Mayank Yadav won't take any further part in IPL: Langer

Mayank Yadav Ruled Out of IPL 2023: Coach Justin Langer

Mayank Yadav Ruled Out of IPL 2023: Coach Justin Langer Pace sensation Mayank Yadav has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League after sustaining a lower abdominal tear, Lucknow Super Giants head coach Justin Langer confirmed on Saturday. That the 21-year-old Delhi man would be out of this IPL with a grade 1 tear (side strain) was first reported by PTI on May 1 along with the news of his induction into BCCI's pace bowling contract list. Asked about Mayank's fitness status, Langer said, No, we'll be praying that he can play, hopefully, in the play-offs, but I am a realist as well. It'll probably be difficult for him to get up for the back-end of the tournament.'' Mayank, who took everyone by surprise with his 155 click thunderbolts played four IPL matches, took seven wickets. But more importantly, in two of those games he broke down without completing his quota of overs. The pacer got injured for the first time against Gujarat Titans and he left the field with a side strain after bowling one over. He underwent a four-week rehabilitation and came back against Mumbai Indians but broke down again after sending down 3.1 overs leading to scathing criticism from Langer's one-time teammate Brett Lee. Langer informed the media that Mayank sustained a tear at the same area where he was injured earlier. ''He's (Mayank) had a scan. He's got a small tear in a similar area to where his last one (injury) was. So, it's very unfortunate. We saw the impact he had when he came back into the game, the former Australia opener and head coach said. Langer said even the great Jasprit Bumrah has spoken about how fast bowlers will have to cope with injuries. There will always be a lot of discussion about fast bowlers, and I know he spoke to [Jasprit] Bumrah after the game and he reassured him that if he's going to be a fast bowler, a part of his journey as a young fast bowler, he's going to get injuries. So, in my experience, every young fast bowler, probably until they get to 25 or 26, is going to experience different injuries. It's the most unfortunate. He's got huge potential, he said. While Lee had questioned LSGs handling of Mayank's injury, the head coach sounded different. His rehabilitation was excellent. He went into the game [against MI], had a couple of bowls before the game. He was completely pain free. So, it's very sad for him and it's disappointing for LSG as well that he might not play (the rest of the tournament).

Yogi Adityanath Accuses Congress of Planning to Implement Jizya Tax

Lucknow: Ut tar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the Congress party, accusing them of intending to implement the Jizya tax, originally imposed by Mughal emperor Aurangzeb on non-Muslim minorities. Adityanath made these remarks while addressing a public meeting in Madhya Pradesh's Ashoknagar district on Saturday, where he was campaigning for Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) candidate Jyotiraditya Scindia for the 2024 Lok Sabha elections. Adityanath referred to the Congress manifesto, highlighting its proposal for an inheritance tax, which he likened to Aurangzeb's Jizya tax. He stated, Even a civilized Muslim family does not name their son Aurangzeb. Aurangzeb was the most cruel Mughal king. Aurangzeb had imposed a tax named Jizya tax. Today, Congress also talks about the Jizya tax in its manifesto. He criticized the Congress further, claiming that while Prime Minister Narendra Modi emphasized respecting inherited property, the Congress proposed an inheritance tax in its manifesto. Adityanath asserted that Congress intended to implement the Jizya tax and questioned whether Indians would accept it. Moreover, Adityanath alleged that the Congress aimed to reduce reservations for Other Backward Classes (OBC) and Scheduled Castes (SC), citing the party's manifesto. He accused Congress of reducing OBC reservations in Karnataka and Andhra Pradesh during their respective governments. Responding to Adityanath's remarks, Congress leader Pawan Khera challenged the accuracy of his claims and asked Adityanath to cite the page number in the manifesto where the Jizya tax proposal was mentioned. Khera emphasized that Yogis, like Adityanath, should speak the truth. The Lok Sabha polls in Madhya Pradesh are being conducted in four phases. The first two phases were held on April 19 and April 26, while the remaining two phases are scheduled for May 7 and May 13. Vote counting is set for June 4. LSG Cautions Against KKR's All-Round Might in IPL Playoff Pursuit

