Only Cong Can Ensure All-Round Progress: Ranjith

Hyderabad: Chevella Congress candidate Dr G. Ranjith Reddy on Sunday said that the BJP and BRS candidates were making false promises only to divert the attention of voters. The Congress, which introduced and implemented welfare schemes in Telangana state, would also introduce similar welfare schemes on a national scale after it comes to power at the Centre, he said. Ranjith Reddy participated in an election campaign at Nagaram, Amir Pate, Kolla Padakal, and Maheshwaram villages in Maheshwaram mandal. Later, 400 activists of the BRS and the BJP joined the Congress party in his presence in Nagaram village. Speaking on the occasion, Ranjith Reddy said that the Congress would give importance to the constituencys development and welfare schemes. He said that a vote for the BJP meant that it was goodbye to reservations. People are not in a position to trust the BRS. We will waive loans of farmers of up to Rs 2 lakh by August 15, while the welfare of all sections remains our partys priority. Around 3,500 houses will be built for the homeless in each constituency every year, Reddy said. JDP chairperson Thigala Anita Harinath Reddy and local leaders Nerella Sharada and K. Laxma Reddy participated in the programme.

KCR May Form a Liquor Front in Delhi, says Kishan Reddy

Hyderabad: The Revanth Reddy government would fall if the BJP won a majority Lok Sabha seats, TS BJP president G. Kishan Reddy said, but his party was not interested in it as the leadership was clear that it should focus on strengthening itself in the state. It may be the agenda of Congress dissidents to dethrone the Revanth government or that of the BRS. We want the Revanth government to continue, he said at a meet-the-press programme organised by the Telangana Union of Working Journalists. He said the BRS had become irrelevant and would not win a single seat. He called BRS president K. Chandrashekar Rao's statement of a coalition government at the Centre a day-dream. KCR can play a Liquor and Brandy Morcha or Front in Delhi, he said. On the comments by BRS leader K.T. Rama Rao that Hyderabad would be made a Union Territory if the BJP won a third term, Kishan Reddy said the nightmares of BRS leaders had increased after they lost power. The issue is not being discussed or debated anywhere, he said. Listing the achievements of the Modi government, Kishan Reddy said that he is finding the most favourable atmosphere for the party. A tsunami kind of under-current is sweeping even in rural areas and it would reflect on the counting day on June 4, he said. He challenged Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy for a debate on financial assistance from the Centre in the last 10 years to the state. The people are laughing at Revanth for his comment that the Centre had given `gadida guddu (donkeys egg) when the Centre has given `9.5 lakh crore to the state, he said.

Declared willful defaulter, petitioner challenges SBIs decision

Hyderabad: Justice S. Nanda of the Telangana High Court allowed a writ petition filed by Ritesh Kumar and others challenging the action of the SBI in declaring them wilful defaulters. The petitioners, promoters of Rajvir Industries, said the SBI had moved an application for an insolvency resolution process against the company. The bank also issued a showcause notice citing the petitioner as a wilful defaulter as determined by an identification committee. The petitioner sought a copy of the forensic audit report, which was refused as being confidential. It was the case of the petitioner that being declared wilful defaulter was a matter of serious civic consequence and the procedure followed by the bank was in utter violation of the petitioners fundamental rights. It was further the case of the petitioners that they did not receive any order issued by the wilful defaulter review committee, which did not apply its mind independently. Referring to the verdict of the Supreme Court in a similar matter, Justice Nanda echoed the observations of the apex court which had said declaration of account as fraud observed that principles of natural justice demand that the borrowers must be served a notice given an opportunity to explain the findings in the forensic audit report (FAR) before the account is declared as fraud. This indicates that the forensic audit report must be necessarily supplied to the borrower prior to declaring an account as fraud. This court in principle opines that the same principles of natural justice need to be necessarily followed prior to declaring the petitioners as defaulters or willful defaulters and the petitioners should be furnished with a copy of the FAR. BH liquor shop under HC scrutiny The alleged illegal construction of Tales over Spirits, an uptown liquor outlet, came up for scrutiny before the Telangana High Court. Hearing a writ petition field by Konda Chandrashekar, a businessman from Pragatinagar, Justice T. Vinod Kumar directed the GHMC to consider the grievance of the petitioner and act in accordance with law. The petitioner was aggrieved by the civic authorities winking at the alleged unauthorised constructions raised by Tales over Spirit on Road No. 3 Banjara Hills without securing building permission. It was also contended that the construction was in violation of the Telangana Municipalities Act and the TS-bPASS Act. It also violated the petitioner's connotational right to property, it is alleged. HC focus on schools in residential area Justice C.V. Bhaskar Reddy of the Telangana High Court required the state authorities to examine the charge that residential plots were converted into a commercial space at Alwal. The judge passed the interim order while dealing with a writ plea filed by Sri Siddi Vinayaka Nagar Residents Welfare Association complaining that respondents were proceeding to construct a school in the area. It is said that Mitta Ramakrishna, president of Isha Educational Society, Raju Sangani, the founder and chairman of Masterminds School and Mannava Venkata Sharat Chandra were proceeding with the construction without a feasibility report or permission.

