CSK Pacer Matheesha Pathirana Sidelined with Hamstring Injury, Returns to Sri Lanka

CSK Pacer Matheesha Pathirana Sidelined with Hamstring Injury, Returns to Sri Lanka Chennai Super Kings' Matheesha Pathirana's outing in the ongoing IPL is all but over as the pacer will return to Sri Lanka to recover from a hamstring injury. The right-arm slinger played six matches in this IPL, picking up 13 wickets at an economy of 7.68. ''Chennai Super Kings wishes Pathirana a quick recovery,'' the CSK stated in a media release on Sunday. Pathirana last played for CSK during their 78-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he bowled two overs and picked up the wickets of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. Pathirana missed the match against Punjab Kings at Chennai on May 1 with England pacer Richard Gleeson replacing him. The unavailability of Pathirana is a big setback to CSK as their bowling stocks have dwindled drastically in the last few days. Pace bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar too is set to miss the remainder of the IPL with a niggle he sustained during the match against Punjab at Chepauk. Chahar walked off the field after bowling just two balls and Shardul Thakuar had completed the over for him. ''Deepak Chahar doesn't look good. The initial feeling wasn't great. So, I'm hoping for a more positive report when the physio and the doctor have a look,'' CSK coach Stephen Fleming had said after that match. CSK will also be without Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana at least for a couple of more matches as he is expected to fly back to Sri Lanka to complete his USA visa process ahead of next month's T20 World Cup in the Americas. Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman's IPL stint too came to an end in the previous match against PBKS after he has joined the national team for the home T20I series against Zimbabwe.

IPL 2024: CSK Pacer Matheesha Pathirana Returns To Sri Lanka For Hamstring Injury Recovery

Chennai Super Kings: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) said on Sunday said fast-bowler Matheesha Pathirana will be returning to Sri Lanka for further recovery from a hamstring injury. Pathirana made his CSK debut in IPL 2022 season, and played a pivotal role in their title-winning run in 2023. Chennai Super Kings pacer Matheesha Pathirana is nursing a hamstring injury and will be returning to Sri Lanka for further recovery. Chennai Super Kings wishes Pathirana a quick recovery, said the franchise in a statement. Pathirana played six matches for CSK this season, picking up 13 wickets at an economy of 7.68, including a four-wicket haul against Mumbai Indians. He currently sits as CSKs second-leading wicket-taker in IPL 2024 behind Mustafizur Rahman's 14 scalps. The Sri Lankan is the second CSK pacer to be dealing with injuries this season after Deepak Chahar pulled his hamstring and went off the field after bowling the first two balls of the Punjab Kings chase at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on May 1. In ten matches of IPL 2024, defending champions CSK have lost five and have won as many games. The Ruturaj Gaikwad-led side are currently placed at fifth position on the points table and need a win over their ongoing match against Punjab Kings at the HPCA Stadium in Dharamsala to keep their IPL 2024 playoffs chances alive.