LSG Cautions Against KKR's All-Round Might in IPL Playoff Pursuit Lucknow Super Giants will have to bring their A game forward to prevail against a dominant Kolkata Knight Riders when the two teams, marching towards IPL playoffs, clash here on Sunday. With an all-round win by 24 runs over Mumbai Indians propelling the second-placed KKR to 14 points one more step closer to qualification the pressure will be on KL Rahul's LSG to find a way past the threat that Shreyas Iyer's side poses. Lucknow Super Giants are placed just one rung below KKR at number three with 12 points from 10 matches with six wins and four defeats. With a rampant Sunrisers Hyderabad (12 points) hot on heir heels at fourth, followed by the dangerous Chennai Super Kings (10 points) and Delhi Capitals (10 points) on the points table, LSG will be under pressure to avoid getting into a mid-table battle as the race for the final-four has intensified. LSG were far from convincing in their previous assignment at Ekana Stadium here as they were made to work hard in a modest 145-run chase by Mumbai Indians, winning by just four wickets in the last over. Skipper Rahul and all-rounder Marcus Stoinis have been the key players for LSG and it remains to be seen if South Africa veteran Quinton de Kock is brought back in place of young Arshin Kulkarni, who opened the innings in the last game. Even though he has gone without a fifty since the first game, Nicholas Pooran has consistently notched up crucial scores but LSGs overall finishing skills is under question following their struggles against Mumbai Indians. LSG seemed to have made heavy weather towards the end giving MI a real sniff by losing wickets in a flurry and completing their modest chase with some stutter. Ayush Badoni has had a subdued run in this IPL and the uncapped Indian player would be keen to shrug off the rustiness. LSG's bowlers will also face a stern test with none of them making a real dent with individual brilliance in this IPL. LSG are also likely to be without express pacer Mayank Yadav. Having lost only three of their 11 matches so far, it has taken something out of the ordinary to stop KKR in their tracks. CSK used a spin-friendly surface to eke out a win in Chepauk, while RRs all-round class helped them pip KKR in a high-scoring thriller. If anything, KKRs bowling woes were exposed when Punjab Kings recorded IPL's highest chase ever against them, but Iyer's side has emerged strongly from that setback with two impressive wins. However, having trumped MI on a sluggish wicket which exposed their batting frailties, KKR will aim for a much improved performance with the bat. For the second time in this IPL, KKR batters struggled when the ball did not come on to the bat and they were forced to change gears in order to build a strong target. KKR slipped to 57 for five at one stage and ran the risk of being shot out for a paltry total, but Venkatesh Iyer (70) and Manish Pandey (42) came to the rescue with a fine 83-run stand. Iyer and Pandey were forced to soak pressure, curb their attacking game and look to farm the strike to build a recovery path for their side before the bowlers carried out a perfect job to secure a 24-run win. Teams (from): Lucknow Super Giants: Quinton de Kock, KL Rahul (c & wk), Deepak Hooda, Ayush Badoni, Marcus Stoinis, Nicholas Pooran (wk), Krunal Pandya, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohsin Khan, Shamar Joseph, Yash Thakur, Manimaran Siddharth, Prerak Mankad, Arshad Khan, Krishnappa Gowtham, Amit Mishra, Kyle Mayers, Ashton Turner, Matt Henry, Naveen-ul-Haq, Devdutt Padikkal, Yudhvir Singh Charak, Mayank Yadav, Arshin Kulkarni. Kolkata Knight Riders: Shreyas Iyer (c), KS Bharat (wk), Rahmanullah Gurbaz (wk), Rinku Singh, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Sherfane Rutherford, Manish Pandey, Andre Russell, Nitish Rana, Venkatesh Iyer, Anukul Roy, Ramandeep Singh, Varun Chakravarthy, Sunil Narine, Vaibhav Arora, Chetan Sakariya, Harshit Rana, Suyash Sharma, Mitchell Starc, Dushmantha Chameera, Sakib Hussain, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, Gus Atkinson, Allah Ghazanfar, Phil Salt. Australia pacer Starc says no impact player rule in T20 WC will force captains to think tactically

