IPL 2024: RCB's crucial win over GT keeps campaign alive

CHENNAI: Captain Faf du Plessis hit a 23-ball 64 while Virat Kolhi cracked 27-ball 42 to keep Royal Challengers Bengaluru's slim playoff chances alive in the ongoing IPL. Chasing 148 for victory against Gujarat Titans at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, Faf was dealing in boundaries as RCB accumulated an impressive 92 runs in the powerplay. His 28-minute stay at the crease involved 10 fours and 3 sixes before he was dismissed by Josh Little, who later went on to finish with a four-wicket haul. Soon after the Faf's dismissal, things got complicated for the home side as they lost wickets in quick succession. The onus was on Kolhi to guide the team home but he was also dismissed for 42 by the 11th over. However, Dinesh Karthik displayed his experience to steady the ship along with Swapnil Singh, helping the team record a much-needed win with 38 balls to spare. The four-wicket victory, in the process, pushed RCB from bottom to seventh in the IPL standings. Earlier, Shahrukh Khan's 37 and David Miller's 30 had helped Gujarat to post 147 in 19.3 overs. Shahrukh's controlled aggression came in handy while Miller put the short handle to effective use and was harsh on Karn Sharma before eventually losing his wicket to the same bowler. Reeling at 19 for 3 after 5.3 overs, Shahrukh and Miller played the rescue act. After being asked to bat, Gujarat got off to a disastrous start as Wriddhiman Saha was sent back by Mohammed Siraj in the second over. The onus was on captain Shubman Gill and the in-form B Sai Sudharsan to take charge and help Gujarat get a good start. With the team lying at eighth spot going into the match, it was a must-win game for Gujarat as well. ''The talk is to win four in four. It's important to turn up and deliver our best. I feel our fielding has let us down. We have had a chat about it. We need to be a better team as a fielding unit. IPL is such a long tournament. It's important to turn up on the day. We have two changes, Manav Suthar makes his debut and Josh Little comes in,'' said Gill had said before the match. However, Gill (2 off 7 balls) didn't last long as he fell to Siraj. He got out while trying to whip a good-length delivery towards the on side. He closed the face of the bat too soon and found the top edge. The deep third fielder, Vyshak Vijaykumar, came in and claimed the catch. Vijaykumar later claimed two wickets. Soon, it became a nightmare situation for the visiting side as Sai Sudharsan was also dismissed soon. Cameron Green outfoxed Sai Sudharsan with a change of pace. That's when Shahrukh and Miller intervened. Later, Rahul Tewatia hit 21-ball 35 to help the team cross the 140-run mark. Brief scores: GT 147 in 19.3 ovs (Shahrukh 37, Tewatia 35; Siraj 2/29, Dayal 2/21, Vijaykumar 2/23) lost to RCB 152/6 in 13.4 ovs (Faf 64, Virat 42; Little 4/45).

