Jharkhand beats Delhi, Maharashtra in share of 'lakhpati' taxpayers
Jharkhand has surprisingly emerged as a leading state in terms of high-income taxpayers, surpassing Delhi and Maharashtra. Nearly 19.5% of Jharkhand's income tax filers reported annual incomes between Rs 12 lakh and Rs 50 lakh, placing it third nationally behind Karnataka and Telangana. Gujarat reported the lowest proportion of taxpayers in this income bracket.