MUMBAI: Kolkata Knight Riders and Australia pacer Mitchell Starc believes not having Indian Premier League's Impact player rule will force the captains to think more tactically when the T20 World Cup begins in the Americas next month. The impact player rule, which was implemented last year, has witnessed teams batting with more aggression and fearlessness, leading to totals in excess of 200 being scored consistently. The IPL this year has been particularly high-scoring with totals in excess of 250 being notched up at least on three instances. The impact player rule changes things a fair bit. Everyone gets to bat a lot deeper having a batting and a bowling XI, Starc told the media after KKR defeated Mumbai Indians by 24 runs here on Friday. I guess there's a lot made of that rule and there's been a lot of high scores, which is the nature of the wickets and the grounds we play on here. Impact player rule has had a fair part to play in that, when you are going to have batters and batting all-rounders come in at Nos 8 or 9, it's a long batting lineup. There's no fear in the powerplay when all you have to do is clear the infield and score runs. Certainly, there has been some really good batting, don't get me wrong, it's not just the rules that play a part there. Starc, who took 4/33 in KKR's win, said having no such rule in T20 World Cup could witness the impact on the scores. There's been some fantastic scoring, some fantastic partnerships and some individual brilliance with the bat. On the flip side, time (will) tell, we got the World Cup coming next month, there's no impact player rule. Whether that affects the scores, is yet to be seen, he said. It probably will. There's been talk about balance of team and when you can't just bring someone in, your all-rounders come back into play, certainly world-class all-rounders that balance the team now. Captains (will) have to think a bit tactically too when you have just 11 players. It's been interesting to experience it first hand in the IPL, he added. Starc, who was bought for a record price tag of Rs 24.75 crores, found himself on the receiving end of the batters' aggression this season but the Aussie bowler said there was no price-tag pressure on him. I didn't set my price tag, so it is what it is, he said. The 34-year-old said IPL is serving as a perfect opportunity to prepare for the T20 World Cup but at the same time he is not thinking too far ahead and is focussed on helping KKR get close to their target of winning the tournament. I haven't really thought too much about it. It's T20 cricket, it's not as demanding as Test match cricket. Physically (it is) not a problem and (it is a) fantastic lead-in to play here in the best T20 league in the world, he said. You're playing some high quality cricket leading into the World Cup, a lot of players at this tournament are going to be at the World Cup. In that regard, it's a great thing to see and test your skills. In terms of length of time, that's part and parcel of international cricket. My main focus is in two days' time play in Lucknow, the World Cup is next month. At this moment, it's (about) trying to help KKR win the tournament.

IPL 2024: He Just Looks Really Flattered At The Moment, Says Finch On Hardik Pandya

Star Sports Cricket Live: Former Australia cricketer Aaron Finch dwelled on Mumbai Indians performance after 24-runs defeat against Kolkata Knight Riders on Thursday night. Finch also said that Hardik Pandya is feeling the pressure of a tournament such as an IPL. Jasprit Bumrah (3-18) and Nuwan Thushara (3-42) claimed three wickets apiece at each end of the KKR innings as Mumbai Indians restricted them to a paltry 169 despite brilliant fighting 70 off 52 balls by Venkatesh Iyer, who raised 83 runs for the sixth wicket in the company of Manish Pandey. You would expect them to chase 170 with the dew falling at the Wankhede stadium. It's a beautiful place to bat generally. Yes it was a bit uncharacteristic in the way it turned a bit more and a bit more two paced than what we have seen in the past, said Finch to Star Sports Cricket Live. Mitchell Starc claimed 4-33, bagging three wickets in four balls in the 19th over to end Mumbai's innings for 145 after spin twins Sunil Narine and Varun Chakravarthy had reduced them to 61/4 with identical 2-22 hauls. He just looks really flattered at the moment, he looks really drained and someone who is feeling the pressure. And I feel for him, I have been in that situation myself where everything that you're trying personally doesn't seem to be working. And when the team isn't performing as well, that's a very difficult place to be. And that's one thing where you're not performing and the teams winning, that's something you'd take as a captain but you bare all responsibility as captain for the teams performance and that is an incredibly hard place to be, particularly in this competition where it's so brutal. KKR will next face Lucknow Super Giants at Lucknow on Sunday while Mumbai Indians will lock horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad on Monday.