IPL 2024: Royal Challengers Bangalore Beats Gujarat Titans

Bengaluru: Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) managed to survive a middle-over scare of quick wickets despite an explosive partnership between skipper Faf Du Plessis and Virat Kohli to record a four-wicket win against Gujarat Titans (GT) in their Indian Premier League (IPL) match on Saturday. RCB has jumped to the seventh place in the points table, with four wins and seven losses, giving them eight points. With the same win-loss record and points but an inferior net-run-rate, GT is in the ninth spot. In the run-chase of 148 runs, RCB was off to a fine start. Virat made his attacking intentions clear by smashing Mohit Sharma for two sixes over long-off and deep midwicket with his signature wrist work. In the next over bowled by Joshua Little, skipper Faf Du Plessis joined the party by taking him to the cleaners with two fours and six on the first three balls and ended the over with a boundary over midwicket, looting 20 runs from the over. Du Plessis continued his carnage, first hitting Manav Suthar for a six and four in the third over and then launching Mohit for four boundaries in the fifth over, bringing up the 50 runs in just 3.1 overs. Mohit continued to prove aggressive for GT, conceding 32 runs in just two overs. In the next over, Virat started dealing in sixers, smashing Suthar for two successive sixes over long-on and cow corner. Faf reached his half-century in just 18 balls, with eight fours and two sixes. This was the second fastest half-century by an RCB batter, next to Chris Gayle's 17-ball fifty in 2013 against Pune Warriors India. Little broke the partnership, getting the wicket of Du Plessis for 64 in 23 balls, with 10 fours and three sixes. RCB is 92/1 in 5.5 overs. Shahrukh Khan took the catch at the edge of the inner ring. At the end of the powerplay, RCB was 92/1, with Virat (28*) joined by Will Jacks. However, Jacks could not stay for long either, dismissed for just one run by Noor Ahmed after he was caught by Shahrukh. RCB was 99/2 in 6.5 overs. RCB reached the 100-run mark in seven overs. GT made a brief comeback into the game in the next two overs. First, it was Noor Ahmed who got Will Jacks caught for just one run by Shahrukh Khan at long-on. Next, Joshua Little brought a twist in the game with quick wickets of Rajat Patidar (2), Glenn Maxwell (4) and Cameron Green (1) within his two final overs. RCB slipped to 111/5 in 9.5 overs. In the next over, RCB received its biggest jolt as Noor removed Virat for 42 in 27 balls with two fours and four sixes after an edge was caught by wicketkeeper Wriddhiman Saha. RCB was 117/6 in 10.4 overs. Edged and taken by Saha, Virat is dismissed by Noor for 42 in 27 balls, with two fours and four sixes. RCB was 117/6 in 10.4 overs. Dinesh Karthik, the team's designated finisher, eased some pressure with three boundaries in Rashid Khan's over. RCB was left with 15 runs to get in eight overs. Swapnil hit Noor for two boundaries in the next, leaving RCB with five runs to chase in 42 balls. RCB ended its innings at 152/6 in 13.4 overs, with Swapnil Singh (15*) and Dinesh Karthik (21*) unbeaten. Joshua Little (4/45) fought incredibly for GT, while Noor Ahmed also got two wickets for 23 runs. Earlier, a crucial 61-run partnership between David Miller and Shahrukh Khan followed by Rahul Tewatia's blitz cameo propelled Gujarat Titans (GT) to 147 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after RCB pacers ran wreaked havoc on GT batters in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match here at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Yash Dayal was the pick of the bowlers as he scalped two wickets, conceding just 21 while Mohammed Siraj also bagged two. Cameron Green, Vijaykumar Vyshak and Karn Sharma claimed one wicket each. Miller (30) along with Shahrukh (37) knitted a partnership of 61 in just 37 deliveries for the fourth wicket and brought some life into the Gujarat innings while Rahul Tewatia slammed 35 runs and Rashid Khan scored 18 to take GT's total to 147. Opted to bowl first, Mohammed Siraj gave Gujarat double blows early in the match as he removed Wriddhiman Saha for 1 in the 2nd over and GT captain Shubman Gill for 2. In the 6th over, Cameron Green bagged the wicket in his first over and sent back the in-form Sai Sudharsan. After being three wickets down, David Miller and Shahrukh Khan led GT's recovery as the duo slammed big shots at regular intervals. However, Karn Sharma ended Gujarat's fightback as he broke the 61-run partnership, removing Miller for 30. In the 13th over, Virat Kohli exhibited an excellent display of fielding as his direct hit ran out the well-set batter Shahrukh Khan for 37. In the 16th over Rahul Tewatia smoked Karn for 19 runs, smashing 4,6,4,4, giving Gujarat hope of a competitive total. The duo of Tewatia and Rashid Khan kept the scoreboard ticking for their team before Yash dismissed the Afghanistan player for 18. Yash in the same over stuck again as he removed dangerous batter Tewatia for 35 runs. In the last over, Vijaykumar Vyshak gave GT a double blow as he removed Manav Suthar and Vijay Shankar to bundle out Gujarat to 147. Brief score: Gujarat Titans 147 in 19.3 overs (Shahrukh Khan 37, Rahul Tewatia 35; Yash Dayal 2-23) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru: 152/6 (Faf Du Plessis 64, Virat Kohli 42, Josh Little 4/45)

