the beneficiaries, he said and promised the establishment of an Agriculture College in Tadipatri constituency. Jagan highlighted the revolutionary measures taken by his government like revamping government schools, village clinics, and Aarogya Suraksha for doorstep delivery of health services, and financial assistance without corruption and in a transparent manner.

Sajjala: No new schemes, yet Naidu jittery

VIJAYAWADA: Mocking TDP chief N Chandrababu Naidu for making a spree of promises, but not fulfilling them, YSRC general secretary Sajjala Ramakrishna Reddy said the manifesto released by YSRC president YS Jagan Mohan Reddy may not look impressive as there are no new schemes. He added, For us, manifesto is not just about announcing doles. We fulfilled 99% promises we made in 2019, giving a new meaning to a manifesto. Speaking to reporters on Sunday, he questioned why Naidu was feeling jittery when there was nothing new in the YSRC manifesto. Naidu is questioning about our unfulfilled promises. What about him, who made hundreds of promises before the 2014 elections and removed the manifesto from the party official website 15 minutes before the elections? Sajjala asked. During a campaign, Naidu sought to know what will happen if Jagan is killed. Responding, Sajjala said the remarks will be taken seriously.

No mention of dry law, SCS in YSRC manifesto: Sharmila

VIJAYAWADA: APCC president YS Sharmila Reddy on Sunday demanded the YSRC to explain to people why it did not include Special Category Status in its manifesto. Addressing a public meeting as part of the Congress partys AP Nyaya Yatra, she sought to know what happened to total prohibition. Criticising the Chief Minister, she said, Jagan lacks credibility as none of his promises have been fulfilled. Irrigation projects remain incomplete, promised jobs were not provided. Jagans manifesto has no value. Earlier, speaking to mediapersons, she reiterated her allegations against Additional Advocate General Ponnavolu Sudhakar Reddy. She said he got his post within six days of the YSRC forming the government in the State. It was a return gift for helping Jagan include the name of YS Rajasekhara Reddy in the CBI chargesheet, she alleged and said it was quid pro quo, as Jagan would come out of jail and Ponnavolu would get the post. CBI has not included the name of YSR in the list and it was petitions of Sudhakar Reddy in the Supreme Court, that saw YSRs name included in the chargesheet, she said.