IPL 2024: The Impact Player Rule Changes Things A Fair Bit For Bowlers Feels Mitchell Starc

The Impact Player: Kolkata Knight Riders pacer Mitchell Starc feels Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit for the bowler in the IPL 2024 after the star pacer claimed a four-fer to guide Kolkata Knight Riders to 24-runs victory over Mumbai at Wankhede Stadium after 12 years. The Australian pacer entered the tournament with a weight of expectations on his shoulders, having been the most expensive pick ever at an IPL auction. However, his performance on the field didn't quite match the anticipation initially. Starc had just seven wickets and an economy of 11.78 in his first eight outings, and had conceded more than 50 three times. On Friday, he bounced back with 4 for 33 in Kolkata Knight Riders' 24-run win over Mumbai Indians, and said the Impact Player rule has made things easy a bit for the bowlers. The Impact Player rule changes things a fair bit, Starc said at the press conference. Everyone gets to bat a lot deeper having a batting and a bowling XI. There's a lot made of that rule throughout the tournament and there's been a lot of high scores, which is the nature of the wickets and the grounds we play on here. With a stellar performance against MI on Friday night, Starc not only silenced his critics but also showcased his resilience and determination. His four-wicket haul played a pivotal role in Kolkata Knight Riders' victory, proving his worth in the team. Reflecting on his turnaround, Starc emphasized the importance of adapting to the conditions and strategizing accordingly. I haven't changed too much, he said. It's about assessing conditions after the first innings. We certainly spoke about it and the batters that came off throughout that first innings mentioned the wicket and the lengths that were the hardest to face. That created the bowling plans for us. As T20 cricket doesn't always go the way you want it to go, and of course I wanted to go a bit better at the start. But I am not the only bowler going for runs. It is what it is. The fact that we sit second [on the points table] and are building towards the more important games at the back end and are playing some good cricket, hopefully I can be a part of it too. Looking ahead, Starc remained unfazed by the impending T20 World Cup, expressing confidence in his ability to manage his workload effectively. With his focus firmly set on contributing to KKR's success in the IPL, he viewed the tournament as valuable preparation for the international stage. It's T20 cricket, it's not as demanding as Test match cricket, he said. Physically it is not a problem and it's fantastic lead-in to play here in the best T20 league in the world. You're playing some high-quality cricket leading into the World Cup, a lot of players at this tournament are going to be at the World Cup. In that regard, it's a great thing to see and test your skills. In terms of length of time, that's part and parcel of international cricket. My main focus is to play in Lucknow in two days' time. The World Cup is next month - at this moment, it's [about] trying to help KKR win the tournament. Starc expects the T20 World Cup to provide a more even contest between bat and ball, unlike the IPL where totals of over 200 have been commonplace. There's no Impact Player rule [in international cricket], so whether that affects the scores is yet to be seen. I think it probably will. People talk about the balance of the team when you can't just bring someone in. Your allrounders come back into play. Captains have to think a bit tactically, too, when you have just 11 players. It's been interesting to experience it first-hand in the IPL. Amidst his individual achievements, Starc commended the camaraderie within the KKR camp, particularly highlighting the young fast bowlers in the squad. Harshit Rana played all games before his one-match suspension and has taken 11 wickets at an economy of 9.78. Vaibhav Arora has picked up nine wickets in six outings at 9.42. Despite his experience, he approached his interactions with humility, aiming to lead by example and foster a supportive environment within the team. I am a bit more experienced and a bit older, at the same time I haven't played a lot of T20 cricket, Starc said of his interactions with them. [So it is about] working off each other in a way. I am certainly not there to tell people what to do, I am happy to answer questions if they have [any] or look to lead more by example at training and get my work in. We are a pretty good group, the whole group of players and staff is awesome to be around. I would like to think I am approachable, so happy to train with the boys. I was training with Harshit Rana the other night, made him run extra which he wasn't happy about (laughs). But no, it's a great group and a lot of time we have a lot of fun.