IPL 2024: Bowlers, Du Plessis Keep RCBs Playoff Hopes Alive With Four-wicket Win Over GT (ld)

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: Riding on a superb performance by their fast bowlers and a blistering 64 from captain Faf du Plessis, Royal Challengers Bengaluru kept their playoff hopes alive with a four-wicket win over Gujarat Titans at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. After Yash Dayal, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets each in a superb bowling performance to bowl out GT for a below-par 147, du Plessis and Virat Kohli gave RCB a blazing start with a 92-run opening stand coming in just 35 balls. Du Plessis was more aggressive of the two, hitting 10 fours and three sixes in his 23-ball stay at the crease. After he fell, GT triggered a spectacular RCB batting implosion by picking up six wickets from overs 6-11. It took Dinesh Karthiks 21 not out and Swapnil Singhs unbeaten 15 to get RCB over the line in 13.4 overs and help them jump to seventh place in the points table. RCBs win also meant GT slid to ninth place, while Mumbai Indians became the new occupants of tenth position in the points table. On a two-paced surface, Dayal, Vyshak and Siraj got their lengths and rhythm spot-on to bundle out GT for the lowest total at the venue in IPL 2024. They were also supported by Cameron Green and Karn Sharma taking a wicket apiece. Shahrukh Khan, David Miller and Rahul Tewatia chipped in with sizeable 30s, but none of them converted it into a big knock to make it the third time GT have been bowled out this season. Electing to bowl first, Siraj found late movement on a short and wide ball, which was good enough to find an outside edge of Wriddhiman Saha. It was also the fourth time Siraj took out Saha in the IPL. Siraj found late movement again when he forced Shubman Gill to whip and ended up with deep point taking a catch off a leading edge. The consistent B. Sai Sudharsan was next to fall, pulling without footwork and top-edge caught by mid-off against Green, as GT ended their power-play at a paltry 23/3, the lowest total in this six-over phase of IPL 2024. Post a horror Power-play, GT got some boundaries flowing, starting from Shahrukh glancing and cutting off Vyshak in the seventh over. He and Miller, dropped on 23 by Karn off Green, got some sublime timing on their shots to keep GT innings going as 38 runs came from overs 8-11. Shahrukh brought up the 50-run stand for the fourth wicket in the 11th over by smashing Green high over long-on for a 94-metre six. But RCB launched a fight-back in successive overs - Miller holed out to long-on off Karn after hitting a six over extra cover, while Shahrukh was run out by a direct hit from Virat Kohli at non-strikers end. Tewatia took a liking to Karn by smashing three fours and a six to take 19 runs off the 16th over, followed by Rashid taking two boundaries off Siraj in the next over. But Dayal brought a halt to the 44-run stand by castling Rashids leg-stump with a yorker, before taking out Tewatia with a short ball, with the diving third man taking the catch off the top edge. Vyshak came back to take out Manav Suthar and Vijay Shankar, while Mohit Sharma was run out in the final over as RCB got a team hat-trick to bowl out GT with three balls unused in their innings. Kohli began RCBs chase of 148 by lofting and whipping Mohit Sharma for a brace of sixes in the opening over. Du Plessis greeted Joshua Little with a pulled four, followed by taking two fours and a six in the 20-run second over. He then took the attack to debutant spinner Manav Suthar, taking a six and four in the third over, followed by heaving Mohit over mid-wicket to bring up RCBs fifty in just 19 balls. There was just no stopping du Plessis as he took three more fours off Mohit in an 18-run fourth over. After a sublime Kohli dispatched Suthar for two sixes, du Plessis completed his fifty in 18 balls and went on to slam Little for two fours and a six in the last over of Power-play. But Little had the last laugh by cramping du Plessis for room and a short fine leg took the catch on top-edge, as RCB ended Power-play at 92/1. The fast and furious-styled scoring from RCB in Power-play was brought to a halt afterwards by GT as Will Jacks, Rajat Patidar, Glenn Maxwell and Green perished quickly. When Kohli nicked behind off Noor Ahmad to fall for a 27-ball 42, the RCB supporting home crowd was left stunned over the batting meltdown resulting in the hosts being at 116/6 from 92/0. Amidst incredible pressure, a calm Karthik came out to diffuse the tension in the run-chase by taking down Rashid Khan with three fours a whip over mid-wicket was followed by pull over square leg and a firm carve over cover in a 16-run 12th over. A brace of lovely sweeps from Swapnil Singh off Noor, followed by the batter slamming Rashid down the ground for a huge six ensured RCB got over the line with 38 balls to spare, which is a big win in the race to playoffs heating up in IPL 2024. Brief scores: Gujarat Titans 147 all out in 19.3 overs (Shahrukh Khan 37, Rahul Tewatia 35; Yash Dayal 2-21, Vyshak Vijaykumar 2-23) lost to Royal Challengers Bengaluru 152/6 in 13.4 overs (Faf du Plessis 64, Virat Kohli 42; Joshua Little 4-45, Noor Ahmad 2-23) by four wickets