Majority of Indians Want Modi Back As PM: Etala

Hyderabad: Etala Rajendar, the BJP candidate for the Malkajgiri Lok Sabha seat, said that Indian students, who were brought back from war zones of Ukraine, family members of soldiers stationed at Siachen glacier, ISRO scientists who were extended complete support on their projects like Chandrayaan, and daughters of four crore families for whose benefit 12 crore toilets were built in the last 10 years, will aver why India must vote for Narendra Modi and the BJP in the Lok Sabha elections. Addressing members of a residential welfare association in Safilguda, Rajendar recalled that Modi had responded to SOS messages from Indian students trapped in war zones of Ukraine and brought them back to India safely after urging the presidents of Russia and Ukraine to go for a ceasefire till all Indian students were rescued. Stating that Modi was working towards making India a Vishwa Guru, Rajendar said that Pakistan was forced to return Abhinandan within 24 hours following the ultimatum given by the Indian government.

Pubs Hiring Women to Entice Customers With Sexual Overtones

Hyderabad: Some pubs in the city have been adopting devious means to increase their collections. They are hiring women who entice male customers with obscene gestures and sexual overtones. These establishments tap women who are unemployed and those staying in hostels. On being recruited, they are trained by the management on methods to trap customers like performing obscene dances or consuming liquor with the customer in order to maximise their bills, police sources said. In this connection, a west zone task force team with Banjara Hills police raided After 9 Pub in the limits of Banjara Hills police station late on Saturday night and arrested over 171 persons, including two managers, a DJ operator, five bouncers, and 32 women who were enticing customers with indecent performances at the behest of the management, said S. Rashmi Perumal, DCP (task force) in a press release here on Sunday. The management of the bar sexually objectified women, which is immoral and unethical, she said. Satish, the owner of After 9 Pub, is reportedly in Visakhapatnam and he has been served a notice. Recently, a north zone task force team raided Urvasi Bar and Restaurant at Begumpet, where women were engaged for similar purposes. Police sources disclosed that the excise and prohibition wing and GHMC have been urged to cancel licences of establishments found using women in an immoral way to boost their revenues and profits. Rashmi cautioned the management of pubs and bars in the twin cities to ensure that their premises are run legally. We will be conducting surprise raids on pubs and taking appropriate action. We will depute our teams in plain dress and keep a tab on the activities of pub managements, inspector Raghavendra said.