What young Andhra wants from the new government

VIJAYAWADA: Jobs are at the centre of the debate with elections fast approaching and political parties launching their manifestos. With students busy with end-semester exams, there is no election buzz on the campus of Andhra Loyola College in Vijayawada. Nonetheless, thanks to social media, they are quite aware of the developments in the political arena and are also vocal about their expectations from the leaders. Politicians are advising students to set up paani-puri stalls. Thats not how it works. Every day, I proudly tell my parents I am going to college. Similarly, after I graduate, I want to be able to tell them that I am going to office, Manjunath, a final year MBA student, tells TNIE. As many as 4.07 crore people in Andhra Pradesh are set to cast their vote on May 13. Among them are over 8.13 lakh voters in the 18-19 age group, accounting for almost 2% of the electorate. A group of students, excited to cast their first vote, raised several issues that affected them and voiced what they want from the new government. They rued that not many industries and IT companies were set up in the State. A question on the capital issue set off giggles among the group. There are so many memes that pop up on our Instagram feeds, making fun of the State for not having a capital. We want a capital. In Amaravati, a first-year MBA student, Rayana Kumari, said. Countering her, another student, Fouziya, argued, We may not have a capital. But development has not been limited to a particular city or region in the State. We know what happened during the bifurcation. Hyderabad became part of Telanagana and we were left with nothing. Sravani, a second-year MBA student who aspires to be a legislator, found fault with the YSRC government for dismissing the previous TDP governments plan to develop Amaravati as the capital and instead proposing to set up three capitals. Vizag is not a small town. It is already developed. Stopping all work that was happening in Amaravati and proposing to develop a city that is already developed is not right, she opined. Majority of the students wishlist for the new government included jobs and development. While some hoped for YSRC to retain power and shift its focus to developing the State and providing jobs for youth, others wished for TDP supremo N Chandrababu Naidu to recreate his Hyderabad story in Amaravati. On the welfare front, Sai Swetha felt that the YSRC has done a better job at distributing financial assistance. However, she hoped that once the YSRC comes to power again, it will focus on creating jobs in the State so that youngsters do not have to move to other cities for work. On the other hand, K Leela Chakradhar opined that welfare schemes were making people lazy. I support TDP. We have seen how Naidu developed Hyderabad. It is now a major IT hub, he said. Another student, Nakula Sahadev, argued why the onus of providing jobs should be on the government. People should study and find jobs for themselves. It is impossible for the government to provide five crore (reference to population of State) jobs. Even the Central government cannot provide so many jobs. Venting his frustration over the current political landscape, Manjunath felt that there was no promising leader in the State. A good leader makes a good party and a good government. YS Rajasekhara Reddy (former Chief Minister) was a doctor and had expertise in agriculture. So, he introduced schemes in the health and agriculture sectors. Naidu is an entrepreneur and an innovator. That helped him develop Hyderabad as an IT hub. But who is YS Jagan Mohan Reddy? he asked. While he appreciated the YSRC government for the reforms brought in the education sector, he said more needs to be done for the youth of the State. He also believed that JSP chief Pawan Kalyan would make for a good Opposition leader. However, UG student Ashok Reddy felt otherwise. How can Pawan Kalyan rule the State from outside? he sought to know. Highlighting the YSRC governments initiatives, Chatla Ruthwik said Jagan has developed the State from the ground-level. Naidu, on the other hand, focused only on urban areas. Extending complete support to the YSRC president, another student, Suhas Raj said, Development cannot happen in five years. Since Jagan has given aid under several welfare schemes in his first tenure, he will hopefully focus on youth, infrastructure and jobs in the next term.

Poll battle heats up in Jaggaiahpet

VIJAYAWADA: With elections in Andhra Pradesh just two weeks away, the poll battle in Jaggaiahpet Assembly constituency is expected to be intense. Sitting MLA and YSRC candidate Samineni Udayabhanu is confident of his victory for the fourth time due to remarkable development in the constituency over the past three years. While his opponent Sriram Rajgopal from TDP, a two-time MLA, is largely banking on anti-incumbency over the YSRC government and support from the Kamma and Vyshya community. In the past three years, sitting MLA Samineni was instrumental in securing around Rs 200 crore in funds from State and Central governments to carry out various development works. These include improving the road network between Chillakallu and Jaggaiahpet, enhancing parks in Jaggaiahpet town, providing water supply to outskirt villages, allotting house to the poor residing in industrial areas, and other works undertaken in the constituency, including the setting up of passenger train facilities for Jaggaiahpet town. The development works undertaken in the town and surrounding areas within the segment are a testament to the commitment of the YSRC government. Despite winning twice, the previous MLA failed to develop the constituency headquarters. During YSRCs government, the town underwent significant development, improving the lifestyle of its residents, said Udaybhanu. On the other hand, the 60-year-old politician Sriram Rajgopal is confident that the TDP will win in the 2024 elections. The TDP has been behind the development works carried out in the past five years in the constituency, and unfortunately, YSRC is claiming credit for it. The public will vote in favour of TDP as they strongly believe that development and welfare can be achieved only with the TDP, Sriram Rajagopal said. Hailing from the Vyshya community, Rajgopal is contesting for the fourth time from the Jaggaiahpet assembly constituency. He won twice in 2009 and 2014 and lost in 2019. He began his political career with the Congress party and later joined the TDP in 2004, serving as Jaggaiahpet municipality society chairman. According to statistics obtained from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), there are a total of 2,03,566 electors in the assembly constituency, with 97,658 male voters, 1,05,896 female voters, and 12 third-gender voters. Jaggaiahpet is considered a stronghold for both TDP and the YSRCP. In the 2019 elections, Udayabhanu from YSRC won with a majority of around 4,000 votes against his opponent TDP candidate Sriram Rajagopal. In the Jaggaiahpet assembly segment, Kamma, Kapu, BC, and Muslim voters are in significant numbers and play a vital role in deciding the fate of contestants. While TDP leaders are seeking the support of Nettam Raghuram, a former MLA, to gain support from the Kamma community, YSRC candidate Udayabhanu is focusing on the BC and Muslim communities, as well as women voters. More than 40,000 voters are from the Kamma community, and support from this particular community could increase the winning chances of the TDP.