We tried hard with bouncers....: RCB's Vyshak after restricting GT to 147 runs in IPL clash

We tried hard with bouncers....: RCB's Vyshak after restricting GT to 147 runs in IPL clash Following a fiery bowling spell for his side that restricted Gujarat Titans (GT) to a low total, Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) pacer Vijaykumar Vyshak said that the bowling coach Adam Griffith told the bowlers to hit in the right areas and the team executed their plans well. A crucial 61-run partnership between David Miller and Shahrukh Khan followed by Rahul Tewatia's blitz cameo propelled Gujarat Titans (GT) to 147 against Royal Challengers Bengaluru after RCB pacers wreaked havoc on GT batters in their Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024 match here at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Speaking after the innings, Vyshak said, Quite happy as the team has done well. Glad that we could restrict them to 150-odd. Our bowling coach told be to hit the right areas, we executed our plans. We tried hard with the bouncers, happy that I got a couple of wickets. On his fielding, in which he took two catches and did a run-out, Vyshak said that he is working hard with the fielding coach Malolan Rangarajan on his skills. My both hands are swollen but I am okay. Pretty sure that we will get that total, he concluded. Coming to the match, RCB elected to field first after winning the toss. GT was 19/3 at one point. Then, a 61-run partnership between Shahrukh Khan (37 in 24 balls, with five fours and a six) and David Miller (30 in 20 balls, with two fours and two sixes) helped GT make a brief comeback. RCB kept taking regular wickets and once again reduced GT to 87/5. Then, a 44-run partnership between Rahul Tewatia (35 in 21 balls, with five fours and a six) and Rashid Khan (18 in 14 balls, with two fours and a six) took GT beyond the 100-run mark. RCB bundled out GT for 147 runs in 19.3 overs. Yash Dayal (2/21), Vijaykumar Vyshak (2/23) and Mohammed Siraj (2/29) were among the top bowlers for RCB. Cameron Green and Karn Sharma took a wicket each. RCB needs 148 runs to secure the fourth win of this season. They are currently at the bottom with three wins and seven losses, with a total of six points. GT is at the eighth spot in the table with four wins and six losses, with eight points. (ANI)