People in SCB Area Trust Me, Says Sri Ganesh

Hyderabad: Sri Ganesh, Congress candidate for the Secunderabad Cantonment Assembly bypoll, said that two elevated corridor projects that were pending for years under the BRS regime were started within 100 days of the Congress coming to power in the state, with Chief Minister Revanth Reddy resolving land acquisition issues to ensure seamless connectivity from Secunderabad to northern Telangana. In an interview with Deccan Chronicle . Sri Ganesh said he had empathy towards the family of former Cantonment MLA Lasya Nanditha, who died in a road accident, but emotions alone would not develop a constituency. Taking on BRS candidate G. Niveditha, sister of Nanditha, he said that BRS members had protested when she was declared as the candidate. Excerpts: Q. How do you rate the 100 days of Congress administration? Apart from implementing the guarantees promised during the Assembly elections, the Congress government under the leadership of Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has brought two new elevated corridors to improve the connectivity between Secunderabad and northern Telangana. While the BRS failed to do it for years, this government did it within 100 days of coming to power. Q. Five-time MLA G. Sayanna died last year, and his daughter G. Lasya Nanditha died in a road mishap this year. How will these deaths impact the bypoll? I have empathy towards the Sayanna family for their loss, but emotion will not develop a constituency. When Niveditha was declared as the BRS candidate, her own party members protested against the decision. The Sayanna family has been representing Secunderabad Cantonment in the Assembly for several years. But this area does not have basic amenities like a good education health infrastructure and water supply. While the rest of the city pays 7.5 per cent stamp duty for property registration, people in Secunderabad Cantonment pay 11 per cent. Obtaining a building permit is a strenuous task. To date, 40 per cent of people dont have pattas and the residents pay more property tax compared to others. Is this what the Sayanna family achieved after holding the post of MLA for so many years? 3. You have joined the Congress from the BJP ahead of the polls. How is your rapport with the cadre? Revolutionary balladeer Gaddars daughter G.V. Vennela is the Congress incharge for the Secunderabad Cantonment constituency. She is extending her full support. The Congress cadre is working for my victory and also for the victory of the (Malkajgiri) Lok Sabha candidate Patnam Sunitha Mahender Reddy. Q. The closure of roads by the Local Military Authority (LMA) has always been a poll issue. How will you address it? The acquisition of defence land, which seemed to be an impossible task, was completed within 100 days by Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy. The issues related to road closure will be resolved. Q. What impact will the Lok Sabha election have on your prospects in the bypoll? People across the country are with the Congress. So the Lok Sabha polls will benefit me. People in Secunderabad Cantonment have seen the work I did for this constituency. I provided education to the poor, health camps, and civic works with my money. I am far ahead in the battle compared to the BRS and the BJP, and more accessible to people compared to the other contestants. Q. The SCB-GHMC merger is also a poll issue. Revanth Reddy is keen on the merger of the Secunderabad Cantonment area with GHMC. As soon as I get elected I will speed up the process.

Hyderabad: BJP candidate for the Chevella Lok Sabha seat Konda Vishweshwar Reddy said that the people of the state have endured myriad hardships during the ten years of K. Chandrasekhar Rao's familys misrule. The Congress came to power with unviable promises and now the people have seen through those empty promises, Vishweshwar Reddy said while addressing a rally at Rajendranagar. Reddy said, The Congress has no moral right to question Prime Minister Narendra Modi's contributions to nation-building. During the Congress rule, the city saw bomb blasts like many other cities. Not a single such incident occurred during Modis rule. Like an ever-vigilant soldier, Modi has safeguarded the nation with unwavering dedication. He is ensuring that the poor have enough to eat, he said. His wife, Sangita Reddy addressing residents of gated communities in Narsingi, said that Modi had achieved much more than what his predecessors had accomplished since independence. His vision, policies, and unwavering commitment have propelled India to make rapid strides across all sectors, she said.

Poll Season Sees Uptick in Wildlife Poaching Attempts

Hyderabad: Its not just leaders of political parties who are being poached by their rival parties. Even the wildlife in Telangana, if the goings on in the states forests are any indication, are being poached by hunters who are having a somewhat free run as a result of some of the forest department staff being deployed for election duties. In the latest such incident, three would-be poachers were nabbed during a hunt in the Madhira forest range in Khammam district on the night of May 3. The forest officials confiscated a single-barrel country-made rifle nine live cartridges and two spent cartridges from their possession. This was the third in a series of arrests of poachers in the district since the first week of April. In the first incident, two persons from Hyderabad and one from Andhra Pradesh were caught in the Talleda forest range. That hunt was arranged by a local mediator. On April 29, two were arrested after they killed a sambar deer in the Madhira forest range, and efforts are on to nab them with the help of AP police who bought the meat from the poachers. According to Siddharth Vikram Singh, district forest officer for Khammam, two of the three arrested on May 3 night were from AP and the third was a local person who facilitated the attempted hunt. They had taken two shots at some deer near a water hole but missed. Some of our staff who noticed torchlight beams along an incline in the forest went to investigate. Taking great risk in the face of two armed people, forest beat officer Nageshwar Rao and forest section officer U. Suresh, overpowered and arrested them, Vikram Singh said. The arrested were identified as Anumolu Srinivasa Rao, Poola Krishna Rao from NTR district of AP, and Parisee Mareswara Rao from G. Goparam village in Khammam district. According to some department officials, such increased poaching activity usually occurs during large festivals when forest staff is also deployed for bandobast duties but this was the first time that this was being noticed during elections. While in some districts, the deployment of forest staff for poll duties is around 10 per cent of the staff, in some cases, it is up to 60 to 70 per cent, forest officials said. Poaching is easier in summers as most water sources dry up and animals begin congregating near the few sources that still can provide water for drinking. And we are stepping up our vigil at all water bodies in the forest, the official added.