Kerala: Promote local varieties of Islam to resist Arabisation says Egyptian scholar

KOZHIKODE: An Islamic scholar from Egypt has called for the promotion of indigenous varieties of Islam prevailing in non-Arabic countries to resist the process of Arabisation that seeks to impose a monolithic form of the religion, destroying all its pluralities. In an interview to the TNIE , Dr Nasr Muhammad Arif, Professor at Cairo University, Egypt, said the Arabs carried Islam to various communities more than one thousand years ago in a peaceful and non-confrontationist way. But in the last century it was replaced by Saudi Salafism, which was aggressive and disrespectful of local traditions. The scholar believes that the change occurred due to the influence of western or colonial ideology that divided human beings into superiors and inferiors. He said the Salafi creed propagated by Saudi Arabia was completely insensitive to local culture and traditions. Islam only prescribes that the body should be properly covered. But the Saudi Salafis insist that Muslims should wear their dress. People in South East Asia like colourful things but Salafis want black abaya, he said. I am coming from a society which follows the Maliki school of Islamic jurisprudence. There, women need not cover their breasts when they are feeding babies. This is unimaginable in Saudi Arabia, Arif said. The Saudi Salafis looked down on the Muslims in traditional communities and thought that they should be re-introduced to Islam again. This is equivalent to the process of Westernisation, Arif said. When Muslims came to South East Asia, they adopted an architectural philosophy that was eco-friendly. They constructed the ceiling of mosques like a pyramid taking into consideration the rainy season, but later it was replaced by the Arabian style of flat roof. Thus, the local culture and tradition were completely sidelined and an Arabian culture was imposed, Arif said. The only way out is to de-Arabise society and return to traditional Islam. I am told that there are several Islamic scholars in Kerala whose books are taught in Al Azhar University. I found a book where details of 6,149 Islamic scholars in Central Asia are given. There are places where there is a rich intellectual tradition but people are inclined to look at Arabs as the representatives of Islam, he said. India used to teach the whole world. The Darul Uloom in Lucknow was the publishing house for Muslims all over the world. You are looking down on you with a belief that others are superior, he said. Arif said the practice of seeking fatwas from scholars outside the country is totally wrong because any fatwa is conditional. Fatwa is a personalised one and cannot be generalised. Importing fatwas can be dangerous, he said. Arif was impressed by the interaction among various communities in Kerala. I went to a Muslim educational institution in Malappuram and I was glad to see that seventy per cent of the teachers are non-Muslims. There is a mosque in every half-a-kilometre, which is a rarity even in the Middle East. We need to promote this kind of plural culture, he said.

Summer Fashion Tips: If you want to shine in the summer season then keep these things in mind while getting ready.