Sugar Industry Woes: Congress accuses BJP of Neglect in Uttar Pradesh

Sugar Industry Woes: Congress accuses BJP of Neglect in Uttar Pradesh The Congress on Sunday alleged that the BJP government has neglected Uttar Pradesh farmers' frequent calls to increase the price of sugarcane and 'ignored' the plight of once-thriving sugar industry in the state. Congress general secretary Jairam Ramesh posed questions to Prime Minister Narendra Modi ahead of his rallies in Etawah and Dhaurahra. ''Why has the trauma centre in Sitapur Hospital been defunct for 7 years? Was the promise to prioritise Tomato-Onion-Potato (TOP) yet another jumla? Why have sugarcane prices remained abysmally low in UP?'' Ramesh said in a post on X. Ramesh said the trauma centre at the Sitapur District Hospital has been lying unused for seven years. It was built during the tenure of the previous state government but the BJP has neglected it since coming to power, he alleged. ''As a result, patients often have to go all the way to Lucknow to avail of treatment. Why has the BJP government so callously endangered the lives of the people? Why has the trauma centre been gathering dust for the last 7 years?'' he asked. Ramesh further said the potato farmers in the state have struggled because of massive price fluctuations in the last few years. Asserting that Uttar Pradesh is India's largest potato producer, Ramesh said last year, potato growers in areas like Etawah, Farrukhabad, Kannauj and Auraiya reported selling their produce at rates below the state government's minimum price because of high produce. ''Farmers were only able to fetch Rs 500 per quintal, less than half their production cost of Rs 1200-1400 per quintal. In 2018, the PM had made the grand promise that Tomato, Onion, and Potato (TOP) were the TOP priority of his government. What happened to this TOP promise? Was it yet another jumla?'' he said. ''According to the Ministry of Agriculture, Uttar Pradesh is India's largest sugarcane producer. Yet, the BJP government has neglected farmers' frequent calls to increase the price of sugarcane,'' he alleged. He said the sugarcane prices stood at Rs 360 per quintal in UP, which is lower than Rs 386 per quintal in Punjab and Rs 391 per quintal in Haryana. ''Price hikes have also failed to keep pace with inflation and farmers are now struggling due to the rising cost of fertilisers and pesticides. The area under cultivation has also come down by almost 4,000 hectares in the last three years, which is now causing problems for UP's sugar mills,'' the Congress leader said. Amidst sugarcane shortages, mills are struggling to pay farmers on time, and many fear that the mills will shut down permanently, he alleged. ''This vicious cycle is threatening the livelihoods of sugarcane farmers and mill workers but the BJP government is nowhere to be seen. Can the PM tell us why the BJP has ignored the plight of UP's once thriving sugar industry?'' Ramesh said asking the prime minister to break his ''silence'' on these issues.

Bakshish Singh Beaten to Death Over Alleged Sacrilege at Gurdwara in Punjab

Amritsar: A 19-year-old youth identified as Bakshish Singh alias Gola was beaten to death by angry devotees over alleged sacrilege outside the premises of Gurdwara Sahib Baba Bir Singh, in village Bandala of district Ferozpur, Punjab. Bakshish allegedly tore the Holy Ang of Shri Guru Granth Sahib at the Gurdwara, after which the devotees present at the scene caught him. They dragged him outside where he was brutally beaten before being handed over to the police. Bakshish succumbed to his injuries at the hospital. For those who are unaware, the pages of Shri Guru Granth Sahib are known as Ang. Police were informed about the incident but the devotees beat him mercilessly before the police reached the scene. He was handed over to the police in an unconscious state. Police rushed him to the nearest private hospital where he succumbed to his injuries. Devotees and villagers informed police that Bakshish never visited the particular Gurdwara ever before. Speaking to the media, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), City Police Station, Sukhvinder Singh said that a young man committed sacrilege at Gurdwara Sahib Baba Bir Singh. Police added that after tearing the pages, Bakshish tried to run away. The devotees present at the Gurdwara held him and beat him to death. In a statement, Bakshish Singhs father Lakhvinder Singh said he was mentally unstable and was on medication for the past two years. A video of people beating Bakshish Singh went viral on social media platforms. An FIR under Section 295A of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) against the deceased has been registered over sacrilege at the Arifke Police Station based on the complaint of chairman of Shri Guru Granth Sahib Satkar Committees chairman Lakhvir Singh. However, Bakshishs father urged the police to file another FIR for the murder of his son. Following the incident, Shri Gurudwara Prabandhak Committee (SGPC) issued a statement and justified lynching of youth over allegations of sacrilege. In the statement, SGPC said, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh termed the death of the accused of sacrilege as a reaction to the failure to punish the culprits and give exemplary punishments by law. Moreover, the Jathedar has also ordered the Sikh Sangat to socially and religiously boycott the family of the accused of sacrilege and not to allow the last rites of the accused to be held in any Gurdwara Sahib. The complete statement by SGPC read, Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh today expressed deep grief over the incident of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji at Gurdwara Baba Bir Singh in Bandala village in Ferozepur district and termed the death of the accused of sacrilege as a reaction to the failure to punish the culprits and give exemplary punishments by law. Moreover, the Jathedar has also ordered the Sikh Sangat to socially and religiously boycott the family of the accused of sacrilege and not to allow the last rites of the accused to be held in any Gurdwara Sahib. Today in a statement issued from the Secretariat, Sri Akal Takht Sahib, Jathedar Giani Raghbir Singh said that for a long time, incidents of sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji have been taking place under a well-planned conspiracy. He said that the governments law is neither proving successful in stopping the incidents of sacrilege nor in punishing the culprits. He said that todays incident of sacrilege at Gurdwara Baba Bir Singh in Bandala village of Ferozepur district is a very unfortunate incident in this series which has hurt the sentiments of Sikhs. He said that for Sikhs there is nothing above Sri Guru Granth Sahib and incidents of sacrilege badly harm the soul and mentality of Sikhs. The Jathedar said that when the rule of law fails miserably in performing its duty, then people are forced to seek justice in their own way. He also warned the government that instead of troubling the Sangat or any Sikh regarding the death of the accused of sacrilege, the truth should be brought before the Sangat as soon as possible as to who sent the accused of sacrilege and under what conspiracy. Multiple cases of murders over alleged sacrilege in Punjab This is not the first time there has been a case of murder over alleged sacrilege in Punjab. In January this year, Nihang Sikh killed a young man at a gurudwara in Phagwara, Punjab, on suspicion of sacrilege. The accused identified as Ramandeep Singh Mangu Math, posted the footage of the youth before murdering him and claimed responsibility for the murder. In 2023, protests erupted after a man allegedly attacked two granthis (Sikh priests) and desecrated the Guru Granth Sahib at a gurudwara in Morinda. In another incident, a Punjab home guards constable was killed, and five policemen were injured in a clash with Nihang Sikhs in Kapurthalas Sultanpur Lodhi. These incidents reflect the rising tension and violence over alleged sacrilege incidents in Punjab. Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh: India Will Not Coerce Capture of PoK