Vote for Congress for Overall Development of Kazipet: Kadiam Kavya

Warangal: BJP was creating rift among the people in the name of communal politics, and the saffron party has no right to seek votes from the people as it has done nothing for the Warangal, said Congress party MP candidate from Warangal seat, Dr. Kadiam Kavya, who was addressing an election meeting along with Warangal West MLA, Naini Rajendar Reddy, organized at Kazipet in Hanamkonda on Sunday. Furthermore, Kavya alleged that the Lok Sabha election for the Warangal parliamentary constituency will be fought between the Congress partys efforts to save the Constitution and the BJPs divisive politics. Both the BRS and BJP showed discrimination towards Kazipet and did nothing for its development. If the Congress becomes victorious from the Warangal parliamentary seat, then steps would be taken for the establishment of a special bus-stand in Kazipet as well as completion of the Fathimanagar flyover as early as possible, she said. Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy has been giving special attention towards the development of tri-cities Warangal, Hanamkonda and Kazipet, on the lines of twin cities of Hyderabad and Secunderabad. IPL 2024: Bottom-dweller Mumbai Indians Play To Revive Campaign, Restore Pride Against SRH

Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium: Plumbing the depths of the points table in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, the only direction Mumbai Indians can now go is climb up the standings when they take on Sunrisers Hyderabad in Match 55 at the Wankhede Stadium here on Monday. Considering the way their campaign has unfolded so far, getting things their way seems as good as impossible for Hardik Pandya's side as they have suffered defeats in eight of the 11 matches they have played so far this season. They have failed to stitch together a complete performance in most of their matches, losing games after excelling in one department of the match. Like in their clash with Kolkata Knight Riders at the Wankhede Stadium on Friday (May 3) when they bundled out the visitors for 169 as their bowlers used the double-paced wicket to their advantage to restrict them. Jasprit Bumrah and Nuwan Thushara claimed three wickets apiece while Hardik Pandya bagged 2-44. With Thushara striking three early blows, KKR were reduced to 57/5 but Mumbai Indians allowed them to recover from there, bringing in spinners Naman Dhir and Piyush Chawla instead of pressing on with the pacers. Venkatesh Iyer scored a valiant 52-ball 70 and shared an 83-run partnership with Manish Pandey (42) as they rescued Kolkata Knight Riders. Chasing 170, Mumbai Indians lost the plot as batters like Ishan Kishan, Rohit Sharma, Tilak Varma, Naman Dhir, and Nehal Wadhera got out cheaply. Suryakumar Yadav waged a lone battle, scoring 56 off 35 balls, and hitting a flurry of shots as he tried to lift them from a precarious 71/6. His wicket and the one of Tim David triggered another collapse as Andre Russell and Mitchell Starc shared five wickets between them to hasten the demise of their hopes. Starc claimed three wickets in the 19th over for a final haul of 4-33 as KKR won by 24 runs for their first victory at the Wankhede Stadium in 12 years. Agreed that the wicket was two-paced but it was also true that some of the MI batters were out to full tosses. With six points from 11 matches, Mumbai Indians will hope to win their remaining three matches and salvage their pride even if other results do not go in their favour and help them make it to the Playoffs. Mumbai Indians are going into the match with four successive defeats and considering their up-and-down form, Hardik Pandya's team will have to pull up their socks to restore some pride. Meanwhile, their opponents for Monday's clash, Sunrisers Hyderabad have everything to play for as they are placed fourth in the standings and still in the running for the playoffs spots. SRH have 12 points from six wins in 10 matches and are placed fourth in the points table, clubbed together with Lucknow Super Giants behind Rajasthan Royals (16) and Kolkata Knight Riders (14). SRH need to win their remaining four matches as the race for the playoffs spots is going to be neck-and-neck. The good thing for them is that they have recovered after two successive defeats against Southern rivals Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bengaluru. They travel to Mumbai after a victory over table-toppers Rajasthan Royals. After four successive wins starting with a six-wicket win over defending champions Chennai Super Kings at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad. Under the leadership of Pat Cummins, SRH have done well so far in the league with openers Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma in great form and the likes of Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen and Aiden Markram complimenting their efforts with superb batting when needed. Reddy has been their find of the season and had struck a 42-ball unbeaten 76 in their last match while Travis Head blasted 58 off 44 balls while Klaasen smashed a 19-ball 42. For them, Travis Head (396), Klaasen (337) and Abhishek Sharma (315) were their top scorers. T. Natarajan and Pat Cummins are their most successful bowlers so far with 15 and 12 respectively. Bhuvneshwar and Jaydev Undakat have claimed eight wickets apiece. Going by the last match played there, the pitch is likely to offer some assistance to the bowlers and considering their strength in this department, the force would be with SRH in Monday's clash. Overall, Mumbai Indians have dominated the head-to-head series, winning 12 out of the 21 matches played between them while SRH have won nine. SRH had defeated Mumbai Indians by 31 runs in a high-scoring clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on March 27, scoring 277/3 batting first with Klaasen hammering an unbeaten 80 while Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma scoring 62 and 63 respectively. They then restricted MI to 246/5 with Tilak Varma anchoring the innings with 64. Squads: Mumbai Indians: Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Piyush Chawla, Luke Wood, Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, Dewald Brevis, Kumar Kartikeya, Shreyas Gopal, Harvik Desai, Gerald Coetzee, Romario Shepherd, Arjun Tendulkar, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka Sunrisers Hyderabad: Travis Head, Abhishek Sharma, Aiden Markram, Heinrich Klaasen(w), Nitish Reddy, Abdul Samad, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins(c), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, T Natarajan, Anmolpreet Singh, Washington Sundar, Glenn Phillips, Umran Malik, Mayank Markande, Rahul Tripathi, Mayank Agarwal, Upendra Yadav, Jhatavedh Subramanyan, Sanvir Singh, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Akash Maharaj Singh. Hyderabad: Drugs Available Aplenty on Social Media Platforms