IPL 2024: Gujarat Titans labour to 147 against Royal Challengers Bangalore

CHENNAI: Shahrukh Khan's 37 and David Miller's 30 helped Gujarat Titans to post 147 in 19.3 overs against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the M Chinnaswamy stadium on Saturday. Shahrukh's controlled aggression came in handy. David Miller put the short handle to effective use and was harsh on Karn Sharma before eventually losing his wicket to the same bowler. Reeling at 19 for 3 after 5.3 overs, Shahrukh and Miller steadied the Gujarat ship. After being asked to bat, Gujarat got off to a disastrous start as Wriddhiman Saha was sent back by Mohammed Siraj in the second over. The onus was on captain Shubman Gill and the in-form B Sai Sudharsan to take charge and help Gujarat get a good start. With the team lying at eighth spot going into the match, it was a must-win game for Gujarat. ''The talk is to win four in four. It's important to turn up and deliver our best. I feel our fielding has let us down. We had a chat about it. We need to be a better team as a fielding unit. IPL is such a long tournament. It's important to turn up on the day. We have two changes, Manav Suthar makes his debut and Josh Little comes in,'' Gill had said before the match. However, Gill (2 off 7 balls) didn't last long as he fell prey to Siraj. He got out while trying to whip a good-length delivery towards the on side. He closed the face of the bat too soon and found the top edge. The deep third fielder, Vyshak Vijay Kumar, came in and claimed the catch. Vyshak later claimed two wickets. Soon, it became a nightmare situation for the visiting side as Sai Sudharsan was also dismissed. Cameron Green outfoxed Sudharsan with a change of pace. That's when Shahrukh and Miller intervened to carry out the rescue act. Later, Rahul Tewatia hit 21-ball 35 to help the team cross the 140-run mark.

IPL 2024: Superb Bowling By Dayal, Vyshak, Siraj Sees RCB Bowl Out GT For 147

Indian Premier League: Yash Dayal, Vyshak Vijaykumar and Mohammed Siraj picked two wickets each in a superb bowling performance as Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowled out Gujarat Titans for a below-par 147 in match 52 of IPL 2024 at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on Saturday. Pushed into batting first, Wriddhiman Sahas poor form continued when Siraj found late movement on a short and wide ball, which was good enough to find an outside edge. It was also the fourth time Siraj took out Saha in the IPL. Siraj found late movement again when he forced Gill to whip and ended up with a deep point taking a leading edge. The consistent Sai Sudharsan was next to fall, pulling without footwork and top-edge caught by mid-off against Green, as GT ended the Power-play at a paltry 23/3, the lowest total in this six-over phase of IPL 2024. Post a horror Power-play, GT got some boundaries flowing, starting with Shahrukh glancing and cutting off Vyshak in the seventh over. He and Miller, dropped on 23 by Karn Sharma off Green, got some sublime timing on their shots to keep GT innings going as 38 runs came from overs 8-11. Shahrukh brought up the 50-run stand for the fourth wicket in the 11th over by smashing Green high over long-on for a 94-m six. Vyshak came back to take out Manav Suthar and Vijay Shankar, apart from a run-out of Mohit Sharma in the final over as RCB got a team hat-trick to bowl out GT with three balls unused in their innings. Brief Scores: Gujarat Titans 147 in 19.3 overs (Shahrukh Khan 37, Rahul Tewatia 35; Yash Dayal 2-21, Vyshak Vijaykumar 2-23) against Royal Challengers Bengaluru