Kshatriya Samithi Announces Support to Jagan

Vijayawada: AP Kshatriya Hakkula Sadhana Samithi on Sunday announced its support to Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy, saying it is in favour of his governments development and welfare agenda. Speaking at an interactive programme with YSRC Vijayawada Central candidate Vellampalli Srinivasa Rao, samithi president Krishnam Raju appreciated the YSRC government for giving top priority to welfare and development for the past five years. The Central candidate said YSRC is working for the welfare of Kshatriyas and has also encouraged them politically. He said Jagan government is committed to the development of temples; in particular, it will develop Kanakadurga Temple in Vijayawada like the Tirumala shrine. Srinivasa Rao accused Telugu Desam of trying to incite hatred in the name of religion. But people distrust the oppositions baseless allegations, he stated. The YSRC candidate maintained that Jagan is not opposed to Amaravati. But spending lakhs of crores on it is heedless. Instead, Visakhapatnam can be developed to compete with Hyderabad, Mumbai and Chennai cities with minimal cost. He maintained that CM Jagan is committed to retaining Amaravati as the Legislative Capital. He claimed that development of all three regions of the state is possible only under the YSRC government. Kshatriya leaders Sunita Lakhamraju and Venkateswara Raju were among those who addressed the gathering.

Just like frogs in a pond during rains..., says Andhra CM Reddy

Just like frogs in a pond during rains..., says Andhra CM Reddy Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Sunday launched a scathing attack against Chandrababu Naidu and Pawan Kalyan and compared them to frogs. Just like frogs in a pond during the rains, with elections around the corner, non-local leaders like Chandrababu and Pawan Kalyan are coming to seek votes by deceiving people with fraudulent promises, he said. He further lashed out saying, Once the elections get over, the non-local leaders will leave for Hyderabad. This is the attachment of these non-local leaders to the people of Andhra Pradesh. He further said that these kitty party non-local leaders are like the New East India Company members. I want to remind all that they will loot everything in the state and they would share the loot amongst themselves, he added. Earlier on Saturday, Chief Minister Reddy released the YSR Congress Party's (YSRCP) poll manifesto at the Tadepalli camp office in Vijayawada. Making slight changes to the assurances made in the 2019 manifesto under Navaratnalu, the YSRCP chief released the manifesto as Navaratnalu Plus. Jagan Mohan Reddy has promised to gradually hike welfare pensions from Rs 3,000 to Rs 3,500 per month and govern the state from Visakhapatnam. Notably, during the 2019 elections, YSRCP registered a landslide victory in Andhra Pradesh, winning 151 of the 175 seats in the Assembly, dethroning the TDP government. In general elections, the YSRCP won 22 of the 25 seats with a vote share of 49.89 per cent, while the TDP could only manage three constituencies and got 40.19 per cent votes. The two national parties--the BJP and Congress--failed to open their account in the state. However, in the 2014 Lok Sabha elections, YSRCP is contesting alone in all 25 parliamentary constituencies and the 175 seats of the state Assembly. It is up against the Congress-led INDIA bloc and the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), comprising the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former CM N Chandrababu Naidu-led Telugu Desam Party (TDP) and Pawan Kalyan's Jana Sena Party (JSP). Vijayawada: The CPM candidate from Vijayawada Central Assembly constituency Ch. Babu Rao on Sunday hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister Y.S. Jagan Mohan Reddy for their failure to fulfill poll promises. He accused both the BJP government and the state government of deceiving the people of Vijayawada with their unfulfilled promises.
