SC seeks response of Centre, EC on PIL for restoration of voting rights of undertrials

The Supreme Court is considering a plea to grant voting rights to undertrial prisoners. Nearly 4.5 lakh undertrial prisoners across India could potentially vote. A lawyer argued that the current ban violates constitutional rights. The court has asked the Centre and the Election Commission for their views.