Spot-on RCB bowlers silence Gujarat Titans, restrict them to 147

Spot-on RCB bowlers silence Gujarat Titans, restrict them to 147 Gujarat Titans, preyed on by a sporting pitch, accurate Royal Challengers Bengaluru bowlers and their own inhibitions, laboured to a modest 147 all out in the Indian Premier League match here on Saturday. There were a couple of good partnerships 61 between David Miller and Shahrukh Khan and 44 by Rahul Tewatia and Rashid Khan but the Titans lacked that one big innings or a stand that could have given them a firmer grip on the match. In fact, they seemed distinctly incapable of accelerating even in the Power Play as their top-order batters struggled against RCB pacers, Mohammed Siraj (2/29) and Yash Dayal (2/21) who stuck to a wonderful length on a pitch that offered good carry and bounce. That GT managed to strike just two fours in the Power Play segment offered ample evidence to their struggle and RCB bowlers accuracy. The Gujarat sides Power Play score of 23 for three was the lowest in the segment this season, and it was mainly due to Sirajs domination upfront. Coming off a short-break, the pacer looked a far improved version of himself after the struggles of initial stages where he sprayed the ball all around. He consumed Wriddhiman Saha with a fine outswinger which the GT opener wafted to Dinesh Karthik behind the stumps. Shubman Gill followed soon as his attempted swat to the on-side of Siraj took a leading edge and ended in the hands of Vysakh Vijayakumar at deep point. Cameron Green fetched the third wicket for RCB in the Power Play when he jettisoned in-form B Sai Sudharsan, whose feeble pull close to the body was snaffled by Virat Kohli at mid-off. Once their top two run-getters of the season walked back to the dugout, the rest of the batters needed to step up big time for GT to reach a competitive total. Miller (30, 20b) and Shahrukh (37, 24b) tried their best to drag GT out of the woods with a well-paced 61-run alliance off 37 balls for the fourth wicket. Miller was even fortunate to get dropped on 23 off Green by Karn Sharma near square leg, did play some archetypal power shots. He punished leg-spinner Karn for a couple of sixes a pull and a loft over extra cover but fell to the same bowler when a miscued heave was grabbed by Glenn Maxwell at deep. But a bigger misfortune was in store for the visitors as Shahrukh, who backed up a tad too far to Rahul Tewatias soft drop, could not beat a throw from Kohli to the non-strikers end. For the sixth-wicket, Tewatia (35, 21b) and Rashid (18, 14b) added 44 off 29 balls, but the latters desire to be innovative against Yash Dayal saw the ball crashing onto the stumps. Tewatia, who punished Karn for 18 runs (4, 6, 4, 4) in the 16th over, too perished soon as GT limped to a below-par total.

RCB bowlers dismantle GT batting lineup, bundling them out for a mere 147

RCB bowlers dismantle GT batting lineup, bundling them out for a mere 147 Royal Challengers Bengaluru dished out a disciplined bowling effort to bowl out Gujarat Titans for a modest 147 in an Indian Premier League match here on Saturday. Opting to bowl, RCB bowlers picked up wickets at regular intervals before M Shahrukh Khan (37) and David Miller (30) shared 61 runs for the fourth wicket to stabilize GT's innings. But once the duo departed, GT innings never really got the required impetus. Towards the end, Rahul Tewatia (35 off 21) tried his best to up the ante but lacked support from the other end. For RCB, Yash Dayal (2/21), Vijaykumar Vyshak (2/23) and Mohammed Siraj (2/29) picked up two wickets apiece. Brief Scores: Gujarat Titans: 147 all out in 19.3 overs (Masood Shahrukh Khan 37, Rahul Tewatia 35, David Miller 30; Yash Dayal 2/21, Vijaykumar Vyshak 2/23 and Mohammed Siraj 2/29).

JD(S) leader HD Revanna detained in kidnapping case after court rejects anticipatory bail

