Lovely might have had some compulsions. But his character has come before everyone today, he said. Meanwhile, after joining the Bharatiya Janata Party today, former Congress Delhi Chief, Arvinder Singh said that he had resigned last Sunday from the post and till date no response has been received from party leaders. I had resigned last Sunday and till date no response has been received from the party. So those who cannot take care of their own people, how will they take care of the people of Delhi? Lovely said. He also mentioned that he met all his colleagues and thousands of Congress workers after resigning who said to him that he should not sit at home but continue his fight for the people of the Delhi. Meanwhile, along with Lovely, former Congress MLAs Raj Kumar Chauhan, Naseeb Singh and Neeraj Basoya and former Youth Congress President Amit Mallik also joined the BJP. Arvinder Singh Lovely resigned from the Delhi Congress chief on April 28 and wrote a letter to Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge citing that he was against the alliance between Congress and AAP in Delhi. The Delhi Congress Unit was against an alliance with a party which was formed on the sole basis of levelling false, fabricated and malafide corruption charges against the Congress Party. Despite that, the Party made a decision to ally with the AAP in Delhi..., he said in his letter. (ANI)

PM Modi 'Aloof' From People's Concerns, Says Priyanka Gandhi Countering 'Shehzada' Jibe

PM Modi 'Aloof' From People's Concerns, Says Priyanka Gandhi Countering 'Shehzada' Jibe Congress leader Priyanka Gandhi Vadra on Saturday called Prime Minister Narendra Modi a shahanshaah (king of king) who lives in a palace but is cut off from the public, responding to the PMs shehzada jibe for her brother Rahul Gandhi. The Congress general secretary was addressing a public rally at Lakhani in Gujarats Banaskantha Lok Sabha constituency to canvass for her party candidate Geniben Thakor. He calls my brother shehzada. I would like to tell him that this shehzada walked for 4,000 kilometres from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to listen to your (people's) problems, met my brothers and sisters, farmers and labourers and asked how we can resolve their problems, she said. Addressing a rally in Gujarat on Thursday, PM Modi had targeted Congress MP Rahul Gandhi, saying Pakistan was eager to make the shehzada of the grand old party Indias next PM as the countrys enemies want a weak government at the helm. On the other hand is your shahanshah, Narendra Modiji. He lives in a palace. Have you ever seen him on TV? Clean clothes with not a single speck of dust, not a single stray hair strand. How will he ever understand your hard work, your farming? How will he understand your problems, that you are overburdened with inflation? she said. The Congress leader also said that the BJP wants to change the Constitution, and reduce and weaken the rights given to the people through the statute book. If you understand politics today, the biggest thing that Modi has done in the last 10 years is to weaken the rights of the public, she said. In Banaskantha, which will go to polls in the third phase on May 7, the BJP has nominated Rekha Chaudhary, an engineering college professor and first-timer, against Congress Thakor.