New Delhi: In an interview, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh asserted that India would never give up on Pakistan-Occupied-Kashmir (PoK) but has no intention to capture it by force. He expressed confidence that the citizens of PoK would willingly join India after witnessing the development in Kashmir. Singh stated, I think India will not have to do anything. The way the ground situation has changed in Jammu and Kashmir, the way the region is witnessing economic progress, and the way peace has returned there, I think demands will emerge from people of PoK that they should merge with India. Emphasizing that PoK belongs to India, Singh said, We will not have to use force to take PoK as people would say that we must be merged with India. Such demands are now coming. The Defence Minister highlighted the improved situation in Kashmir since the abrogation of Article 370 and expressed optimism that the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA) would soon no longer be required in the Union Territory. The way the situation is improving in Jammu and Kashmir, I think a time will come when AFSPA will no longer be required there. It is my view and it is for the Home Ministry to decide on it, he said. Referring to Pakistan's proxy war in Jammu and Kashmir, Singh stressed that Islamabad must halt cross-border terrorism. They are trying to destabilise India and we will not allow it to happen, he affirmed. Addressing the eastern Ladakh border row, Singh mentioned that talks with China were ongoing, and he reassured that the country's borders would remain secure. He also noted India's rapid infrastructure development along the border areas. Singh criticized the Congress party, particularly Rahul Gandhi, stating, Rahul Gandhi has no fire but Congress is playing with fire by attempting Hindu-Muslim divide. Expressing confidence in the National Democratic Alliance (NDA), Singh projected that the alliance would secure over 400 seats, with the BJP alone winning more than 370 seats, based on a detailed assessment of the ground situation. India's Response to Nepal's New Currency Note Featuring Disputed Territories

New Delhi: India's External Affairs Minister, S Jaishankar, criticized Nepal for its unilateral action in introducing a new Nepalese Rupee 100 currency note featuring three disputed Indian territories. Speaking at an event in Bhubaneswar, Jaishankar stated that Nepal's move wouldn't alter the diplomatic situation between the two countries. Jaishankar emphasized that India and Nepal were in discussions about their boundary matters through an established platform. He mentioned that Nepal's unilateral measures wouldn't change the situation or the reality on the ground. On Friday, Nepal announced the printing of a new Nepalese Rupee 100 currency note featuring a map showing the disputed territories of Lipulekh, Limpiyadhura, and Kalapani. India has previously termed this move as untenable and an artificial enlargement. Nepal's government spokesperson, Rekha Sharma, informed the media that the decision to redesign the currency note was made during the cabinet meetings held on April 25 and May 2.Diplomatic tensions between Nepal and India escalated in 2020 after Nepal updated its map to include the three disputed territories. The move was made by Nepal's Ministry of Land Management, with the Department of Survey claiming to have incorporated the territories with accurate scale, projection, and coordinate system. However, India had already included these territories in its November 2019 map. The situation worsened further after the inauguration of a road linking Kailash Mansarovar via Lipulekh on May 8, 2020. Nepal objected to this move and handed over a diplomatic note to India. Prior to this, Nepal had raised objections to India's unilateral decision to construct the road.In response to Nepal's objections, India's External Affairs Ministry clarified that the road passing through Uttarakhand's Pithoragarh district lies entirely within Indian territory. Nepal shares a border of over 1,850 km with five Indian states, including Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, and Sikkim. Karnataka CM Siddaramaiah Exudes Confidence, Predicts Congress Victory in 20 Lok Sabha Seats