JD(S) leader HD Revanna was detained by a Special Investigation Team (SIT) of Karnataka police in Bengaluru on Saturday. The arrest came subsequent to a court's refusal of his anticipatory bail request in connection with a kidnapping case registered at the KR Nagar police station in Mysuru. Revanna was apprehended by SIT officials at the Padmanabhanagar residence of his father and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda. His arrest comes after a Special Court for People's Representatives in Bengaluru rejected the JD(S) leader's anticipatory bail plea in the kidnapping case. The son of the 'abducted' woman has alleged that his mother was abducted and sexually abused. In his complaint filed at the KR Nagar police station in Mysuru district, the man said his mother worked as a housemaid at HD Revanna's home for six years before returning to her village, where she worked as a daily wage labourer. The complainant said that on April 23, his mother was taken away by a man named Sathish Babanna, who claimed to have been sent by HD Revanna's wife, Bhavani Revanna. She returned home on April 26. Then on April 29, Babanna took her away again, citing an old legal issue as justification. The man later discovered a video allegedly depicting sexual abuse of his mother by incumbent MP and Hassan Lok Sabha candidate Prajwal Revanna, prompting him to confront Babanna. My mother's picture is also in the obscene video controversy. She suddenly disappeared after the videos were revealed, the son added. He then filed a kidnapping complaint against HD Revanna and Babanna on Thursday night. The Holenarsipura MLA and his associate were booked under Sections 364A (kidnapping for ransom), 365 (kidnapping with intent to cause harm) and 34 (common intention) of the IPC. The FIR, registered by KR Nagar police, also lists HD Revanna as accused number one and Babanna as accused number two under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC). Notably, the JD(S) MLA, along with his son and party MP Prajwal Revanna, are also facing allegations of sexual abuse in connection with the 'obscene videos' case. The duo are facing a probe by the SIT, constituted by the Karnataka government, over allegations of sexual harassment and criminal intimidation following a complaint by a woman who worked in their household. Revanna was booked in an alleged sexual harassment case on April 28 based on a complaint lodged with Holenarasipura Town police. The case was registered under sections 354A, 354D, 506, and 509 of the IPC on charges of sexual harassment, intimidation, and outraging the dignity of a woman. As per the complaint, the victim claimed that Prajwal Revanna and his father, HD Revanna, had sexually assaulted her. Explicit video clips allegedly involving Prajwal Revanna had started making the rounds in Hassan in recent days, following which the state government constituted the SIT to probe the alleged sex scandal involving the MP. Prajwal Revanna is said to have flown abroad on April 27, a day after the first phase of Lok Sabha polls in Karnataka held on April 26.

Historical Portrait of Travancore's Last Queen by Ravi Varma on Display Until May 30 The 'hitherto unseen' portrait of Raja Ravi Varma featuring his eldest granddaughter as a three-year-old toddler, unveiled in Bengaluru on the occasion of his 176th birth anniversary on April 29, will continue to be open for public viewing till May 30. Ravi Varma's eldest granddaughter, Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi (1895-1985), was the last ruling queen of Travancore and was considered a living goddess by her subjects. She had ruled the Kingdom of Travancore for seven years from 1924 to 1931. The painting is also a never-seen-before portrait of the Maharani, whose life is well documented. Raja Ravi Varma Heritage Foundation (RRVHF) had mounted a show on her titled, 'Daughter of Providence,' tracing the chronology of how the three-year-old toddler painted by Ravi Varma went on to become the queen, who is known even today for the social reforms she brought about. RRVHF had acquired the painting from the Travancore royal family. ''While the focus of the foundation remains documentation and preservation of Raja Ravi Varma's work, we often come across paintings done by the artist that have never been seen, researched, documented or published before they reach our hands. This painting of Maharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi as a three-year-old girl is one such work that needs to be spoken about,'' said Gitanjali Maini, managing trustee and CEO of RRVHF. The exhibition was conceptualised by the foundation with research and documentation by historian Manu S Pillai, who wrote an award-winning book, The Ivory Throne: Chronicles of the House of Travancore, on the life ofMaharani Sethu Lakshmi Bayi.