In the scorching heat, everyone wants to wear loose and comfortable clothes. Generally, during the summer season, girls want to wear an outfit that is fashionable and also feels cool. In such a situation, you should know about those colors and fabrics, which will make you feel cool in the summer. You adopt many methods to protect yourself from the scorching sun and heat, but while trying to beat the heat, you are not able to look stylish even if you want to. Maintaining fashion in this season is also a difficult task, but by keeping in mind the color and fabric of your outfit, you can not only beat the heat but also get a cool and attractive look. Due to rising temperatures in this season, wearing light clothes is preferred. Some women wear only cotton clothes this season because they do not understand other fabrics, but you can wear outfits made of many fabrics other than cotton. Although light and pastel-colored outfits are worn more in this season, you should also pay special attention to the style, trend, color, and quality of the fabric while choosing the outfit. Minimal look this time This summer, a minimal look will be in fashion. A minimal fashion look inspires minimal makeup, modestly worn clothes, light colors, and simplicity. Therefore, instead of wearing heavily embroidered or dark-colored outfits, you should choose light-colored light-weight outfits. Style in college You can carry a floral dress or jumpsuit in college. These are very comfortable and suit every body type. You can pair a short top with linen pants. These make you look stylish. You should prefer sleeveless and sleeve clothes at home, but wear sleeve clothes or shrugs while going out of the house or going to college. With this, you will be protected from sunlight and heat and will also be protected from tanning caused by strong sunlight. You can also wear dungarees or a frock dress. If you want to wear an Indian outfit then a Sharara suit will be a good option for you. Amazing layering You can make layering your style statement. The outfits of this color look very beautiful in summer, especially if you like to wear suits or Kurtis. Pastel colors give you a simple look. You will also find many shades of lavender and blue. These give you a very classy and elegant look. You must keep white-colored outfits in your wardrobe. This color does not sting the eyes and also protects from heat. You can also try a white short dress, maxi dress, Lucknowi Anarkali suit, saree, shirt, skirt, trousers, etc. While choosing prints, you can also try checks, stripes, and geometric prints. You should not wear more than two patterns together. This will spoil your look. What is the fabric like Wearing cotton clothes is always a good option, as they absorb sweat easily. You will find many varieties of cotton clothes. Your look will look royal and different in pure cotton. Apart from cotton, you can also wear rayon, linen, chiffon, muslin, hosiery, organza, or georgette fabric. Hats and Sunglasses Wearing stylish sunglasses and a hat will not only protect you from the scorching sun but will also make you look more stylish. Slippers and accessories To provide coolness and comfort to your feet, choose light and airy slippers. Stylish flip-flops, slides, or strappy sandals will make you look beautiful. You can carry light accessories. You can carry small beads rosary or thin layering chains, light pearl bracelets, and small stud earrings both in college and office. For the perfect office look If you are looking for a perfect outfit for the office then formal pants with a cotton shirt can be a great option. You can also carry a formal kurta with pants. If you want to wear something stylish then choose a cotton maxi dress. It suits everyone and is comfortable too. Apart from this, you can wear a crop top, or tank top with a long skirt. For a casual look, choose a skirt of the same color. You should wear a long kurti, a short kurti, a short top, and a T-shirt with light denim pants, wide-leg pants, and palazzo pants. My bowling has not been upto the mark...: MI all-rounder Shepherd ahead of KKR clash

My bowling has not been upto the mark...: MI all-rounder Shepherd ahead of KKR clash Ahead of his side's Indian Premier League (IPL) game against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Mumbai Indians (MI) all-rounder Romario Shepherd said that his bowling has not been up to the mark and he has been working to make it better. MI and KKR will be locking horns in a high-octane clash at Wankhede Stadium on Friday. KKR is at the second spot in the points table, with six wins and three losses, giving them 12 points. They won their previous clash against Delhi Capitals. MI is at the ninth spot with three wins and seven losses, giving them just six points. They lost their previous game to Lucknow Super Giants (LSG). Ahead of the game, Shepherd admitted that his bowling has been smashed all over the park and he is sweating it out in nets to make it better. My bowling has not been up to the mark in the tournament so far. So, whenever I get the next opportunity, I can bowl better because, you know, bowling has been going to our park, and, you know, myself is no exception, said Shepherd as quoted by MI's official website. The all-rounder has bowled 10 overs this season and hit for 129 runs. He has taken just one wicket so far in this tournament. You know, each place you go, you have to try and adapt as fast as possible. And, you know, you must have plans, said Shepherd on his bowling. That is why we have team meetings and analysts to analyse where we bowl each batter. Over here, you can mis-execute, execute, and also go for runs. So, sometimes, you cannot judge yourself based only on the run rate. You have to ask yourself if you did exactly what you wanted to do. The batter was better on the day, or if you were bowling, you know, wrong balls at wrong plans. So, I assess as quickly as possible and devise a plan, he concluded his point. Shepherd also said that the team at this point in the tournament, has to play with an aim to win and put the very idea of scoring points behind. We just have to play to win. That is how we play cricket: to win each game. So it does not matter how many points we can score, said Shepherd. The hard-hitting all-rounder returns to Wankhede, where he had smashed 32 runs in the final over against Delhi Capitals (DC). Asked if he could replicate it, Shepherd said, You know, 32 runs in one over is hard. And you will not get those 32 runs out every game. The expectation is high. So you set the bar high, and people expect you to go there and hit each ball for six and get a boundary and stuff like that. Unfortunately, in the game of cricket, that does not happen. And, you know, sometimes you've got to rock and roll with that, he added. Kolkata Knight Riders Squad: Philip Salt(w), Sunil Narine, Rinku Singh, Shreyas Iyer(c), Venkatesh Iyer, Andre Russell, Ramandeep Singh, Mitchell Starc, Vaibhav Arora, Harshit Rana, Varun Chakaravarthy, Angkrish Raghuvanshi, Suyash Sharma, Anukul Roy, Manish Pandey, Rahmanullah Gurbaz, Dushmantha Chameera, Allah Ghazanfar, Sakib Hussain, Sherfane Rutherford, Chetan Sakariya, Nitish Rana, Srikar Bharat Mumbai Indians Squad: Ishan Kishan(w), Rohit Sharma, Suryakumar Yadav, Tilak Varma, Hardik Pandya(c), Nehal Wadhera, Tim David, Mohammad Nabi, Gerald Coetzee, Piyush Chawla, Jasprit Bumrah, Nuwan Thushara, Naman Dhir, Shams Mulani, Dewald Brevis, Kumar Kartikeya, Luke Wood, Shreyas Gopal, Harvik Desai, Romario Shepherd, Arjun Tendulkar, Shivalik Sharma, Anshul Kamboj, Akash Madhwal, Kwena Maphaka. A day after the T20 WC snub, Sandeep continues good works with Rajasthan