Bangalore: Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed confidence in the Congress party's victory, foreseeing that they would win at least 20 out of the 28 Lok Sabha seats in the state. He made these remarks ahead of the second phase of polling. Speaking at a joint press conference with Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar and Congress general secretary Randeep Singh Surjewala in Belagavi, Siddaramaiah asserted that the Congress government had fulfilled all the five promises made during their campaign, which secured their victory in the state.Karnataka is conducting elections for its 28 Lok Sabha seats in two phases. Polling for 14 seats was held on April 26, and the remaining seats will go to polls on May 7, during the third phase of the seven-phase Lok Sabha elections. As the campaigning ends today evening, voting will take place on May 7th. In the last phase of the election held on April 26th, according to our information, we will win 8-9 seats. In this second phase, our party workers have assured us that we will win more than 10 seats. We are confident of winning at least 20 seats because we have fulfilled all five promises that we announced. Without any intermediaries, guaranteed checks will reach every individual through me and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, Siddaramaiah stated. Highlighting the achievements of the Congress government in the past eight months, Siddaramaiah said, In the last eight months, we have implemented all our promises. We assumed power on May 20. Many requests were made to us during the assembly poll campaign to increase the quantity of rice given, which the government under Yediyurappa had reduced from 7 kg to 5 kg. As promised, we increased it. We continue to uphold our Congress guarantees. BJP leaders are making a fuss, demanding that the Congress guarantees should be stopped, he added. Siddaramaiah also criticized the BJP for allegedly claiming they would change the Constitution if voted back to power in the Centre. BJP leaders are saying that if they (BJP) come to power, they will change the Constitution. They will change the Constitution if the BJP gets 400 seats in this Lok Sabha election. Mohan Bhagwat also asked to be patient, saying they will change the Constitution. The BJP party has no respect for the Constitution. We can call this Lok Sabha election the second independence, he said. Siddaramaiah further criticized Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman over the GST compensation issue with the state. Nirmala Sitharaman made false statements, claiming that we desperately went to the Supreme Court. When the Supreme Court criticized them, they announced a compensation of over 3600 crores. I request the voters of Karnataka to take this opportunity to show them their way. Nirmala Sitharaman hasn't given anything to Karnataka in the last 10 years and is trying to divide society based on caste and religion. Vote for change and ensure that the people of Karnataka vote for us, he said. In the 2019 Lok Sabha elections, the BJP almost swept the state, winning 25 out of 28 seats, while Congress and JD(S) could only win one seat each. This time, BJP and JD-S are in coalition, with the former contesting on 25 seats and the latter on three seats. IPL 2024: 'They Are Off The Ventilator But Still In ICU', Ajay Jadeja Reflects On RCB's Comeback