As a local, Im always accessible to people: Kilari Venkata Rosaiah

Kilari Venkata Rosaiah, sitting YSRC MLA of Ponnur, and son-in-law of former Union minister Ummareddy Venkateswarlu, is contesting from Guntur Lok Sabha constituency. He started his political career with the Praja Rajyam Party. He made his electoral debut in 2009 and unsuccessfully contested from Tenali. Later, he joined the YSRC, and won from Ponnur in 2019 elections, defeating five-time MLA Dhulipalla Narendra of TDP. In an interview with Bandhavi Annam, Kilari Venkata Rosaiah reiterated his commitment to the growth of Guntur as a local How did you feel when the YSRC leadership fielded you from Guntur Lok Sabha constituency replacing your brother-in-law? It did not come as a surprise to me because in the last elections, I was initially selected as an MP candidate for Guntur. The party leadership shifted me to Ponnur Assembly constituency just 28 days before the elections due to various reasons. As an MLA, I strove for the development of Ponnur in the last five years. When I was ready to contest from Ponnur for the second consecutive time, the YSRC leadership had selected me as the MP candidate for Guntur after conducting various surveys at the ground level on probables. What is your reply to the TDPs allegation that you were involved in large scale illegal gravel mining in Ponnur? Ponnur did not achieve any development though Dhulipalla Narendra of TDP represented the constituency for two-and-a-half decades. He did not fulfil even a single election promise. I have fulfilled all the election promises made to the people and basic infrastructure has been developed in the constituency, besides executing several development projects. Every household in the constituency is aware of the good work done by me as an MLA. Unable to seek votes in the name of development, Dhulipalla and other TDP leaders have resorted to mudslinging on me. Do you think the three-capital proposal of the YSRC will affect your winning prospects as Guntur Lok Sabha constituency comes under the purview of Capital Region Amaravati? Absolutely not. Because, if anyone thinks logically, he can understand the fact that construction of a capital in Amaravati, which is neither in Guntur nor in Vijayawada is not viable. Farmers of the capital region have not suffered not because of the YSRC government, but due to former Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidus ambitious act of taking over 55,000 acres of fertile land, which is unfit for the construction of capital. The State cannot afford such huge investment on construction of the capital, which he envisaged, and it is practically impossible. He and his people had made the capital as their own real estate venture. The YSRC is committed to safeguard the interests of farmers of Amaravati who gave their lands for the construction of State capital. Do you expect a tough fight from Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar of TDP? The TDP used to field a non-local candidate from Guntur Lok Sabha constituency, who after winning the election does not even bother to think about its development. After Galla Jayadev, now it is Pemmasani. If we observe his affidavit, all his asserts are in the US and he is a tax payer of that country, but not India. So, how can people believe that, leaving his entire fortune and businesses in the US, he will stay in Guntur and work for their welfare. Being a doctor, where was he during the Covid-19 pandemic? Galla only became an MP to better safeguard his businesses, and Pemmasani also has the same intentions, and the people are well aware of the fact that non-locals are not really committed to development of the constituency, which is evident in the past one decade. How do you rate your winning chances? I was born and brought up here. I have served the people in various capacities, besides having political experience, unlike Pemmasani, whose name was not known to the people of Guntur till a month ago. I am confident of my victory in the Lok Sabha election. What is your poll strategy? My strategy is to be honest and fair. Im a local and I live here. I am available to the people all the time. My father-in-law has done a lot for the development of the region. My father Kilari Koteswara Rao, who worked as a vice-chairman of the municipality, had a vision for the development of Guntur. Following in their footsteps, I will work for the comprehensive development of the constituency not only in urban parts, but also rural areas. I truly believe that people will bless me with their mandate. What are your growth plans for Guntur? My priority will be to resolve traffic congestion in the city by constructing RUBs and ROBs, extension of Sankar Vilas bridge and other major roads in the city. Apart from this, renovation and construction of new irrigation canals and drainage system in agriculture fields will be taken up to prevent crop loss during floods and cyclones. I will plan to promote agri-based industries in a big way to ensure remunerative prices to farmers for their produce and generate employment to local people.

People want change in government at Centre: Kharge

AHMEDABAD: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge claimed on Friday that people want a change of government at the Centre. Wherever I travelled I noticed that people are interested in bringing about a change in government, Kharge told reporters here during a campaign tour. Present government has failed in all aspects, it failed to control inflation and generate employment. That is the reason that the BJP is not talking about what it has delivered in the last 10 years, but talks more about other issues, the Congress chief said. It (government) has failed to uplift people from poverty, it has no policy to address poverty. In the last 10 years, it has not launched a single programme that helps the youth in getting employment, he claimed. Attacking Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he said, Modi has never worked to uplift poor people. Gandhiji always thought of the poor and worked for them. Reacting to Modis allegation about the Congress connection with Pakistan, Kharge said, We are not the one who will visit Pakistan without an invitation, nor bring any gift from Pakistan. Those who can sacrifice their lives for the nation are associated with the party. He alleged that during the Modi rule, the government has changed labour laws many times because of which labourers are facing harassment. If Congress comes to power, it will bring changes in all these laws, he said.

People of Bagalkot want change, I am here for development: Congress candidate Samyukta Patil