nstances of drug peddling and seizing of drugs have multiplied in 2023 in Cyberabad jurisdiction, which has the maximum number of pubs from among the three commissionerates. (DC) nstances of drug peddling and seizing of drugs have multiplied in 2023 in Cyberabad jurisdiction, which has the maximum number of pubs from among the three commissionerates. (DC) Hyderabad: Illegal drug sales on social media platforms like Facebook and X are on the rise. Drugs like cannabis, LSD, xanax and oxycodone are being sold openly on social media, often with enticing offers like same-day delivery and discounts. An X account offers narcotics like blotting LSD paper, cannabis, xanax, magic mushrooms, THC vapes and percocet pills. To make matters worse, images of the drugs are posted alongside with account handler offering tempting same day delivery of the contraband. Another team sells drugs like cannabis on its Facebook group, which has 3,200 followers. Even platforms like Reddit have subreddits sell drugs although Reddit keeps removing the subreddits and bans the accounts. The flourishing online drug trade has serious consequences. Not only does it push for substance abuse and addiction, it also normalises drug use. Previously, drugs were sold on darknet websites like Silk Road, AlphaBay and Utopia, but these were banned by the government and FBI traced and caught the market runners. But now, as social media platforms ease up their content moderation rules, drug dealers are starting to bring their products into the mainstream social media. Both police and social media platforms are increasing efforts to combat this illicit trade, with social media platforms implementing stricter policies and police tracking down the account holders. A cybercrime official said dealers who used to sell drugs to a limited number of people before, now have an entire social media platforms audience to interact with. We are constantly trying to trace the accounts and catch hold of them.