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: As the Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) picked up their fourth win of the IPL 2024 after beating Gujarat Titans (GT), former India cricketer Ajay Jadeja, praising RCB's comeback in the business end of the tournament, said Faf du Plessis-led side are off the ventilator but still in ICU. Riding on a superb show by their fast bowlers and a scintillating 64 from skipper Du Plessis, RCB kept their playoff hopes alive with a four-wicket win at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium. Saturday's win also lifted RCB off the bottom of the table to number seven. After Yash Dayal, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets each to bowl out GT for a below-par 147. A dominant start by the RCB openers, skipper du Plessis and Virat Kohli, set the platform for a win. Although there were a few nerves during the run-chase, RCB were comfortable as they chased the target down with 6.2 overs to spare. Jadeja praised the overall performance from RCB with significant contributions from Kohli (42), Du Plessis (64 ), Siraj (2/29), and Dayal (2/21) and said the win reflects that RCB picked the right road in the tournament. We are excited about today's match after seeing Virat and Faf bat. But the real work that was done, was by the bowlers, an aspect RCB has historically struggled at. The bowling department has started to click for them now, and we're talking about the business end of the season, this is the point where realistic chances of winning comes from momentum... More than momentum, it's about the mentality of the team where you know if you're in a bad situation, someone will take you out of it... Today(Saturday), it seemed like RCB picked the right road while Gujarat was on the other side. Who will reach their goal? It's a very tough ask still. The chinks in the armour are visible, what happened at the end. But the chance is there. They're off the ventilator but they're still in the ICU, said Jadeja on Jio Cinema. Discussing RCB's batting strategy, the former cricketer remarked that he had never witnessed RCB commence a match with not one but two sixes in the first over. Today was outstanding... They came into the game differently from the start. I haven't checked the statistics, but I have never seen them start a game with a six. Not one, but two of them, in the first over, when there was no need. What Faf did, he was operating at a different pace. Later, there was some excitement in the match but at no point did it seem like this was (GT win) going to be successful, he said. RCB now travels to Dharamshala to lock horns with Punjab Kings on May 9 at HPCA Stadium.

Young and old proxy players in legacy battles

Of all the 80 Lok Sabha seats of Uttar Pradesh, two, Kaiserganj and Amethi, have a certain kind of invidiousness which the rest of the state detests or delights depending on the degree of a patronising attention-seeker. On the edge of some wildlife sanctuaries of repute, Kaiserganj offers a truly wild side to its political existence: No one remembers when it turned into Brij Bhushan Sharan Singhs saffron chevron from Samjawadi stalwart Beni Prasad Vermas socialist stripes. So much so that the former Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) chief has now grappled his way successfully to let his 33-year-old son rule Kaiserganj by getting him BJP nomination. Move over to redoubtable Amethi. The amazing fiefdom of Congress first family. Kishori Lal Sharma, who? The 63-year-old loyalist is originally from Punjabs Ludhiana and has been with the family for 40-odd years to challenge the aggression and vanity of the sitting BJP MP. Sharma, sources say, is excellent in his management skills, and has been representing Sonia Gandhi first in Amethi and then in Rae Bareli. Curiously, Kaiserganj and Amethi are now melded in a battle of legacies on the one hand young Karan Bhushan Sharan Singh is out to retain his fathers seat, and on the other an experienced caregiver is brought to re-assert the power of the Gandhis. Brij Bhushan, despite being snubbed by the party following his deeds as WFI chairman, has a tinge of condescension in his voice while claiming that Karans ticket was apparent, owing to the clout he enjoys; it is Gods gift to him and his clan. Karan is not the only inheritor of political legacy of Brijbhushan, who has been a six-time MP from Kaiserganj, Balrampur and Gonda. His elder son Prateek Bhushan is BJP MLA from Gonda. However, the younger scion has an added attribute inherited from father. Besides managing his fathers political affairs in Kaiserganj, he is also an amateur wrestler and is helming the UP Wrestling Federation since February this year. A law graduate, he has an Australian diploma in business management. An ace shooter of national repute, Karan is the chairman of a cooperative bank at Nawabganj in Gonda. A father of two children, he has no criminal history, with wife Neha managing the educational institutions owned by the family. In Amethi, Sharma is humbled by the party gesture. He is believed to be well aware of the political temperament of Amethi and Rae Bareli. He had his association with the twin Gandhi bastions since 1983 when late Rajiv Gandhi took him along to Amethi after the death of Sanjay Gandhi, as part of Rajivs initiative to set up a youth brigade to monitor development works in his constituency. Rajiv won from Amethi four times 1981, 1984, 1989 and posthumously in 1991. Sharma managed all his elections since 1984. Sharmas ties with the Gandhis grew stronger after Rajiv passed away. He continued to nurture Rae Bareli and Amethi on their behalf besides managing elections of the likes of Sheila Kaul and Captain Satish Sharma. Beyond Rae Bareli and Amethi, Sharma was once appointed the partys Bihar in-charge. He has been in the All India Congress Committee and Punjab Congress Committee. It is after 25 years that no Gandhi is in the fray from Amethi. The reason for Sharma replacing Rahul Gandhi in Amethi seems to be an in-house survey of the Congress indicating smooth sailing for Rahul in Rae Bareli and only 50 per cent chances of victory in Amethi. Sharma was blamed largely for the 2019 Amethi loss, but Sonia and Priyanka came to his rescue. Holding the party baton, the only task of KL Sharma is conducting poll rallies by the Gandhis he has been promised three as he believes that their presence would make all the difference for him in Amethi.