Was contesting the Lok Sabha polls from Bagalkot a planned idea, or the situation made you to contest? It was not actually planned, but things turned out and we took the decision to contest. We got enormous support from Congress leaders, which made me contest. You are contesting Lok Sabha polls for the first time, and that too against BJPs PC Gaddigoudar, a 4-time MP. Do you have any fear... I dont have any fear or hesitation. When I decided to contest, I had my vision and agenda very clear. I wanted to work for the people of Bagalkot. Veena Kashappanavar initially revolted after being denied a ticket. Is she now working for Congress? She is working for Congress. She accompanied me while filing my nomination papers. You were projected as an outsider in the beginning as you hail from Vijayapura... To be honest, even BJP workers are not saying that now. This shows how people have accepted me. I am getting enormous support from people. They are treating me like their daughter. I am not an outsider because I was born in the undivided Vijayapura district when Bagalkot was part of it. Besides, my father (minister Shivanand Patil) has cordial relations with the leaders of the district. It is believed that your fathers influence has worked in your favour... Yes, his influence and connection with the people here have helped me in not only getting the ticket but also consolidating the votes. Since my father has worked as Bagalkot in-charge minister, he has a good relationship with leaders here. If a voter asks you why he or she should vote for you, what would be your reply? Bagalkot has not seen expected development during incumbent MP PC Gaddigoudars tenure. Important projects such as the Bagalkot-Kudachi railway line have been moving at a snails pace for three decades. The district has not received any major projects. All that has happened because of lack of political will. I wish to give the district its due share in development. Are you confined to Bagalkots issue or also talking about national issues? I am raising national issues because it is the polls to form the Union Government. I am vehemently telling how the Modi government has failed to fulfill its promises of generating employment, doubling farmers income, checking inflation, etc. I am also conveying to the people how the government in Karnataka is helping people through its five guarantees. People have decided to change the government at the Centre and the MP in Bagalkot.

Accusing Congress and Samajwadi Party of wanting to change the Constitution of Dr B R Ambedkar, Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the two parties were trying to divide the country on the basis of religion and caste. The CM stated this during a roadshow in Mainpuri and during public meetings in Etah and Firozabad, on Thursday. Through its manifesto, Congress is trying to change the Constitution to divide the country on the lines of religion. When making the Constitution in 1950, Babasaheb had said there can be no religion-based reservation. It cannot happen because this had become the reason for the countrys division. Congress has said they will cut a portion of the OBCS and SCs and give it to Muslims. Congress and SP are going against what Babasaheb had said. This is a conspiracy to damage the country, he said.

Indonesia to permanently relocate 10,000 people after Ruang volcano eruptions

Indonesia to permanently relocate 10,000 people after Ruang volcano eruptions The Indonesian government will permanently relocate almost 10,000 residents after a series of explosive eruptions of the Ruang volcano has raised concerns about the dangers of residing on the island in future, a minister said on Friday. About 9,800 people live on Ruang island, in the province of North Sulawesi, but in recent weeks all residents have been forced to evacuate after the mountain has continued to spew incandescent lava and columns of ash kilometres into the sky. Authorities this week raised the alert status of the volcano to the highest level, closed the provincial airport in Manado, and also warned of the a possible tsunami if parts of the mountain collapse into the surrounding waters. Hundreds of simple but permanent homes would be built in the Bolaang Mongondow area to facilitate the relocations, said coordinating human development minister Muhadjir Effendy, after a cabinet meeting to discuss the volcano on Friday. As instructed by President Joko Widodo, we will build houses that meet disaster-standards, he said, adding that the site was located about 200 km (125 miles) from Ruang island. Mount Ruang began to dramatically erupt last month, with experts saying the eruptions were triggered by increased seismic activity, including deep sea earthquakes. The mountain erupted again on Tuesday, causing damage to some homes and forcing residents to evacuate from the Tagulandang island, where they had initially sought refuge, to the provincial capital of Manado. Roads and buildings on Tagulandang were blanketed in a thick layer of volcanic ash, and the roofs of some homes had collapsed, according a Reuters witness. The volcano had not erupted on Friday but Manado's Sam Ratulangi Airport remained closed until the evening due to the spread of volcanic ash. Indonesia straddles the so-called Pacific Ring of Fire, an area of high seismic activity where multiple tectonic plates meet.

Congress attempting to divide People: PM Modi

Ahmedabad: In his recent address at an election rally in Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi accused the Congress of attempting to divide Hindus for political gain through appeasement tactics. He criticized the Congress for proposing religious-based reservation and alleged that they are playing a dangerous game to create division among Hindus. Modi referenced Congress leader Mallikarjun Kharge's statement about Lord Ram and Lord Shiva, stating it was made with malicious intent to sow discord among Hindu communities. Modi also criticized the Congress for rejecting an invitation to the consecration ceremony of the Ram temple in Ayodhya and accused them of consistently making detrimental decisions. He highlighted the Congress' manifesto, alleging that it includes appeasement politics by proposing separate quotas for minorities, particularly Muslims, in government tenders. The Prime Minister emphasized that government contracts are currently awarded based on expertise and capability, not caste or religion, and warned against the destructive consequences of implementing religious-based reservation in the allocation of tenders. Modi condemned the Congress' alleged attempts to divide the country along religious lines and vowed to launch a nationwide campaign to raise awareness about the Constitution following the announcement of poll results on June 4. He affirmed his commitment to celebrating the Constitution's 75th anniversary and exposing those seeking to alter it, stating that it is imperative to teach them a lesson.