CSK Pacer Matheesha Pathirana Sidelined with Hamstring Injury, Returns to Sri Lanka

CSK Pacer Matheesha Pathirana Sidelined with Hamstring Injury, Returns to Sri Lanka Chennai Super Kings' Matheesha Pathirana's outing in the ongoing IPL is all but over as the pacer will return to Sri Lanka to recover from a hamstring injury. The right-arm slinger played six matches in this IPL, picking up 13 wickets at an economy of 7.68. ''Chennai Super Kings wishes Pathirana a quick recovery,'' the CSK stated in a media release on Sunday. Pathirana last played for CSK during their 78-run win over Sunrisers Hyderabad, where he bowled two overs and picked up the wickets of Aiden Markram and Heinrich Klaasen. Pathirana missed the match against Punjab Kings at Chennai on May 1 with England pacer Richard Gleeson replacing him. The unavailability of Pathirana is a big setback to CSK as their bowling stocks have dwindled drastically in the last few days. Pace bowling all-rounder Deepak Chahar too is set to miss the remainder of the IPL with a niggle he sustained during the match against Punjab at Chepauk. Chahar walked off the field after bowling just two balls and Shardul Thakuar had completed the over for him. ''Deepak Chahar doesn't look good. The initial feeling wasn't great. So, I'm hoping for a more positive report when the physio and the doctor have a look,'' CSK coach Stephen Fleming had said after that match. CSK will also be without Sri Lankan spinner Maheesh Theekshana at least for a couple of more matches as he is expected to fly back to Sri Lanka to complete his USA visa process ahead of next month's T20 World Cup in the Americas. Bangladesh pacer Mustafizur Rahman's IPL stint too came to an end in the previous match against PBKS after he has joined the national team for the home T20I series against Zimbabwe.

IPL: SRH eye consistency in must-win clash against frail MI

Mumbai: A confident Sunrisers Hyderabad will look to produce a dominant show against a frail Mumbai Indians outfit and move up in the Indian Premier League points table when the two teams clash here on Monday. Placed fourth in the IPL points table with 12 points in 10 matches with six wins and four losses, SRH will be desperate to produce an all-round show and make improvements especially in their bowling department. The Pat Cummins-led side is in the midst of an intense battle between multiple teams who are bidding for spots in the final four, with Rajasthan Royals (16 points), Kolkata Knight Riders (14 points) and Lucknow Super Giants (12 points) placed above SRH. Chennai Super Kings (5th with 10 points) and a resurgent Delhi Capitals (6th with 10 points) are breathing down SRH's neck, a scenario that would force the 2016 winners to shrug off any rust and get ready for an intense mid-table battle. If a two-paced pitch at the Wankhede Stadium for the previous clash against KKR was an aberration, the free-flowing SRH batters would look to make merry and pile up a huge score as they have done several times this year. The pitches here generally are batting-friendly and short boundary lengths at this venue make scores in excess of 200 a norm, but the MI-KKR contest played out on a sluggish surface last Friday challenged the batters to dig deep. SRH would be high on confidence having pipped the table-toppers RR by just one run in their previous outing, a game in which their bowlers pulled off a thrilling win. Travis Head (396 runs), Abhishek Sharma (315) and Heinrich Klaasen (337) remain the enforcers in SRH's batting but South African Aiden Markram would be keen to make a big score of his own, having had a mixed run so far. Nitish Kumar Reddy (219 runs) has emerged as one of the most promising players for SRH in last few games which takes a significant amount of pressure off the key batters. T Natarajan's (15 wickets) accuracy would be handy for SRH as the left-arm pacer is chasing Mumbai Indians' Jasprit Bumrah (17) for the purple cap. Five-time winners Mumbai slipped to the bottom of the pool again when Royal Challengers Bengaluru trumped Gujarat Titans on Saturday night. With only three wins in 11 matches, MI's challenge is all but over and there is only pride and name left to play for by their own admission. However, all is not lost as MI's key India players for the upcoming T20 World Cup, Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav and Hardik Pandya would remain in focus for their individual form. Rohit's all-out aggressive approach has not yielded many big scores whereas the world number 1 T20 batter Suryakumar would be eyeing consistency after a fine half-century against KKR a few nights ago. India vice-captain Pandya has being consistently on the receiving end due to his ordinary form with both bat and ball and also his on-field decisions as MI skipper. The all-rounder, however, would be keen to make amends and put an end to the criticism that he has been facing ever since this IPL edition got underway. Teams: Mumbai Indians: Hardik Pandya (c), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Dewald Brevis, Jasprit Bumrah, Piyush Chawla, Gerald Coetzee, Tim David, Shreyas Gopal, Ishan Kishan (wk), Anshul Kamboj, Kumar Kartikeya, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka, Mohammad Nabi, Shams Mulani, Naman Dhir, Shivalik Sharma, Romario Shepherd, Arjun Tendulkar, Nuwan Thushara, Tilak Varma, Harvik Desai (wk), Nehal Wadhera, Luke Wood. Sunrisers Hyderabad: Abhishek Sharma, Travis Head, Heinrich Klaasen (wk), Aiden Markram, Abdul Samad, Nitish Reddy, Shahbaz Ahmed, Pat Cummins (c), Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, T Natarajan, Mayank Markande, Umran Malik, Anmolpreet Singh, Glenn Phillips (wk), Rahul Tripathi, Washington Sundar, Upendra Yadav (wk), Jhathavedh Subramanyan, Sanvir Singh, Vijayakanth Viyaskanth, Fazalhaq Farooqi, Marco Jansen, Akash Maharaj Singh, Mayank Agarwal. Madhapur DCP Orders Inquiry into CI's Cable Bridge Birthday Celebrations