IPL 2024: Was Sick, Wasnt Going To Play At All, Reveals Mohammed Siraj After Brilliant Spell V GT

Indian Premier League: Fridays rain ahead of the Royal Challengers Bengaluru-Gujarat Titans clash meant that fast-bowlers could get some help in Saturday's clash at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium here. It happened exactly like that as Mohammed Siraj, Vysakh Vijaykumar and Yash Dayal were spot-on with their lengths and found movement to bowl out Gujarat Titans for just 147 in Match 52 of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024. Siraj got the ball to move both ways in his Power-play and that helped him in dismissing Wriddhiman Saha for the fourth time in seven innings. He then forced Shubman Gill to whip and ended up being caught at deep point off a leading edge. He eventually finished with figures of 2-29, earning him Player of the Match award after RCBs four-wicket win. I was actually sick since last night and wasn't going to play at all today, so this is great. When I got up this morning I thought it was better to rest but the almighty made me play. I kind of manifested it this morning because I envisioned it in a way that I would get Saha out like that, caught behind. I had been playing red-ball cricket for long and hadn't played with the white ball since the ODI World Cup. So my rhythm was missing a little bit when I came here. But it came back gradually as I worked and practised more and more, said Siraj after the match ended, where it seemed he was getting his white-ball mojo back, especially with the T20 World Cup starting immediately after IPL 2024. With the bat, Faf du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave RCB a blazing start with a 92-run opening stand off just 35 balls. Du Plessis, the RCB captain, was the more aggressive of the two, hitting 10 fours and three sixes in his 23-ball 64. Du Plessis felt the phase where RCB lost six wickets in quick succession is something to be taken note of while appreciating his bowling group for being consistent. There was more bounce in the wicket, we got that information and the bowlers were consistently really good. We dropped a catch but have been really consistent. Something around 180-90 would have been a good score, but we've seen the way the game has changed. Don't look at the scoreboard and play the way that we want to play. It was a bit nerve-racking, another wicket, another wicket. Probably not the best (way to complete a chase) but you're trying to be positive, get your NRR up. It makes sense from that point of view but it gets to the point when you need to show a bit of calmness and composure - probably around four down, so some lessons to be learned from that. It took Dinesh Karthiks 21 not out and Swapnil Singhs unbeaten 15 to get RCB over the line in 13.4 overs and help them jump to seventh place in the points table. Karthik was having tea and drank cappuccino after four overs, with the thought being his batting chance wouldnt come, but he had to come in to save the day. But things happened and then I had to have a bat. How to hit boundaries, basic cricketing skills come through. I backed myself to get the job done. The pitch was good to bowl on, having been under the covers there was a bit of moisture, said Karthik. Good toss to win but the bowlers did the job beautifully. The way Faf and Virat batted, I don't think they would have played the same shots batting first! Play for the one that comes in (on advice to Swapnil). Said the sweep is a good option, but commit to it, he added. RCBs win also meant GT slid to ninth place, while Mumbai Indians became the new occupants of tenth position in the points table. GT captain Shubman Gill admitted his batters should have posted 170-180 on board, with their playoff hopes now hanging by a slim thread. It depends on the wicket. First couple of overs you get a good idea and play according to that. I think 170-80 on this wicket would have been a good total. How we batted in the Power-play, and how they bowled, decided the game. We would have had one extra bowler but losing three wickets in the powerplay (changed planning). Very important to start from zero in our next match and move on from this game. Learn from mistakes and not repeat them. All about winning from here on, said Gill. RCB will now travel to Dharamsala, where they will take on Punjab Kings on May 9 at the HPCA Stadium while GT will return home to Ahmedabad and rest before preparing to host defending champions Chennai Super Kings on May 10 at the Narendra Modi Stadium.