Two FIRs have been registered against the JD (S) legislator. Revanna, a former minister, who has been served a second summons to appear for questioning before the SIT probing the case, has time till this evening to do so, Parameshwara said. It (lookout notice) has been issued against him (Revanna) already.....anticipating that Revanna may also plan to go abroad, it has been done, Parameshwara said. Prajwal has already flown abroad. A similar look out notice has been already issued against Prajwal. While speaking to reporters here, he said, Revanna has time till this evening to appear before SIT for inquiry. Second notice was given to him. In the meantime, in the Mysuru kidnap case he is said to have applied for a bail. Responding to a question on an arrest being made in the Mysuru kidnap case, the minister said, such things keep happening..arrests will be happening, lookout notices have been issued, several other developments will be happening, many things may not come to the public domain. A first case was registered against the father and son duo for alleged sexual harassment at the Holenarsipura police station in Hassan district last Sunday, based on a complaint by a woman who worked in Revanna's house. The second FIR was registered against Revanna and his confidant Sathish Babanna in Mysuru on Thursday night for allegedly abducting a woman, who is also reportedly a victim of sexual abuse. Asked, while Satish Babanna, the second accused in the kidnap case has been arrested, but first accused Revanna has not been arrested yet, Parameshwara said, He (Revanna) has been given an opportunity, notice has been given to him under section 41 A of CrPC and he will have to appear (before SIT). He has been served the second notice and he has 24 hours time, which will end today, after which whatever action should be taken will be taken. To a question regarding arresting Prajwal, Parameshwara said, He will have to come back (from abroad). If not today, day-after-tomorrow or after that he will have to come. After that, procedurally, whatever has to be done, like arrest and other things will be done. The 33-year-old Prajwal Revanna, who is the grandson of former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda, was the BJP-JD(S) alliance's candidate from Hassan, which went to the polls on April 26. His advocate had sought for seven days time for him to appear before SIT, to which the investigating team has replied it is not possible as there is no such provision. The second FIR was filed against Prajwal Revanna, this time by the CID in Bengaluru on Wednesday based on a complaint by a JD(S) party worker, who alleged she was raped by him at gunpoint. He later made a video of her and blackmailed the woman saying he would make it viral if she did not fulfill his lust whenever he demanded, the complaint said. Meanwhile, the SIT team did the 'spot mahazar' at Revanna's Holenarsipura residence in the presence of the victim on Saturday, according to sources.

IPL 2024: Looking To See More Attacking Fast Bowling From Siraj And Yash: RCB Head Coach Flower

Royal Challengers Bengaluru: As they return to M Chinnaswamy Stadium after nearly three weeks, Royal Challengers Bengaluru is upbeat going into the last third of its IPL 2024 campaign. A vital component of RCBs back-to-back wins in Hyderabad and Ahmedabad was their attacking fast bowling; head coach Andy Flower is eager to see more of that from the likes of Mohammed Siraj and Yash Dayal in today's clash against Gujarat Titans in front of the 12th Man Army. Our batsmen will definitely be looking to bat out there in the middle not only on a good batting deck but in front of our brilliant crowd. What I have enjoyed seeing is our fast bowling unit bowling in a really attacking fashion. We have seen them take more wickets in the powerplay in the last three games. So we are looking at seeing more of the attacking fast bowling from the likes of Yash Dayal and particularly Siraj who has been outstanding particularly with his yorkers, said head coach Flower on RCB match day.. With four games to go in RCBs IPL season, Flower is firmly keeping the faith. Playoff hopes are still alive and that is a brilliant position, obviously we would have liked to have been much closer to the playoffs than we are but we are still there, the chances are still there and we are still believing, he said. Meanwhile, captain Faf du Plessis is proud of how his team has shown character and turned things around over the last few matches. Pressure is always there for performance, that is part of the game. Pressure is there when you are winning as well, you need to perform. For me the nice thing from a captaincy point of view is that we are playing the style of cricket that we have been wanting to play for a long so it is more a happiness that we are doing ourselves justice whereas before, the opposite was happening. Proud of the boys and the way they have stood up. It takes a lot of character when you are down in the dumps, so the boys have responded really well and the way they have played the last three games has been really good, Du Plessis said. There has been some rain in the build-up to tonights match but coach Flower does not feel it will be a major factor. The rain hasnt really changed a lot in our preparation or selection. It is brilliant that Chinnaswamy has such a good drainage system, so I dont think that is a big factor but I do know that Bengaluru needs the water so it is brilliant to have some of this beautiful rain, coach Flower said.