Jagan slams Naidu for ignoring peoples welfare in Andhra Pradesh

Naraspur: Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy on Friday slammed the Opposition leader and TDP president N Chandrababu Naidu for ignoring the welfare of the people during his tenure as Chief Minister. Launching a blistering attack on Naidu during an election campaign, Jagan Mohan Reddy said the former did nothing for the people. If you ask Naidu, who worked as a Chief Minister three times for 14 years, about one good work he did for the welfare of people during his regime, there will be no reply from him, he said. Naidus entire tenure was full of unfulfilled promises and deception, he alleged. Thanking people for attending the election campaign in large numbers in scorching heat, Jagan Mohan Reddy asked them to think wisely before casting their vote as Naidu has once again came up with promises in the name of super-6. He sought to know what had happened to the promises including unemployment dole to youth and making a Singapore-like capital city in Andhra Pradesh. He (Naidu) ignored all the promises mentioned in the manifesto in 2014 and he is again announcing super-6 promises which cannot be fulfilled given his previous track record, Jagan Mohan Reddy said. Believing Naidus unfulfilled promises is nothing but putting your head into pythons mouth, he said, adding that he was fighting Kurukshetrayudham not only for electing MPs and MLAs but for continuing various welfare schemes being implemented by the YSRCP government in the last 59 months in the State.

These Tips Help Keep Elderly People Healthy and Safe During Summer

As the temperature rises and summer approaches, it's crucial to pay special attention to the health and well-being of elderly individuals. Seniors are more vulnerable to heat-related illnesses, such as heatstroke and dehydration, due to various factors, including decreased sweat gland function and certain medications they may be taking. To ensure that our elderly loved ones stay healthy and safe during the summer months, we've consulted with experts to provide essential tips and advice. Stay Hydrated: Proper hydration is paramount, especially during hot weather. Encourage elderly individuals to drink plenty of water throughout the day, even if they don't feel thirsty. Dehydration can sneak up quickly, leading to serious health issues. Offer water-rich fruits like watermelon and cucumbers as tasty and hydrating snacks. Dress Appropriately: Choose lightweight, loose-fitting clothing made from breathable fabrics such as cotton or linen. Light-colored clothing reflects sunlight and helps to keep the body cool. Encourage seniors to wear wide-brimmed hats and sunglasses when venturing outdoors to protect their skin and eyes from harmful UV rays. Stay Indoors During Peak Hours: The sun's rays are strongest between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. Encourage elderly individuals to limit outdoor activities during these peak hours. Instead, suggest engaging in indoor activities or going for a walk early in the morning or later in the evening when it's cooler. Keep Living Spaces Cool: Ensure that indoor spaces are adequately ventilated and kept cool during hot weather. Use fans, air conditioning, or open windows to circulate air and maintain a comfortable temperature. Consider installing window shades or using reflective films to block out direct sunlight and reduce heat buildup indoors. Be Mindful of Medications: Certain medications, such as diuretics and antihypertensives, can increase the risk of dehydration and heat-related illnesses. Encourage elderly individuals to consult with their healthcare provider about any medications they are taking and whether adjustments need to be made during hot weather. Monitor for Signs of Heat-Related Illness: Educate caregivers and family members about the signs and symptoms of heat exhaustion and heatstroke, which can include nausea, dizziness, rapid heartbeat, and confusion. Encourage them to regularly check on elderly loved ones, especially those living alone, and seek medical attention immediately if any concerning symptoms arise. Maintain a Balanced Diet: Eating a healthy and balanced diet is essential for overall well-being, especially during summer when appetite may decrease due to the heat. Encourage seniors to consume light and nutritious meals rich in fruits, vegetables, and lean proteins. Avoid heavy, greasy foods that can contribute to feelings of discomfort in hot weather. Stay Connected: Loneliness and social isolation can have a significant impact on the mental and emotional well-being of elderly individuals. Encourage regular communication and social interaction with friends, family, and neighbors, whether in person, over the phone, or through video calls. Check-in regularly to provide support and companionship. By following these essential tips, we can help elderly individuals stay healthy, comfortable, and safe during the summer months. It's important to remain vigilant and proactive in addressing the unique challenges that hot weather poses for seniors. With proper care and attention, we can ensure that our elderly loved ones enjoy a happy and healthy summer season. The Salty Secret: Why Adding Salt to Your Water Is a Summer Game-Changer