Delhi Congress Files Complaint Against BJP for Misinformation Campaign

Delhi Congress Files Complaint Against BJP for Misinformation Campaign The Congress' interim Delhi chief Devender Yadav on Saturday lodged a police complaint against the BJP for allegedly spreading ''fake and distorted'' news against the party on social media. In his complaint, filed at Tughlak Road police station, Yadav mentioned that repeated publication and circulation of videographic content, which is either ''false, malicious or simply intended to mislead the voters'' during the Lok Sabha elections, is intended to mislead the people, the party said in a statement. These malicious videos are all available in the public domain. These videos have been ''distorted, doctored or edited'' to mislead the public and the voters and also to create ''enmity and hatred'' between communities as the excerpts contain misleading and false content, it stated. Praveen Shankar Kapoor, the BJP's Delhi unit spokesperson, said Yadav is free to complain if he is aggrieved. Yadav is also the AICC's Punjab in-charge and the people of Delhi and Punjab expect him to hold a press conference. He should tell Delhiites what he feels about AAP's government in Punjab and tell the people of Punjab his feelings about the Delhi government, Kapoor said. According to a senior police officer from the New Delhi district, the complaint has been received and will be looked into. On the Congress' allegation that Yadav and his legal team were kept waiting for two hours before their complaint was accepted, the police said the complainants were sitting at the police station. Kin Provide Statements to CID in Investigation of Firing Incident near Salman Khan's Residence

Kin Provide Statements to CID in Investigation of Firing Incident near Salman Khan's Residence The state Crime Investigation Department (CID) on Saturday recorded the statement of three family members of Anuj Thapan, an accused in the firing incident outside actor Salman Khans house, who died allegedly by suicide in police custody, an official said. The CID recorded the statements of Thapan's relatives Vikram Kumar, Kuldeep Kumar and Jaswant Singh, the official said. The family members claimed the body, which will be taken to Punjab for last rites, he said. Thapan (32), who was arrested from Punjab for allegedly supplying firearms and bullets to the arrested shooters, was found hanging on Wednesday inside the toilet of the Mumbai Crime Branchs lock-up located in the commissionerate complex. The state-run JJ Hospital on Thursday conducted the post-mortem in the presence of forensic doctors. Thapan is among six persons named in FIR of the firing incident. IPL 2024: We Will Stick To Winning Combination For CSK Clash, Says PBKS Spin Bowling Coach Sunil Joshi

Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium: Experts have always opined not to change a winning combination and Punjab Kings will follow the wisdom handed down the ages when they take on defending champions Chennai Super Kings in Match 53 of Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium here on Sunday afternoon. On an upswing after two wins on the trot, Punjab Kings will face the five-time champions CSK for the second time within a few days as they attempt to move up from the seventh position they currently occupy in the standings and get into a position to challenge for a place in the Playoffs. Sunday's match is their first game at the Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamsala this season and PBKS spin bowling coach Sunil Joshi explained why his side enjoys travelling to Dharamsala for the IPL games. The ground in Dharamsala is one of the best grounds in the cricket world because of the location and the surface we get to play here. It's a fantastic ground, Joshi said at the pre-match press conference on Saturday. Punjab defeated Kolkata Knight Riders, chasing down the world T20 record total of 262 last week. Earlier this week, PBKS picked a big win over the Chennai Super Kings, chasing 163 with 7 wickets in hand and 13 balls to spare. Entering the contest with a positive mindset and on the back of two solid victories, Joshi said that his side will stick with the same playing combination. No, we do not think we will be making any changes. Because we want to keep up the winning squad, he said. The former Indian left-arm spinner further gave an update on skipper Shikhar Dhawan's injury status and also praised Sam Curran for taking over the leadership role effectively in Dhawan's absence. Dhawan's rehabilitation is on track. He is doing well. He is not available for the next game. Hopefully, he will be back for the final two games, Joshi said. Shikhar was also injured last year. He was playing well but Sam had to come up as captain because of his injury. Sam has come up as a leader yet again and he has stepped up with the team, he added. The tournament has reached a stage where all the teams are fighting to grab the top four spots and confirm a spot in the playoffs. Joshi insisted his side is focused on getting the right results and is not too focused on the points table calculations. The team conversations that we have had, our approach is to put in the best effort and to play to win the game. The table calculations will come on their own. We do not see that part very closely. What we look at is what are the areas we can do better, what we have not done over the past few games, what best we can do and how we can improve as a team. That is the conversation we have with the players, he said. Our plan of action is to keep winning. The challenge is always with the bat and ball. It's a good surface. I keep telling players to hold their horses and execute their skill, he signed off.