Hyderabad: Madhapur Inspector, Gaddam Mallesh, has found himself in hot water after allegedly violating regulations regarding the use of the Durgam Cheruvu cable bridge on Saturday. Previously, the Madhapur police had announced strict implementation of rules prohibiting birthday parties, selfies and gathering on the bridge due to safety concerns after an accident claimed a life of a young man and left others severely injured. However, it has come to light that CI Mallesh along with two others celebrated his birthday by cutting cake on the same cable bridge, violating the rules he made and has drawn criticism from the public, and media as well. In a statement issued a few months ago, CI Mallesh warned against parties, group gatherings, selfies, stating any violcation would amount to punishment under Section 188. Yet, his own participation in a birthday party on the bridge raises questions about his commitment to enforcing the regulations. Following the incident, Madhapur DCP Dr G. Vineeth said that they are conducting a thorough probe into the matter and a departmental inquiry is underway.

IPL 2024: 'I Can Feel The Confidence In The Team', Faf Wants RCB To Keep Momentum After Hat-trick Of Wins

Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Following Royal Challengers Bengaluru's (RCB) third consecutive victory in the 2024 IPL, skipper Faf du Plessis stressed on maintaining the hard-earned momentum team has established in the past two weeks. Following their triumph over Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) on April 25, RCB snapped their six-game losing streak. They continued their winning momentum with a victory against Gujarat Titans in Ahmedabad on April 28, followed by another win in the reverse fixture on Saturday. The run of three consecutive victories propelled them from the bottom of the table to the seventh position. Boys well done tonight, unbelievable performance. From my side I can feel the confidence in the group when we are out there in the field. I hope that belief is starting to filter through the group of how good a team we are when we are playing the style of cricket we want to play. So unbelievable effort on that, du Plessis said on RCB Dressing Room Chat. With the bat I know we were not at our best tonight at the last bit of it. That is a point we will talk about in the review. But make sure we celebrate this because we have worked hard three games on the bounce. We take the momentum with us, we take the confidence with us when we move to the next game, the skipper added. Yash Dayal, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets each in a superb bowling performance to bundle out GT for a below-par 147. RCBs response was aggressive and decisive to begin with, led by Du Plessis and Virat Kohli, as the visitors looked well on course to victory with 92 in the powerplay. Assistant coach Adam Griffith also complemented the players for putting together the best powerplay displays for RCB in both batting and bowling, among several other brilliant performances. From the bowling perspective tonight, 23 for 3, that is the best powerplay of the tournament. We only got hit for two boundaries in that time, so well done, execution was spot-on. We bowled to the conditions perfectly, coach Griffith said. We kept talking about the aggressiveness to take wickets and to bowl a team out is always tough in a T20 game, to take 10 wickets is exactly what we were after, so well done. The last four overs, we took 5-26. We finished beautifully. It was a team bowling effort and we all played our part as a group. And 92 for 1, that is the best (batting) powerplay RCB has ever had. And Faf, that is the second fastest 50 [off 18 balls] for RCB. In the field, our first direct-hit run-out of the tournament, it was a really important wicket [Shahrukh Khan] for us, so well done Virat, he added. Also getting praise from the assistant coach was Swapnil Singh, who began the game conceding just one run off the first over, and then hit the winning runs with an unbeaten 15 off 9. Special mention for Swappers, you got the broom out there at the end. Started the game for us, finished the game for us, well done, Griffith concluded.