CHENNAI: The only thing you can control is your hard work and never give up attitude. Hours after the T20 World Cup snub, medium pacer Sandeep Sharma posted the message on Instagram on Wednesday. It's not that Sandeep, who had played only two T20Is for India that too was back in 2015, was dead sure of his selection for the marquee event. Already 30 plus, he has reached that stage of his career where such call-ups usually dry down. Despite the crude fact, hope remains and the bowler from Patiala (Punjab) too was hopeful. And why not? In his role as the death-overs specialist with the table toppers Rajasthan Royals, he had bowled one of the best spells of this season to date. He sent back Mumbai Indian batters one by one in Jaipur a few days ago bagging 5/18 from his four overs. He is also one of the three bowlers, who have claimed a five-wicket haul this season so far. The other two are Mumbai's Jasprit Bumrah and Yash Thakur of Lucknow Super Giants. What's more important is the fact that Sandeep has achieved all this while bowling with quite a good economy rate of 6.83 (by Thursday's match). Only Bumrah (6.40) and Liam Livingstone of Punjab Kings (6.22) have a better economy rate than Sandeep among the bowlers who have played five or more matches till Thursday. Given the responsibility assigned to him by the team last season, where he first went unsold before being picked up by the inaugural champions as a replacement player, Sandeep has been working mostly on slower bouncers and yorkers. Knuckle ball is another option, which he has been using efficiently. But it's not easy, especially for someone who loves to ball with the new ball in powerplays. ...the management had made it clear to me where I would be bowling majority of my overs so I worked mostly on slower bouncers and yorkers in the nets. I anyway knew I wouldn't be bowling much with the new ball because Boulty (Trent Boult) is a world-class bowler, one of the best in the world, the right-arm bowler had said after Rajasthan's last match against Lucknow. The ongoing season, however, did not startthe way Sandeep would have hoped. After the first two matches, a side strain kept him out of action for the next five matches. He returned with a bang with a Player of the Match winning performance against Mumbai. Against Lucknow, he remained economical thus making sure Rajasthan did not have to chase a target beyond 200.The good show continued on Thursday as Sandeep bowled miserly giving away 31 runs from his four overs and claimed the wicket of impact substitute and his Punjab teammate Amolpreet Singh. With others around him going for eight runs or more per over, he stuck to his plan and dried up the flow of runs at least for the first three overs he bowled. Travis Head's 44-ball 58 and Nitish Kumar Reddy's 76 off 42 apart from some late firworks from Heinrich Klaasen (42 off 19) meant SRH put up 201 runs on the board. Rajasthan agonisingly fell short by 1 run losing only the second match this season. A win would have been the cherry on the cake for Sandeep, who played his role to near perfection that too only a day after being ignored by the selectors, but it was not to be.
